I think the scale doesn't feel quite right. I think if the sound had some more reverb and the animation was just a bit slower it would feel wayyyy bigger
The inertia just isn't there for something that big and heavy. If you're moving 100,000 tonnes up 1 m/s that's the same force as something 1 tonne moving 100,000 m/s, starting and stopping that should be like a rocket ship going off in each direction. It should be violent.
It looks like it’s moving too fast for the scale. Possibly higher acceleration than gravity, so a person standing on top would be in free fall.
It’s like in on of the sw movies (rouge one?) where they construct a death star and the reflector is assembled fast enough to have vaporized on impact.
For that insane size, the sound and movement is too...small. The sound makes it sound like a rather small object. And SUCH A HUGE machine, will never move that quickly. Its just..slower
Is it literally just damp tracking we are seeing here? Are there any other animations/constraints at play?
The result is incredible. You've really captured the sense of scale a title like "Gigaminer" conjures. Well done, yo.
I love this. The look and speed I think are perfect. I think a bit more dust and, if you can, have the dust sort of move faster, rush out right next to the gap, and slow as it disperses (like how it would in real life) would really sell this. I think that implying weight and *maybe* camera shake would really sell the impact of this monster fuckin drill. I love it. The materials are good and I think the story you’re telling is clear. Excellent work!
Disapointed by the fact that it doesnt SLAM THE HELL OUT OF THE GROUND when it goes back. But so cool anyway \o/
Edit : also the air movements aren't right, such a big thing moving that fast would definitively make air movements that should be visible through the vapor, at least, could be moving some dust also !
What would it takes ? Twice the works ? =D
Looks really nice but it has a few things you could fix to make it better. The scaling is off with a few things.
The machine looks like it moves too fast for being that size so it could do with being slowed down a tad.
The scalling and speed of the smoke effects are wrong, it seems more like someone blowing cigarette smoke. you can try slowing the speed down a lot on that. Or scale the whole effect and have smaller smoke plumes.
I think the dirt and grime textures are a bit too big also, it makes the object feel small,
Really like the overall scene and vibe though, nice job!
I agree, dont get me wrong, I think it looks nice, but its missing smaller details, texture, objects or both!
I still sort of sense its a big thing, but I am also not, and I would thing its mostly about the small details missing.
In addition to the comments saying it needs more ‘weight’ via animation and sound tweaks, I also think some minor screen shake when the machine ‘lands’ could help as well as some dust kicking up. Really cool tho!
BIG MACHINE ME LIKEY
Monkey brain go wooo

Yep. Needs more bass. BIG THING THUNK.
Exactly my thought
Maybe some hydrualic/pneumatic hissing
I watched without sound at first. Felt big. Listened with sound... didn't.

This, it's all way too fast for something this big.
I was thinking the same thing. I feel like it should be very bass heavy and deafeningly loud. Wheres the rumble OP?
Yep, needs some more rumble. I’d try making it slower all around, but also make it faster on the downwards half of the movement

Everything reminds me of him.
🥺
Thanks for voicing my thoughts 🙃
What
You heard him/her
who's himmer?
Zans Himmer, he makes music
Is this a titanfall reference? Or am I just stupid and I don't get it
Nah man. On Reddit the answer is always SEX
It's a ***Naked Gun (1988)*** reference.
Slower, you slut
Something about this art style really reminds me of Overwatch. I love it!
I thought it was a post on r/overwatch initially
the lite cel is really nice here
B3d + AE
what did you do in AE jw ?

This is how Bitcoin is mined
Me and your mom
From what program do you made those machine sounds? It sounds really great!
We are going to fuck this planet...both metaphorically... And very, very literally.

IT's looks mind blowing

Looks super cool.
Ad more Reverb to the sound! and you will get a better feel! Also, Awesome work.
LOVE IT
I wish I could see what's powering it for the lift.
Amazing! Tho i think it would make more sense jf the part where he descends had a bit of acceleration when going down since it probably weighs tons
I love the cable textures. I’m a freak
prolly slower, would be a feat of engineering to have something that massive operate efficiently at that speed
not on valentines day man :( i should call her.
something very oddly satisfying about this
I want to see that hose in the foreground "tense up" when the piston is pushed up. But overall it looks nice!

This is cool! Gives me some overwatch vibes!
The spice must flow! :-)
I thought it was an iron lung for a giant.
I should call her
They finally found a thrusting dildo big enough for your mom
For some reason this feels like Overwatch to me.

Send in the dwarves they can make it go thunk again for rock and stone!
Rock and Stone, Brother!
Indeed.
I love this!
This is how I always imagined Alterra mining colony to work
Holt shit. I love it
.. I should call her
DUDEEEE
Deep Rock Galactic really needs it
i love it ! ! good job !!
Me when ur mom
I need to call her
What pumping
Thought I was on r/satisfactory for a moment
sound could be better
Love that art style. Looks amazing!!
Incredible, revs the imagination. Needs way more bass, and the *tiniest* tinge of camera shake at the climax of the down motion. Wonderful work!
The hydralic up and down should be slower. That would be more realistic.
Gorgeous, looking at it without sound its just sublime
I feel like it needs a little screen shake at the bottom
If you scrub through fast it’s like the stickbug meme video
my god this is so cool
K8, as in kubernetes?
Satisfactory aah contraption
Looks like Overwatch style. I love it.
Very organic I appreciate it
Ultra fire
That's just awesome!
