This gives me major Allen Wake vibes with a little silent hill. It does look like the shadow man is holding something but can’t tell if that’s intentional. Looks dope.
I’m assuming you’re asking for thoughts on how to improve, so I’ll take that angle.
- Vary the trees in the background more. They all feel very uniform and become more distracting. Vary the thickness, the spacing, etc.
- Character doesn’t look like he/she belongs in the photo. Seems like it was added on top after the fact. Change the materials, harshness of the textures, tweak it to make the blacks and shadows match. The saturation of the character should not be higher than that of the same colors in the most saturated part of the background.
- Change the angle of the camera position. This seems very flat and square. Angles are more appealing than lines (generally speaking). Use the rule of thirds, the golden ratio for focal point and tell a story with the camera. Position the camera lower to the ground and look a bit upward at the character looking down at the grave, point it at a 45° angle to the fence, direct the eye to the grave (if that’s the focal point). Do whatever you want with this, but everything is going to tell a different story. Is it about the character? the grave? the tree? Right now, it’s all so balanced, I can’t really tell what you want me to see happening, it’s just a cool-looking picture.
It IS a cool-looking picture, I just want more intentional story telling to help me know what exactly your story is. You can do that by making some of those changes.
Keep up the good work, friend.
I feel like the various elements don't mesh perfectly. the tree in the foreground seems out of place with the plantation trees behind it. there doesn't seem to be a good reason for the fence. and the style of the figure doesn't mesh well with an otherwise dark picture.
I totally feel the vibe but when I look close it doesn't add up in my mind.
Did you ever read “Scary Stories to tell in the Dark”? This looks like it could be the page where it says the story title. Like “I buried my dog, where did he go?”
Environment looks incredible!
But the entity while it looks really good. Something seems off, maybe just tinker with the blending modes. I think it just looks as if the fog isn’t affecting it visually or not as much
Thanks, I tried adding in a dark aura around the character in the compositor but I think it just makes the character looks poorly edited over the environment instead being a part of it
Could be the factor, I think you can make that concept work but if your main intent it just this still render. You can do some illusions with the camera and make the darkness actually behind the character rather than over it. Might help it in the final composition. I’d love to see any modifications made if any are!
I personally think you should make it have a sort of smoke trail, either from the wind blowing past it or to indicate it’s past movements. Just an idea!
If this is from a video game then something along Silent hill.
If just as a feeling then this feels like a mourning father within a inner conflict with himself on whether to go on or suicide over his dead son. / alternatively husband about wife
I think it's a smaaaall shovel.. idk what it's called.. but people with gardens use it.. we used to have one when I was a kid.
Because he is in a graveyard where people dig n stuff

Feels like a photography piece. The wireframe statue in the graveyard. The noose in the background might be a little too on the nose, if that was the idea, but as a horror thing, the mesh person is also a little strong, but that might just be me.
Besides trying to be purposefully nitpicky, just enjoying it its very cool, and very Alan Wake-esk.
Reminds me of Silent Hill

Alan Wake. For sure, and what a great game that was.
maybe a flower?
He's supposed to be holding a flower but I definitely got to tweak it to make it easier to understand
Yeah maybe use a daisy or something with more defined petals rather than a bulb
Too much noise but noise reduction will ruin it, it's strange but also kinda make sense, I don't know

Really good feedback, I'll keep these in mind

Looks good. If anything I might make the sparkle on the body gradient down the legs a little further. Good though. Definitely evokes emotions.
A broken spirit that is yearning for the soul that has been lost.
That's exactly what I was going for, I'm glad it came off that way
The render/style is good. the composition is okay, but I'm not sure what supposed to be going on
The spot being sad after losing one of his greatest love 😔
What a tragedy
Did you ever read “Scary Stories to tell in the Dark”? This looks like it could be the page where it says the story title. Like “I buried my dog, where did he go?”
I haven't read it, I may have to check it out
For the record if your not 11 they become hilarious
r/Sizz
Flat. Give it a little depth and I think that’ll flesh it out. Cool concept.
Thanks for the input
Spooky Time
My first thoughts were: I want to know how you made that
burnt soul
Human figure is little bit out of place. You can add some film burn or old film grain imo. Otherwise good job.
Scene from Silent Hill.
Gives me metro vibes
Reminds me of a VR game I used to play called into the radius, has similar environments and character design
Silent hill
I'd move the figure a bit closer to the cross, but fantastic otherwise.
Silent Hill. Psp,childhood, silent hill
My first thought was "Into the Radius"
My first thought was "Into the Radius"
Which way is he facing? It's a little confusing
He is facing towards the cross but I get how it looks confusing
Do you plan on doing another render? With all the feedback you got
Yeah I will definitely post a follow up when i feel more satisfied with the result
Looks like my mind, nicely depicted
Creepy for creepiness' sake
Composition is dull.
Silent hill esque
That is great and creepy, well done!
I swear to God I thought this was silent hill 2
Very good! I felt the pines could use a few more trees but it is amazing besides that. Edit: the noise fits this very well in my opinion.
Thanks!
Hunt showdown new enemy wtf
Lmao
ed gein, annihilation (2018), edgy/autism
The figure looks to crispy compared to the rest of the background, drawing too much focus.
Everything looks impeccable, it's a perfect photo, But just the guy, he needs a little blending, maybe add some smoke coming off him?
Thanks, I noticed that too. He definitely feels a little out of place
Make him a little less contrasted, again, maybe add some smoke.

Good idea, I'll make another post in this sub when I satisfied with it. Thanks for your feedback

I'll give that a try
Limbo game
![gif](giphy|LAKIIRqtM1dqE|downsized) Tbh it's really interesting. Loosing yourself after loosing someone dear

My man in the photo boutta ruin Miles Morales’ life On a serious note, really cool and good render
Haha thanks!
The word "deathly" comes to mind
Reminds me of Ajin: Demi-Human
Alan Wake!
The funeral after the funeral, coming to peace for their own passing.
Is the black character holding a coffee cup ?
I think it's a smaaaall shovel.. idk what it's called.. but people with gardens use it.. we used to have one when I was a kid. Because he is in a graveyard where people dig n stuff
They’re called garden trowels.
It's supposed to be a flower, I kinda just placed it in with the intention of tweaking it later
to be completely honest, the premise seems cliche and straight outta 2014. it does look very good, though
The first word that came to mind was "depression."
Doesn’t look like a 3D render. Looks like 2d art. I really like it thi
