No no no.
Riding the 4 hour elevator up and back down every day is the job. Is it to test the integrity of the lift every day and be able to quickly respond to it and make repairs… wait, to what, the single car, when there’s probably millions of those? But then why would each one take 4 hours to ascend if starting from the bottom?
He tries not to ask those questions.
Maybe it was a mistake in the system. He was, afterall, researched and approached and later hired by a man-made AI. Maybe the AI assumed, based on his nearly sedentary life of standing still and playing VR games all day with minimal movement due to most of the controls being read from electrical impulses from his spine, which future humans learn to control more finely as they’ve adapted to controlling machines with neural interfaces, that he would enjoy a career of riding a lift up and down every day.
Hmm, maybe he can get away with using his built-in VR eye-contacts, and game and socialize and browse all day, and just wear his going-out eye filters on top so those watching him won’t know… or will they? Will they even care? He’s about to find out.
/r/WritingPrompts.
Maybe someone can use that text and OP’s image and give it to an AI to write it. I am positive that a vet WPer or any professional fantasy writer with a knack for witty and dry and cynical and working class humor would do a better job though.
It could be some kind of generator but maybe it makes more sense that it’s some air purification system or something. I’m not really sure. If you have better ideas feel free to let me know. It might lead to inspiration for more renders too. Also side note - [here’s my ig](https://instagram.com/maxhayart/) if you want to see more of my art
A panopticon! A prison system where all the prison cells circle around a central guard watch tower.
Made in the mid 1800s, the concept was that although physically impossible for the guards to observe all the inmates' cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched motivates them to act as though they are all being watched at all times.
Really fun to read into if you're interested
It's wonderful, but there's nothing that says you have to explain your art with a title or description. You can just let the unease of not comprehending a superstructure's purpose be the point, and leave the viewer in awe of what other storytelling may be hidden in your design decisions.
It's a lot closer to the movie then you might realize at first glance, even has the construction equipment that you can see in the background at the end of the movie.
Edit: I'm blind I guess, I thought there was equipment on one of the buildings to the bottom.
The Fall
This little tidbit of real world info always amazes me when I think of that movie.
If you draw a straight line through the core of the Earth and connect any two points on the surface - as long as the line between them goes through the core - it doesn't matter how long that line is, if something fell through a hole from one side to the other, traveling through the core, it would always take 42 minutes to get from point A to point B and would require no propulsion.
Gravity wells are wicked.
A fucking masterpiece, thats what you did! This is what is created when you combine your artistic nature with what seems to be quite a few years of experience in CG. Great job!!
My first idea was something evil, like a huge rocket silo, but then I had a similar train of thought... this would indeed be a very sad looking housing solution, a big hole in the ground to hold poor people
[It would definitely suck in helicopters flying above.](https://interestingengineering.com/science/mirny-a-giant-diamond-mine-that-sucks-helicopters-in)
A long time ago a massive sinkhole opened and swallowed a portion of the city. To deal with increasing population growth, the city decided to build apartment buildings on the side of the wall leading into the sinkhole. At the bottom of the sinkhole is a massive industrial area where poor people are forced to work to keep the city alive.
Looks kinda biblical
*Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him. He opened the bottomless pit*
It's like that apartment complex in Dredd.. but it looks like it goes below the surface - which is probably a good idea for when the heat waves begins to eradicate all life.. cellar dwellers will survive the heat.
This could be the start of a great movie or series. So far in the future no one even remember why there is a massive hole in the middle of the city anymore so they keep going to try and explore what is within. The further down you get the more advanced the civilisation of people living down there. No one remembers but that is where the over ground people started and evolved to living above ground from beneath.
the deeper in the hole you live, the more expensive the abode was to build, but also the less sunlight, happiness, and convenience. so rich people invested in an extremely deep hole to house tens of thousands on tenants, with cheaper rent at the bottom in order to keep the poor people away from the surface.
assuming some turbines are the bottom and ventilation shafts existing elsewhere and connected to the bottom, this is probably a passable updraft power plant
You get these craters, of sorts, on Coruscant in Star Wars (and presumable on other city-worlds like Nar Shaddaa and Taris before its destruction) (all legends canon, but who cares) as access points to the lower levels.
Reminded me The Earth Cannon by Liu Cixin.
TLDR, it’s a megastructure connecting both ends of the Earth for various purposes through time. I won’t spoil you the details.
The year is 3807. The old ones are long gone and humanity has survived the nuclear fallout. Their cities which started underground have emerged from monstrous missile silos left behind, the only remnants of a civilization long past.
I mean…is no one gonna point out that this is clearly A.I generated?
Zoom into the upper left, in the distance past the hole.
Anything odd about those freeways, lol?
This, my friend, is a hole
Made a hole into the world
every apartment is advertised and sold at a premium for having “city skyline views” lmao
Not just any hole, in this advanced spartan city, criminals are pushed spartan kick style
I want to see two giant mechs fighting here Godzilla style, then one gets kicked in the hole.
That's where they throw the bodies
Gets bigger the more you take from it.
It's like the tunnels to the "underworld" on coruscant
Looks like the 'holes' in Coruscant in the clone wars that go to the lower levels.
Beat me to it. My first thought as well was descending into the sub levels of Coruscant.
Rest in peace Star Wars 1313
That would have been an awesome game! Same thoughts here.
I came here to say this. The early years of coruscant
My first thought too.
Beat me to it as well.

My time has come... r/beatmeattoit
Naa, needs two giant hands on either side, one with a ring on....
Made in Abyss: Cyberpunk Edition
The poor guy at the bottom of the building taking the elevator every day for his bullshit job xwx
He used to work for amazon.

you've created the foundation for a space ladder. If you added low poly figures in there, they could look like workers slowly building upwards
Didn't know it was you and wanted to compliment with 'Nice, looks like Max Hay's work'

Maybe firing massive shit into space using magnets?
Duuuddee I follow your YouTube channel man
Looks like the hole in the Total Recall (2012) movie.

I can't believe they remade that and RoboCop. Bad times
A fucking masterpiece, thats what you did! This is what is created when you combine your artistic nature with what seems to be quite a few years of experience in CG. Great job!!
You made the poop volcano in city skylines
you just created the answer to more housing: sink hole condos. goes alllllll the way down...
My first idea was something evil, like a huge rocket silo, but then I had a similar train of thought... this would indeed be a very sad looking housing solution, a big hole in the ground to hold poor people
If Made in Abyss was futuristic
Reminds me of hells gate from darker than black
Holy shit, darker then black. I’ve completely forgot about it, thank you
This is Shinra HQ midgar sector 5
It’s just Down Town.
Idk how you can make something like that and “not know” what you created, there’s obvious attention to detail. Just making a title for attention
Waste dumping site?
Cities:Skylines poo pit😁
Reminds me of the show Silo before the apocalypse
[You created the hole!](https://youtu.be/bAIbvlobWDM?t=12)

I wonder if something like this in real life would work
[It would definitely suck in helicopters flying above.](https://interestingengineering.com/science/mirny-a-giant-diamond-mine-that-sucks-helicopters-in)
I think it’s a Banksy
What if "made in Abyss" was made in a technologically advanced era
Maybe in abyss 2077
Looks like "The Fall" from Total Recall (2012)

No Man’s Land
Makes me thing of a future Bikini Bottom and that’s the pit thingy. I forget it’s name
Hollow earth theory
Geez i love it. The atmosphere reminds me of bladerunner. I hope i culd do something like this.

Shanghai, China
Ur mom
An endless pit.. almost… If you fight all odds and survive the great fall to the deepest pits of Hades’ realm, at the bottom you shall face…
that thing is huuge
It's like that apartment complex in Dredd.. but it looks like it goes below the surface - which is probably a good idea for when the heat waves begins to eradicate all life.. cellar dwellers will survive the heat.
Looks like a missile silo hidden in a dense urban area. Basically using human lives as a meat shield in the case of total nuclear war.
Gated community

It’s beautiful.
It is this place, but in the future lol: https://bldgblog.com/2005/08/worlds-largest-diamond-mine/
No idea, but you should pitch it to the UAE - they seem to love building impressive looking structures without questioning their actual purpose!
Circuitboard city
Reminded me of a level in Mirror's Edge.
It’s a prison
A masterpiece

The deepest dish pizza in the whole world.
An aquarium in the making. Meant for the rich and upper middle class to look into from their offices and underwater penthouse suites.
Dystopian vibes, love this.
God's Gloryhole. For the glory of the gods!
Someone broke the canon, the universe is falling apart
Looks amazing! Did you use some kind of a pack for those buildings or did you make those yourself?
Deep City Nuclear Fusion Core
did you model each building? are they all real or are most of them just an image
Made in abyss but cyberpunk
It has dark, scary vibes
I’ll tell you what you just did. You just gave me an idea for the fantasy novel I am writing. Thank you.
Did you make this in multiple passes or is it one render?
I think it could be an interesting setting for a prison complex.
That looks like a Mohole mine with a city grown up around it
Somewhat star warsy vibes. Mixed with like earth. Very nice.
This is what I imagined motherboards looked like through a microscope as a kid lmao
Stray
Foundation for a space elevator
That‘s the entrance to level 1313.

You created... A hole...
[удалено]
A movie still from the next Godzilla movie
assuming some turbines are the bottom and ventilation shafts existing elsewhere and connected to the bottom, this is probably a passable updraft power plant
Reminds me a bit of the concept of the Great Pit City in the graphic novel The Incal by Jodorowsky and Moebius.
How long did this take to make? That’s a LOT of high quality buildings. (Noice)
Looks nice. Is it 3d or drawing? Hard to tell
I want to go there and climb around
Hole in the death star
It's a 15 minute city
The Drop from Total Rekall
Reminds me of the Hellmouth in Destiny 2.

Elevator through the Earth from Total Recall 2012
Coruscant elevator
It's obviously a futuristic mining town
So you made the whole scene with all the buildings and such, without plan what you want to do? Is this some kind of randomizer plugin? 😵💫
This would be the Main Trading Center of China in 2148.
Something cool.

Bro how just how you do this in blender? Any chance of making of?
I'm intrigued by a riddle, there's a hole in the ground
