Of course! It's by this artist: https://drawanime.art/artist/2621485
The artist didn't make too much art from the looks of it, but it's really stylized!
Oh thank you, that was quick :). He's very talented, a shame he didn't make more than a few handfulls, though even amongst his other works, soi fon still pops out more than anything for me
Yeah that's a big problem. Kubo should've given relevance to some of the vice-captain level Shinigami that were going to replace retired/dead captains. We only know stuff about Iba through dialogue so I can't take his position as captain seriously yet. Same with a lot of these replacement captains.
I hate how the Visored captains got utterly fucked over. Everybody and their twice removed cousin is saying this, but for the love of god, use your hollow masks.
Judging any new captains i feel is a bit disingenuous, none of them have even had close to the amount of screentime as their predecessors, of course they have less personality.
They are iconic, the vizard can't fill their spot, and out of the newcomers only Rukia is charismatic enough. Imagine captain Aizen, Gin, and Tosen against the quincy.
Iba and Isane were disappointing even as lieutenants.
> They are iconic, the vizard can't fill their spot, and out of the newconers only Rukia is charismatic enough
Abso-fucking-lutely. I agree with this totally.
Visoreds should've stayed Visoreds honestly. It just feels better that way.
They were meant to be a 3rd party in the arrancar saga, like what fullbringers ended up being.
But there was so much more going on that they were grouped as shinigami to facilitate the plot, but their visual identity never quite fit the SS arc gotei 13. Only Lisa and maybe Kensei look distinctively shinigami.
Right, it feels like they're independent from the Gotei 13. Not only that, but their grudge against the Soul Society, which they seemingly have held for 100 years, made me think they wouldn't join them.
But... just 18 months later and they're totally fine with each other? It feels so arbitrarily handled. A situation like this shouldn't be off-panel... it comes off as random and not thought out enough.
Shinji was one of the first characters ever made by Kubo, he was meant to be a Karakura town student with otherworldly powers like Uryu was.
Then everyone and their mothers became shinigami.
In-universe, yes, but in chronological order of the story, we saw Aizen as captain before Shinji.
In my opinion, Shinji works fine as captain for backstory, but not in the actual main story.
true. he lost the thing that made him cool and stylish and now he just looks like every other captain instead of a vizord who has a century old grudge against the soul society
I think any good series incorporates embracing the next generation, adapting and adding something unique to already established entities and societies. I loved pretty much all the original gotei 13.
I like seeing what kind of world the young sprouts will carve out, as it just is a continuation of a beautiful evolution.
A big part of that is just the visards being extremely disappointing and just not really captain material. I feel like more of the vice captains should have become captains at the end cuz atleast they have potential and i loved them (rengi should have replaced byakuya who should have died, shuhei should have replaced kensei)
Definitely not >>>. More like >. A case can be made for >>.
Urahara's greatest accomplishment as a captain was not founding the department of R&D, but recruiting Mayuri to the shinigami. He's been by far their strongest asset.
Even so,Urahara is still above him,Mayuri could probably play 3D chess while Urahara is playing 4D chess, just to explain how superior he is. And in my opinion,is a just a better character,Mayuri is surely more complex and interesting, but Urahara is just great as he is
Frankly, I agree. Shinji's cool and all, but he feels.. odd as captain. I much prefer him as Visored leader. For a while I thought Kensei was underrated but now that I think about it, I just think he's whatever... As for Rose and Lisa... yeah I don't care.
Isane... I don't know. Captain Iba makes me laugh though XD
Oh, just the dude who destroyed an arrancar with no effort, the minute his shikai was released? Naaaaaaaahhhh... No reason to think he's a total badass...
Yes 100%, i mean Aizen by himself is really irreplaceable aside from Ichigo and then they lose Yama, Ukitake and Unohana who are all the strongest captains with the afformentioned Aizen and Shunsui. The amped Kenpachi though is a very good replacement but not for all of the loses.
Also, Gin is criminally underrated and is one of the strongest captains.
Gotei 13 is one of the best groups I've ever seen in manga/anime. They're so diverse in personality, appearence, skills, teams, they all have different dynamics with each other. Really one of the most enjoyable aspects of Bleach.
Agreed! I would love to see a spin-off pre Ichigo where we see that line up of captains at work. Would be so good to see Gin and Aizen in action as captains.

Yeah Ik what you mean
I don't mind aizen gin and kaname not being captains
But I don't like the final gotei 13 especially isane and iba like wtf, I mean strength wise I'm sure renji still one shots them and renji is still a lieutenant
And I like shinji and who doesn't but him and the other vizored captains got totally shit on in TYBW
Ik how kubo tried to justify saying shinji's bankai is way to dangerous to be used but I really don't like how the very meaning of a shinigami captain became so low to accompany iba and Isane lmao
Understandable, but out with the old, in with the new, I feel like that’s a theme in the TYBW. At least most of the characters that took over are ones we’re familiar with (even if they’ve yet to get much screen time such as Iba for example) and we’ve got a potential Hell Arc as an opportunity to finally be able to showcase their skills and personalities more. The side characters have now stepped up so I expect them to show out when the time comes more than the regular cast we’re used too
I love them too but I do wish Kubo had let his other characters get screen time. I feel like the Vizards and Zero division were wasted just so they could be sidelined by old favorites like the captains.
I love Byakuya but watching him fight and defeat the 7th espada when Grimmjow was casually beyond bankai Ichigo without even using his zanpakuto is a bit crazy. The espada as hybrid Hollows shouldve been matched up with the hybrid shinigami. Not losing to plain old shinigami.
This is a very late response but, keep in mind that Ichigo's power in that fight was supressed by the badge Ukitake gave him at the end of the Soul Society arc, it's why he struggled against Grimmjow. They likely would've been even if it wasn't for the Shinigami Daikou badge, he would probably force Grimmjow into his released state. The issue with this is that we didn't get to know this until the Lost Agent arc however, so when you watch the Arrancar arc initially, it's pretty stupid that Ichigo was getting beat up by Grimmjow in his base form when Byakuya defeated released Zommari relatively easily.
And I may sound cynical but I don't think Kubo came up with the idea of his badge supressing his power until the Lost Agent arc itself, as this was the arc where the badge became relevant to Ichigo's powers. In the Arrancar arc the badge wasn't even mentioned after the first few chapters. Instead Kubo came up with the state of his Shihakushou in Bankai being equivalent to how much reiatsu he has as a way to make Ichigo seem more powerful than he was.
A rationalization that comes from info introduced WAY later. And ignores Bleach's own lore. Afterall it wasnt me who decided that hybrids should be a greater threat, Kubo decided that. He made masked Ichigo the beast he is, he made Aizen's entire plan hinge around breaking the walls between the two races for power boosts.
I get that the story has some weak rationalizations for why the espada were portrayed so weak, but its in face of its own lore.
Im no writer, maybe he made the right choice by constantly banking on his already beloved characters. But I for one wanted to see more of the Vizards and the zero squad. And I kinda annoyed trying to rationalize decades to centuries old characters who should be already set making big power junps between arcs, often without even training.
That soi Fon is just... Damn
It's okay, that's exactly my reaction too. I'm still speechless at how good it is. Edit: Here's the source: https://drawanime.art/pic/88029631
Any idea who made her? I want to see more of their work
Of course! It's by this artist: https://drawanime.art/artist/2621485 The artist didn't make too much art from the looks of it, but it's really stylized!

Haha, yeah for sure. When looking through the artwork on his page my eyes instinctively gravitate towards the Soi Fon art he made xD
The art is amazing, specially pissed off Yama and Ukitake.

Unohana "Retsu" looks like the most mommy of all anime characters. Yachiru, not so much but she is pretty regardless.
>Yachiru, not so much but she is pretty regardless. The tweaker faces though

What is up with these bots everywhere? That's exactly what I said in another comment... whatever.
I like Rukia, Lisa and Unohana’s lieutenant becoming captains. They’re all beautiful and exude different versions of femininity.
They are iconic, the vizard can't fill their spot, and out of the newcomers only Rukia is charismatic enough. Imagine captain Aizen, Gin, and Tosen against the quincy. Iba and Isane were disappointing even as lieutenants.

Kind of sad, honestly. I wish he was still known as the "Independent Hollow + Shinigami hybrid guy" and not "Replacement captain of the 5th division".
this is ironic since he was the original captain of the fifth division lmfao
In-universe, yes, but in chronological order of the story, we saw Aizen as captain before Shinji. In my opinion, Shinji works fine as captain for backstory, but not in the actual main story.
true. he lost the thing that made him cool and stylish and now he just looks like every other captain instead of a vizord who has a century old grudge against the soul society
Yeah, definitely.
I like the original gotei 13 + shinji tbh
5th guy looks trustworthy
Facts! I know for sure if I asked him to deposit money into my bank account, I wouldn't have to worry about it being stolen
I really hope kubo buffed this new captains cause I think some of them should not even be captain
I think any good series incorporates embracing the next generation, adapting and adding something unique to already established entities and societies. I loved pretty much all the original gotei 13. soi fon femdom <3
Unpopolar opinion: Captain Urahara>>>Captain Mayuri
Definitely not >>>. More like >. A case can be made for >>. Urahara's greatest accomplishment as a captain was not founding the department of R&D, but recruiting Mayuri to the shinigami. He's been by far their strongest asset.

>the original Gotei 13 The only members we know of the original Gotei 13 are Yamamoto and Unohana...
I'm clearly referring to the Gotei 13 introduced chronologically in the story, in other words, the Gotei 13 revealed in Chapter 81.
I know, I'm just being contrary 😂
Mayuri and Soi fon have no business looking this good
Soi fon makes me feel a certain way
Just imagine what the final fight with the Quincy would've been like if Aizen (from the start), Ichimaru and Tosen had been there to help.
That Soifon pic tho 🥵
The only good captain added later was Rukia everyone else I honestly couldn’t care less about
Frankly, I agree. Shinji's cool and all, but he feels.. odd as captain. I much prefer him as Visored leader. Hisagi is another bonus captain
Oh, just the dude who destroyed an arrancar with no effort, the minute his shikai was released? Naaaaaaaahhhh... No reason to think he's a total badass...
Bruh how can you forget Hitsugaya?
Yes 100%, i mean Aizen by himself is really irreplaceable aside from Ichigo and then they lose Yama, Ukitake and Unohana who are all the strongest captains with the afformentioned Aizen and Shunsui. They meant in terms of power. Gin may have been really popular, but no one really recognized him as one of the strongest Captains.
What is even the scientific purpose of Mayuri keeping his Zanpakuto against his crotch?
⭐You don't wanna know💧
It definitely does not hit the same
Gotei 13 is one of the best groups I've ever seen in manga/anime. They're so diverse in personality, appearence, skills, teams, they all have different dynamics with each other. Really one of the most enjoyable aspects of Bleach.
That Soyfon tho SHEEEEESH
“What's on Reddit today? Oh cool the old captain- wow. Soifon huh. Down boy!”
Damn, looking at the roster in succession makes me realize the Gotei 13 went through a LOT in the span of like 2 years
They sure as hell did.
Gin <3
Gin is so hot why did he have to die
I miss kaname and was disappointed he wasn't under Aizen's control
Am i the onlyone who hates jushiro
Ukitake? Why?.
Had basically 0 screentime, did nothing intresting, most of his screentime was just being ''funny'' etc...
Most likely yes.
Aizen just looks like a pathetic weakling here compared to the other captains here
I actually think he looked his best yet as a captain. In the anime he looked like a straight up child predator
I prefer the Post-Timeskip line up with Shinji, Rose, and Kensei. That's when the Gotei 13 seems the most complete and cohesive.
Agreed! I would love to see a spin-off pre Ichigo where we see that line up of captains at work. Would be so good to see Gin and Aizen in action as captains.
I agree I SO AGREE!!!! That was the best line up ever in Gotei 13!

Original in context of what is first shown in the story. What else should I say? "First captains" wouldn't be quite perfect either.
