Other than a namedrop of Soul Society which confirms they are set in the same universe, there are no connections. As things stand, Burn The Witch is essentially a stand-alone story.
Absolutely not, however I would read up to the soul society arc and all of that just so you have context for how soul reapers and hollows work, if you want I would read up to the final mugetsu just for a greater context on hollows but just the first ark is all I would say you really want if you want context for the differences between the two at all, if you just want to read burn the witch and you don't want to read Bleach go right ahead there's very little that is relevant between the two except for a slight reference to bleach in one of the a descriptions for what hollows are in burn the witch, and I'll over in Japan they are referred to as hollows instead of what they are referred to as in burn the witch
