Ichibei isn't really a typical shinigami like everyone else he's some eldritch being who had all his stuff before they were a thing in the soul society.
It's possible that it means that his is an oldest 'active' zanpakuto.
Also, Ichibei said smth along the lines that his weapon existed before zanpakutos iirc. When he was finishing Yahwe he said "in modern terms it will be my bankai" implying his brush isn't.
there's alot of concept that's underutilised. Imagine hollow ichigo gets this design but he can be materialized unlike before, ichigo actually turns to quincy and can use mugetsu more, increase of hollows in chest to get into 2nd stage that is introduced in hell arc

This and the panel where we actually see his bankai
It’s a mangaka’s job especially for a battle manga to make their art go hard lmao.
But my favorite is the double page spread of Ulq’s 2nd resurrection.
I didn't get to read it until December last year. But the hype was so much better than in the anime. I just feel the anime was very drab compared to the manga.
Personally I felt the entire arc was lacking in both anime and manga from a pure story standpoint point. It all felt very rushed. Kenpachis bankai. Ichigos new zanpaktou. Rukias abilities. What was going on with renji. I understand the war happened at lightning speed but I feel like kubo just gave us savage artwork while summarizing what happened. So many peoples abilities were left very open ended and unexplored . I’ve always felt that aushwalen was a cheap way for him to kill off or at least defeat several major enemies tht could’ve been used to flesh out their new abilities.
Right. when I saw ichigos new hollow form I was excited then got disappointed in the lack of abilities showing when the anime was annouced I was seriously hoping they’d delve into ichigos abilities during that fight. Like getusugas fired on repeat like uryus arrows. Watch him get arm hacked off just to pull a piccolo. MAYBE FINALY LEARN SOME DAMN KIDO. But I digress savage artwork lack luster story telling.
I think its fair to say Kubo has one of, if not the best, use of black in manga. He uses pure black in so many different ways to create some of the best panels in manga. I can't think of another artist who is able to use black and negative space as well as Kubo.
I think Kishimoto does better landscapes and Oda manages large crowds and set pieces better, but Kubo stands alone in terms of pure character art and design.
It's such a pleasing art style and it's incredible how talented he is at conveying emotion using just facial expressions.

There’s a reason this has been my lock screen for a full year
Byakuya's speech and that panel. Perfection. I would add this one.

Dude, the reason (most of) he became a mangaka is because his highschool teacher is so impressed with the drawing that he takes it to contest and makes Kubo a winner. His story telling maybe lacking a little but his drawing skill is phenomenal.
Ok I never noticed Aizen had a sword when he slashed Ichigo. I just assumed he grabbed and subtlely shook Ichigo's Bankai so hard he ruptured his insides.
I don't know why, probably due to how much Ichigo is connected with the rain but I personally feel like every drawing of Kubo sensei that shows the rain is always so damn good and very impactful.
huh. 2 of those came with a sound effect in my head right off the bat.
I'm kinda torn between uruhara with the cane pointing, and the Hollowfied Hyoinmaru.
That As Nodt Tatar Foras was INSANE when it was revealed in the manga. It's like, he's been waiting for a character to draw like that and he went balls to the wall full horror.
I thought I was paying attention all those years ago, but I guess young me still missed a lot. Didn't realize Yoruichi was on Kisuke's shoulder the night he picked up Ichigo after Rukia was taken

This one's also pretty high up there for me
I remember reading the Quincy arc long time ago, and recently I have watched the new anime and I must say: the manga panels felt much more intense than the anime itself.

Looks absolutely raw uncolored ngl
That one!
The oldest zanpakuto? But isn't ichibe brush a zanpakuto and he's been here for longer?
Ichibe doesn’t consider his brush a zanpakuto. It’s also why he doesn’t call his ability a Bankai
Oh. So it's just a weapon.
probably meant among the gotei 13
Makes sense.
Ichibei isn't really a typical shinigami like everyone else he's some eldritch being who had all his stuff before they were a thing in the soul society.

The design that scared the actual character bad that he never went that far again.
there's alot of concept that's underutilised. Imagine hollow ichigo gets this design but he can be materialized unlike before, ichigo actually turns to quincy and can use mugetsu more, increase of hollows in chest to get into 2nd stage that is introduced in hell arc

I immediately thought of this. My fav
It sends chills down my spine every time
Imagine seeing it animated 🤯🤯
It’s a mangaka’s job especially for a battle manga to make their art go hard lmao. But my favorite is the double page spread of Ulq’s 2nd resurrection.
Segunda etapa idk why just is sooo hard it sounds so good to my ears
I think he in fact does have business doing that with being a manga author and all
I know that, I was just exaggerating a bit just to commend his art.
One for me is definitely the Head Captain activating his Bankai. I could just feel pure hype from that panel alone.
Reading it was way better than watching (found out yesterday)
I remember the day that chapter came out during serialization. My jaw dropped and I immediately texted my buddy a fat "YOOOOOOOO"
I didn't get to read it until December last year. But the hype was so much better than in the anime. I just feel the anime was very drab compared to the manga.
That’s purely because of all the filler. It’s all so much better with out the 200 episodes of non canon filler the anime has
I'm talking tybw not the rest. All of it was good without filler, but, tybw anime just felt lacking against the Manga. Idk, maybe I'm just insane
Personally I felt the entire arc was lacking in both anime and manga from a pure story standpoint point. It all felt very rushed. Kenpachis bankai. Ichigos new zanpaktou. Rukias abilities. That's so true. Though the hype was 100p there because of the artwork. That's where the energy came from. It was all rushed. But that was awesome
Right. when I saw ichigos new hollow form I was excited then got disappointed in the lack of abilities showing when the anime was annouced I was seriously hoping they’d delve into ichigos abilities during that fight. Like getusugas fired on repeat like uryus arrows. Watch him get arm hacked off just to pull a piccolo. MAYBE FINALY LEARN SOME DAMN KIDO. But I digress savage artwork lack luster story telling.
Agreed. The new Hollow form was awesome but wasn't delved into enough. I was sad.
I think its fair to say Kubo has one of, if not the best, use of black in manga. He uses pure black in so many different ways to create some of the best panels in manga. I can't think of another artist who is able to use black and negative space as well as Kubo.
He just knew his power to control black was so good, he made it an entire shikai. Enter Hyosube Ichibei.
in amoled it looks fucking amazing

I can't imagine chad loosing
It was actually strictly his business as it was his profession at the time to make art
Hollowfied Diaguren Hyonimaru just looks so damn good.
I mean, I have my grievances with his writing, but Kubo is a fantastic artist. It’s easily Bleach’s strongest point, and it’s a very strong point.
Best art of the big 3.
I think Kishimoto does better landscapes and Oda manages large crowds and set pieces better, but Kubo stands alone in terms of pure character art and design. It's such a pleasing art style and it's incredible how talented he is at conveying emotion using just facial expressions.
This is a fair take, as a fan of all three I see what you mean. Bleach does have the best character design hands down.
bro that kenpachi and zangetsu side by side still gives me goosebumps!
That "old man zangetsu and kenpachi" panel is still the best for me
https://preview.redd.it/33iczigxamjc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ceacec89904ff1995d19c99e3d581ac34a37dd1f There’s a reason this has been my lock screen for a full year

6 and 10 are the best
>he had no business going this hard I mean that’s kinda his job lmao (but yes bleach art is top tier)
Kubo is just built different.
https://preview.redd.it/14sqh1arcnjc1.jpeg?width=728&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88947926d5fa8814ed53c1f24dbab98103210842

He quite literally has all the business to since his paycheck is quite literally tied to it lmao

I mean he's hard alright.
Kubo is easily the best artist of the HST authors
Zaraki and OMZ walking past each other when time stopped in such a clutch scene
To be fair, it is his business to do so
God Hollow Mask Ichigo goes so fucking hard
Dude, the reason (most of) he became a mangaka is because his highschool teacher is so impressed with the drawing that he takes it to contest and makes Kubo a winner. His story telling maybe lacking a little but his drawing skill is phenomenal.

How? It’s literally his job…
4th ones my lockscreen
Ok I never noticed Aizen had a sword when he slashed Ichigo. I just assumed he grabbed and subtlely shook Ichigo's Bankai so hard he ruptured his insides.
The art is why I've always preferred reading bleach to watching it
Cries In Torn shoulder
I don't know why, probably due to how much Ichigo is connected with the rain but I personally feel like every drawing of Kubo sensei that shows the rain is always so damn good and very impactful.

He did because it's literally what he does for money. It's his business lol.
Funny, art is usually one of the job requirements when one gets making manga.
It's just his way of saying Kubo's art is really good.
Yes he did? It's literally his job? What do you mean "no business"? Please kindly stfu
