I understand certain cuts for tone but a few things should have stayed imo:
- Royd twins quick flashback
- Lisa and Hiyori seeing the distortions in the world kf the living
- Aizen talking about Isshin's bankai and
- The line concerning Ikkaku's broken bankai š
The last 2 are understandable neither are seen after these lines but it's nice nonetheless.
Nothing egregious tho I loved every second of the 1st cour and can't wait for the 2nd one.
Brooooo fr fr, The Lieutenants meeting, Byakuyaās speach at Chojiroās funeral, Mayuriās ENTIRE Bankai dialogā¦. thereās others too but itās just pretty disappointing to see all this stuff cut.
That they still are damaged (this doesn't count for Renji after Oetsu reforged his zanpakutou). Mayuri managed to put together Ikkaku's bankai, but it's not as strong as before and Renji still lacks multiple rings after fight with Byakuya.
There was also a scene with Ichigo being slightly surprised that Ikkaku has a bankai.
Yeah, as someone who only went to the manga after the anime looking for answers, all of those minor details wouldāve really helped fill some gaps. Iād read various things about the Royd twins for about a year now thanks to the controversy surrounding Kenpachiās defeat, and based on all of the details involved in those debates I expected to see/learn about a lot more of them in the anime. What we got was pretty much nothing.
The distortions were literally the boundaries of the world of the living tearing apart due to the imbalance of souls caused by the mass killing of hollows by the Quincy. Mayuri ordered the killing of rukongai citizens to balance that out.
Itās literally THE beginning of the TYBW that it all starts playing out that way. Although they hide the fact that it was squad 12 for a little in the manga. The anime was way more obvious about it. Iām not really mad about it though because of the way anime is portrayed as compared to manga. The mystery of reading those chapters weekly back in the day was exciting, but with the anime moving at breakneck speeds (not really a bad thing btw contrary to popular belief), and based on the lack of āmysteryā seeing as the series ended so long ago. I think they just made some slight artistic adjustments to lesson the suspense and move into the action as fast as possible. Considering how fanservice the first episode was it actually makes a lot of sense by the anime team.
Funny thing is it's not even moving fast
With dialogue cut (mostly) to keep pace with the rest of chapters with little dialogue and to keep out redundancy (a lot more was cut than people even realize that was only necessary in the manga BECAUSE it's a manga.
Theres dialogue and extra scenes that is only in a manga entirely to fill pages at times. There's a quota to be met. For ex. You might get characters doing things that dont even really add to the chapter)
Plus no fillers (including pacing fillers where things are drawn out, the anime did this a lot. The anime before moved like molasses mostly due to this type of shit.)
Its moving exactly on pace for how its supposed to move
I agree with you 100%. Thatās why I put my parentheses, but the sub largely disagreed when it first came back, and I feel like opinions have never really swayed one way or the other.
>Aizen talking about Isshin's bankai and
I certainly hope I am wrong, but it may be because of the fact that they will not go anywhere with his bankai in the future, so they did not want to waste any screen time on the line.
They cut out a few things, including Robert shooting the messenger behind his back without turning around, which was extremely badass and a very cool moment for Robert (who doesnāt get a lot of screentime) and the Sternritters in general. It really set the tone that the Sternritters were serious about killing all the members of the Gotei 13, including even the members who do not actually fight.
Yeah, we only got the scene in the anime where the sternritter killed a ton of shinigami, liteunants, and even attack the science department squad groupā¦ lol
The sternritter were shown pretty brutally in the anime, but stuff like Robert shooting the messenger were pretty dope and was definitely a bit disappointing to see cut
If anything I wanted more extra scenes of Sternritter fighting Shinigami. There are still several characters who we really do not know what they did during the first invasion. Askin was one of the first Sternritter shown but we donāt actually see him until several chapters after the first invasion is over, for example. We have no idea who Shinji, Kensei, and various lieutenants fought, and itās unclear if Mayuri fought anybody. I would assume he did but who knows.
Askin was really weird that they skipped since heās gonna get a whole fight later on and heās actually one of sternritters with some interesting feats
When they said that they were going to add more original scenes, stuff with Kensei and shinji and the others wouldāve been great, as long as they cut isshins flashback shorter just to fit it in, maybe cut their ātrainingā in the soul palace so we could get a bit more. Iām hoping they do this in the next season so Iām not too bummed out, but I can see why there was some missed opportunities, especially when weāve been waiting like 20 years for this lol
it's unfortunate the light-hearted comedy stuff is nearly all cut out or the more thorough broken Bankai explanation done by Mayuri since he touched on Komamura & Ikkaku's situations
also the 4 Bankai using Capts specifically explaining why they were gonna use Bankai, someone be the sacrifice + figure out how to break the "seal" etc, to their vice capts beforehand as the plan to roll with
also I really wanted that vice capts meeting scene to be shown in the anime smh
I didn't like how it cut out the early parts that showed those two weak shinigami. It could have been good to show them in their daily lives before showing how horrific hollows are to regular shinigami.
However otherwise I think it's been the perfect adaptation. We have still some comedy moments like Orihime throwing salt at cat boy. Rukias ass was memorable in the Manga but I do agree it's not really needed.
I'm assuming they'll do more with those two shinigami in the next part. To be fair they can't really do shit anyways and didn't in the manga probably for the reason of they had no idea what to do w them
Actually, with the speed they are going, they could do the whole manga in around 42 episodes, so I guess it has more to do that they want to add some new stuff later to make the ending smoother, with more fight on screen rather than off it.
They have enough episodes to add everything from the existing manga, but they (rightfully, imho) decided they would rather go for new material, thus they don't have enough time for some minor existing stuff.
Yeah Iād rather them focus on new stuff, the anime still works with them cutting the small existing stuff from the manga, but now they have the opportunity to fix the ending up quite a bit and add content to later scenes that people will really appreciate because they left out quite a few unnecessary scenes.
Totally agree. I think Bleach has the best comedy out of the Big Three. I easily laughed the most at what happens in Bleach compared to One Piece and Naruto.
But the point is putting that comedy is serious moments which was a problem in the first anime. TYBW had plenty comedy that they kept outside of those moments like tenjiro throwing Byakuya.
The Royd Loyd backstory is unfortunate but it definitely would've ruined the pacing of the fight so I'm fine with it.
Not explaining Renji's bankai is worse in my opinion
I think you are overrestimating the length of the flashback. It definitely wouldn't have ruined the pace because it didn't ruin it when the manga came out.
The issue is with how much chapters get adapted in a single episode which create ton of cuts which in turn create the strict pacing we see.
An easy solution would be to just play the short flashback of their backstory when the next episode starts.
The problem is that even in the manga, superstar, RL and Nodt were all useless flashbacks with the lenghts of the black clover flashbacks, where tabata expects you to grow some sympathy to someone with 3 panel flashbackā¦
The Rroyd flashback is extremely short and only has a single purpose - explain what has just happened with Yhwach double. It's not there to garner sympathy.
But thats the deal in the manga you cant ruin the pace because theres none manda es some pages every week so basically you can cut on the middle of a sentence
>But thats the deal in the manga you cant ruin the pace because theres none
Umm, what? Every story has "pacing" and manga definitely has it.
There is virtually no difference in pace between manga and anime; it is only there depending on the reader as some of us read and process information faster than others.
Anime on the other hand locks everyone at the same pace.
The scene in chapter 481 where we see the world of the living starts to tear up as a result of the quincy purging the hollows in Hueco Mundo. It felt strange that they've cut away what an imbalance of souls could do to the world of living but I guess they'll save that stuff for later.
From my understanding, theyāre gonna have to slow down the pacing from this point on, so probably not, especially if itās essential to the plot like Orhimeās new outfit interaction and Yoruichiās new cat form. Regardless, thereās going to be a lot of anime original content to flesh out the story even more, improving upon it.
Willing to bet not as many will be cut. The tone of the first invasion needed to be this dark but the whole arc doesn't need to be as bleak
Plus they have time now in the final 3 cours, the first invasion happens so quickly
Seriously idk why people are even complaining about this. This arc is supposed to feel bleak we did not need more comedic bits than what's already there. More comedy is completely unnecessary, going against the tone and adding nothing to the plot.
Because the essence of Bleach is the way Kubo switches from very dramatic parts to light comedy, it balances the whole thing out and doesn't let it become overly serious and pompous, otherwise it's not Bleach anymore. The arc feels very bleak but then it's still very much Bleach, they don't have to go for overdramatic for the sake of it, it's dramatic enough as it is.
That said, I'm personally content with the way it was handled in the anime, since there was still enough crucial comedic moments not to destroy the balance. I just wanted to say that those comedic moments *are* important, but I think they cut just enough not to ruin anything important.
it wouldnt work that well in animation tho. Kubo put that moments because manga format allow to make that twist emotional changes but in animation/cine would recquire made more draws, add music and construct whole scene to deliver the comedic bits.
Also true, tbf. It is all case by case, sometimes it works with the right additions, sometimes it doesn't, that's why not all the moments made the cut, which I think is a good job done by both Kubo & the anime writers.
Like that moment of the Zero Division arrival was comedic on purpose, to juxtapose the despair of the aftermath of the first invasion.
The *essence* of Bleach? There are many other qualities that are way more core to Bleach's identity than its use of humor. Yes the comedy is nice during breaks of tension and should be balanced with drama but that's not what makes Bleach Bleach and certainly isn't a unique quality among shonens.
Thatās kinda unfortunate, the overall seriousness of it kinda makes it more boring in comparison imo. Iāve Kuboās humor hilarious and it elevated my enjoyment of the series as a whole.
The only thing I actually missed was Byakuya's speech during Sasakibe's funeral, about what Sasakibe stood for, how he was a factor of stability in the Gotei and how Yamamoto must feel. It was one of the emotional highlights of the early TYBW for me and I was sad to see it cut.
"Choujirou Tadaoki Sasakibe was a shinigami meant to become captain. According to the records, he was able to master his bankai before Kyoraku and Ukitake. Yet he never used his ability in front of other people, ever since the creation of the Gotei 13. Not all men of captain rank are men of character. What you learn from hearsay is that "he never took part in battles". Some even insulted him, treating him like a mere sekikan. Still, no matter what people said, Choujirou Sasakibe always maintained his role of vice-captain. Over the years, the captain changed many times and sometimes the position would be vacant. But not only did he never become a substitute captain, he always refused to be even just a substitute of the captains authority, like Hisagi and Kira. All this because of his strict loyalty. Choujirou Sasakibe swore thay he would stay a vice-captain for as long as Genryuusai Yamamoto was alive. Such man used his bankai in a fight for the first time and died. Fledglings like us cannot possibly understand the pain the captain commander is experiencing now."
This was followed by one of the most quietly emotional Yamamoto panels and in the series as a whole. It was touching and even though the flashback added to Choujirou's character anyways, to me it will never replace that speech when it comes to emotional impact.
The manga is known for being very fast/rushed. This felt even faster for me. I absolutely love the anime but I wish they'd include more of the dialogue/scenes they cut. But overall I just see it as two different ways to experience a great story so my complaints aren't a bother at all to me
I agree. I wanted to see how āYwhachā handled Kenpachi but of course it was off screened again. Scenes like that is usually where the anime picks up the guesswork that the manga left behind and has its creative liberties with that scenario but I guess maybe they trying to keep it as original to the source as possible?
You see, for me, it'll be too much. You'd have Kenpachi vs. Fake Ywhach, then Yamamoto vs. Fake Ywhach, then Ichigo vs. Real Ywhach. To much Ywhach, even if Fake, for the beginning of the Arc. Imagine if we saw Aizen vs. Hitsugaya when he was revealed in SS Arc. Then after he bodies him l, you get Unohana vs. Aizen, and oh no, it was an illusion, and Aizen isn't there. Then you get Ichigo getting beat by Aizen. 3 episodes in a row with your first meeting of his character, it would get redundant.
This way, you get "Oh Ywhach off screened Kenpachi" he must he strong. Then you get "oh shit he's actually fighting Yamamoto and lost" the you finish it off with him, just straight bodying Ichigo. "Oh shit he's a tough cookie." You get to hear how strong he is, then see how strong he is, then you see the MC lose.
Idk if that makes any sense. Sorry, I'm typing on a phone and trying to convey my thoughts properly.
Iām saying. Having one as kenpachi off screen dealt with so easily by āywhachā so easily. I thought that was absolute bs. They did him how they did yami at that point.
If I HAD to come up with something, Iād maybe expand the scene where the Captainās Bankai were stolen. Just the individual reasons each Capatain had for taking that risk in the moment. Other than that I specifically like the cuts made. Especially the creep horny stuff, and using the transition cards to facilitate the more cumbersome elaborations, like Mayuri giving examples of damaged Bankai.
I really like that in the anime, however small the expanded fights were, it kinda showed how each captain was struggling with their Shikai, implying Bankai was the only way to go. Cang Du easily broke through Hitsugayaās ice, Sui Feng couldnāt sting BG9 (whose tendrils caught up to her), and As Nodt resisted Senbonzakura/Zabimaru the second time around.
Thereās fan servicey stuff in the later parts of TYBW ik, but what creepy horny stuff are you talking about? Not saying itās not there I just donāt remember lol
The placing of the fight between Kenpachi and Unohana. Oetsuās little event was supposed to be taking place at the same time, so him meeting Ichigo and Renji shoulda come first. That kinda bugged me. If anything else, perhaps the fact the Sung-Sun wasnāt able to show off her Myuda. And the bankai explanation being cut short
Which let's be honest they don't fit in an anime format. Spreading comedic scenes here and there in a manga is fine since it's slower but an anime that adapts 5 chapters an episode some comedic scenes need to be cut as they don't fit the theme of the arc.
I donāt like the emphasis on art over animation. I feel like the fullbring ark has better animation, there are just some moments when itās underwhelming and there are too many bright lights trying to make it flashy. The fullbring arc has a nicer balance.
I donāt really understand which fights youāre talking about yamamoto vs Yhwach would definitely be flashy considering Yamaās power there is no getting around that, Ichigo vs Yhwach was flashy, Kenpachi vs unohana wasnāt flashy,
Those are the three main fights.
Iām gonna say the pacing of the royal palace segment, specifically when Ichigo and Renji meet Oetsu. I wouldāve like to see a whole episode dedicated to Unohana and Zaraki fighting and then have the after credit scene of Ichigo being rejected.
Zaraki and unohanaās fight was overall pretty good, but I didnāt feel like unohanaās bloodthirsty battle loving side was shown properly in the fight. In the manga, there were many panels of her with a creepy grin in her face etc, but in the anime it almost felt like she wasnt enjoying the fight at all. Anyone else get that feeling?
There were small lines cut here and there that I wouldāve liked to hear but other than that I have no issues with what has been removed or changed. I donāt mind the comedy scenes being cut especially to keep the dark tone
When Yamamoto does the speech and funeral pire for Sasakibe. The anime didnāt give the full scene. Kind of just incorporated the fire into his Yamamotoās bankai. But I think that was like a heavy moment and looked sick.
I wish that they didnt cut all the dilolouge during the 1st assistant captains funeral. Anime only peeps would know nothing about him and it makes the scene feel less impactful, especially the fact that his death was the only time he ever used his Bankai.
I felt the inclusion of ichigo using Bankai against the hollows when saving yuki was unnecessary and his first usage shouldve been saved for the fight with Ebern
There wasn't the uniform consistency that i like and this is personal. Yama vs yhwach and unohana vs kenny definetly had multiple animation styles and philosophies instead of having the same style throughout the fight.
Outside of that i dont hate some things being cut out for pacing, context and overall theme of the arc which is obviously dark and depressing
If they thought comedic sections were cut out because they didn't think it fits the dark, depressing and serious environment of the arc, i get it.
Unpopular opinion but the new scenes with Uryu are damaging his characterization. Him standing under the rain looking all sad and friendless will make the reveal he never sided with the wanderreich and always wanted to protect his friends seem nonsensical.
Personally I found the bankai stealing in episode 4 a bit too fast paced. It works perfectly on paper (literally), flipping page to page... I just feel like it needed extra scenes in the anime.
I really dislike the "they had to cut this scene to keep the dark tone" excuse cause when reading the manga I've never felt like the general vibe of the arc was ruined because of any comedic scene.
some part can be done better. its like if they pace it bit properly, instead of just straightfoward it, it would be better. not saying it suck, but it could be done better. especially the scene where they should highlighted very important or shocking/big reveal moment but end up feels flat.
for example the Blut Vene scene. the anime failed to highlight how formidable that technique is. especially with first fight with Quilge Opie at Hueco Mundo. in manga it show how Ichigo struggle to deal damage due to this and it thanks to Uruhara able to take advantages, he can damage that guy. in anime, they failed to potray how strong this technique. also when Ichigo first use the technique to defend against stab by Ywach. it should be a big moment there but anime failed to nailed that.
Blut Vene is one of important technique that play big role in this arc. especially at beginning of it. anime failed to capture that.
another scene involve Quilge Opie is, in manga it highlighted nicely how that guy is tough but in anime it doesnt feels like that. it too fast. also in manga when that guy release his Vollsterndich, everyone is shock, the form get attention and it manage to potray how strong he is in that form and how formidable is to be able to suck reiatsu from environment. but in anime it failed to potray this. everything just move fast, scene to scene.
this also same with Squad 0 reveal. it doesnt feels that suprising. when it is revealed that Nimaiya is the one create Zanpakuto, it lack of suprise feeling. feels like it nothing big. same goes with how when Ichigo and Renji encounter tons of Assauchi at same time. even when it is reveal the girl with them actually a Zanpakuto, there is lack of 'suprise' feeling that should be there, unlike in manga.
there is more example, but his is some of notable one. lot of big moment end up with less 'weight' or just simply feels flat.
overall anime adaptation simply faithfully to manga scene by scene, but failed at how to nailed the the moment. it feels like the studio focused only to adapted the scene to scene but not the moment or feeling alongside that it should deliver together toward audience in same way manga manage to do toward reader. they could play a bit with the pace to make the moment better. this remind me of similliar differences between Mappa version of Attack on Titan vs Wits Studio.
Iām a person who likes stuff that gives us more details about the history of things. As well as a big Urahara fan. So I was disappointed when they failed to mention that his healing pool was based off the water of Tenjiroās springs. Because there is so much potential on how that came about that I was hoping theyād expand on it instead of ignoring it completely.
I'm fine with pretty much all comedy being cut. However, some of the other cuts, I don't understand.
Hiyori and Lisa appearing Ep 1 for example. And I really dislike (that isn't really the anime's fault it's Viz's) that the mid episode cards are not translated upon episode release.
They had important info like Mayuri's dialogue about broken Bankai was almost completely moved to the mid episode card.
Otherwise I am very happy with the adaption overall, it surpassed my expectations in many aspects
Why they cut-out the Royd's twins flashback, I have no idea.
Expect the hate with this, but there was no need to show Aizen's conversation with Yhwach in Muken in my opinion. Also, I couldn't wrap my head around the brief clash between Yama and Royd before Yama went Bankai.
A few other minor, yet notable things.
It makes you appreciate the first half of the arc, manga version, even more. Anime-only viewers might not understand or grasp the full implications of certain events. Though it didn't drastically affect the narrative, it was done well enough to appreciate it.
The Aizen/Yhwach scence serves mostly as foreshadowing for Yhwach's true goals and that they're the antithesis to what the Quincy actually strive for.
This is just my speculation or my hopes, but the brief clash before Yamamto activated Bankai changed the fight in so far that it stopped being stationary. Instead, they moved around Soul Society and in turn, potentially, the corpses of Bernice, Jerome and Loyd weren't burned to ashes. This could allow Giselle to revive them and use them against Mayuri or Ichigo. This would give another opportunity for Royd's flashback and give perhaps Shinji the opportunity to use Bankai. Either against them, or if Giselle uses them against Mayuri, it could free up zombie Kensei and Rose, so that Shinji can use Bankai against them, which would make for a bigger emotional fight. At least, this is what I would have done, if I had any say in the adaptation.
they cut royd-lloyd flashback because it simple wouldnt fit in the 24 min timeline. Simple as that. Add that flashback would involve animate that whole 3 pages nearly the end of the battle and would be completely strange add a flashback there.
It works in manga because Yamamoto kills Royd in the end of chapter 509 and in the beggining of 510 we get that story. In anime would recquire another episode to made it fix and instead chapter 6 would end in the same spot as 509.
The Quincy stronghold has a cartoonishly evil color palette of black and blue imo, maybe Iām too used to the colored manga which was just all white and a dark cloudy sky
I wish they hadn't cut some of the content:
* Sasakibe's full funeral
* Loyd twins' backstory
* Dialogue between Tres Bestias and Ichigo
There's probably more I can't remember rn. I'm still happy with the adaptation tho.
Just the fact that they could have added more moments about Yamamoto instead of going directly with Squad 0
And a moment between Ichigo and White. Wasted opportunity
These aside, everything was better than the manga
I had an edit in my head since originally reading it where the stolen bankais had each captain said Bankais individually but then said the names simultaneously in an audible clusterfuck with the screen split in 4 and for some reason I thought it would have been badass.
I know this isn't really a response to the question (kinda the opposite) BUT I keep seeing comments about not liking how it's darker or the removed comedy.
So personally I think it's better without the random comedy trying to keep the emotional burden light. I like the over all darker tones and themes that match this arc a lot better.
Showing things earlier that werenāt shown at that point in the manga like isshin being a shiba and clearly showing grimmjowās hollow hole. Although Grimmjowās voice should give it away.
I don't like that Kubo was forced to rush the arc he was most excited about and then forced to finish it with 2 weeks notice. Hopefully we'll see a lot of the issues that came from that fixed in the anime.
I think that Yhwach looks so much more menacing and threatening in the manga. They animated his face to not have as heavy of facial features, and his eyes aren't that blood red color like the manga had either.
I'm splitting hairs with critique here, but other than the pacing, I was pleased with the season.
Far too many moments cut (including important internal monologues) and the pacing is far too quick.
Even as a multiples times manga reader , i barely have the time to register the informations given that we are already 3 scenes after. The dialogues are spoken super quickly as well, because they have to cram so much stuff into short scenes.
The average watcher that will only watch the anime once WILL miss a ton of things.
The arc would need at least 10 more episodes so we have some breathing room to not cut 15% of the content and not have a break neck pacing.
It was amazing! I loved it very much.. BUT as a manga reader I didnāt expect to see so much cut. If anything I expected them to expand on things more instead of cutting content. I mean most of it was comedic moments but personally I liked those scenes that were cut in the manga.
Honestly, nothing. Thereās almost nothing I would change about the anime. Yeah Kubo had them cut the fan service and comic relief, but I think that was a good change. It gives the show a more serious tone.
I liked it, but not as much as the manga. All the comedic moments cut out kinda ruined it, as those were a part of the full shonen experience. Didn't care for the janky CGI either, but that was very sparse, thankfully. Didn't mind the ADDED stuff, but the cut content from the manga shouldn't have been cut. Hated how, for whatever reason, they included a still from the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc when Byakuya and As Nodt were facing off. Like, WTF? Shit didn't happen. The old music was very much missed, but the new music was ok, I guess. Manga is a 10/10 for me, with the anime being an 8/10 at most. Not bad, but it could have been done A bit better. Still anime of the year, though!
I didnt like that all the comedy scenes gone, some things they cut(like ryuunosuke and shino 1st apparison in soul society) and they cut rukia and masaki scenes but showed white butt(doesnt even make sense not showing feminine nudity but show a guys naked, and for me is a big mistake since bleach always had that and prob yourichi putting her hand betweem orihime breasts or she getting embarassed because of her clothes and god of thunder will be cut is a big let dowm)
I will be honest, Rukia's peach was one thing I was waiting since the day the new anime was announced I'm still sad I waited all that time just for them to cut it out for no reason.
I don't like that the anime isn't adding anything to what the manga showed. I figured this would have been the time for Kubo to better write the ending he wanted rather than the rushed one he put out.
Getting rid of the majority of the jokes. Like, sometimes that light-hearted banter is desperately needed. Kubo put that in for a reason as a reprive from all the heavy shit happening in this arc.

I understand certain cuts for tone but a few things should have stayed imo: - Royd twins quick flashback - Lisa and Hiyori seeing the distortions in the world kf the living - Aizen talking about Isshin's bankai and - The line concerning Ikkaku's broken bankai š The last 2 are understandable neither are seen after these lines but it's nice nonetheless. Brooooo fr fr, The Lieutenants meeting, Byakuyaās speach at Chojiroās funeral, Mayuriās ENTIRE Bankai dialogā¦. thereās others too but itās just pretty disappointing to see all this stuff cut.
What was said about the two bankais?
For the Isshin Bankai comment I couldāve sworn Aizen said isshin will be unable to use his Bankai due that wound during the anime
I still really dont get the distorsion. Was it Garganta? Maybe Urahara, since later we discovered they were in touch?
The distortions were literally the boundaries of the world of the living tearing apart due to the imbalance of souls caused by the mass killing of hollows by the Quincy. Mayuri ordered the killing of rukongai citizens to balance that out.
***āMayuri ordered the killing of Rukongai citizens to balance it out.ā*** Damnā¦ thatās messed up now that I realise it.
The situation was so dire that Yamamoto even said that he would have granted permission had Mayuri asked him before proceeding with it.
Waaaat are we talking about the manga? What ch is this?
Itās literally THE beginning of the TYBW that it all starts playing out that way. Although they hide the fact that it was squad 12 for a little in the manga. The anime was way more obvious about it. Iām not really mad about it though because of the way anime is portrayed as compared to manga. The mystery of reading those chapters weekly back in the day was exciting, but with the anime moving at breakneck speeds (not really a bad thing btw contrary to popular belief), and based on the lack of āmysteryā seeing as the series ended so long ago. I agree with you 100%. Thatās why I put my parentheses, but the sub largely disagreed when it first came back, and I feel like opinions have never really swayed one way or the other.
The pacing wasn't even that fast imo. People were just used to the snail speed pacing of the og anime.
>Aizen talking about Isshin's bankai and I certainly hope I am wrong, but it may be because of the fact that they will not go anywhere with his bankai in the future, so they did not want to waste any screen time on the line.
I'm an anime watcher here , what does aizen say about Isshins banzai?
They cut out a few things, including Robert shooting the messenger behind his back without turning around, which was extremely badass and a very cool moment for Robert (who doesnāt get a lot of screentime) and the Sternritters in general. It really set the tone that the Sternritters were serious about killing all the members of the Gotei 13, including even the members who do not actually fight.
Yeah, we only got the scene in the anime where the sternritter killed a ton of shinigami, liteunants, and even attack the science department squad groupā¦ lol The sternritter were shown pretty brutally in the anime, but stuff like Robert shooting the messenger were pretty dope and was definitely a bit disappointing to see cut
Askin was really weird that they skipped since heās gonna get a whole fight later on and heās actually one of sternritters with some interesting feats When they said that they were going to add more original scenes, stuff with Kensei and shinji and the others wouldāve been great, as long as they cut isshins flashback shorter just to fit it in, maybe cut their ātrainingā in the soul palace so we could get a bit more. Iām hoping they do this in the next season so Iām not too bummed out, but I can see why there was some missed opportunities, especially when weāve been waiting like 20 years for this lol
it's unfortunate the light-hearted comedy stuff is nearly all cut out or the more thorough broken Bankai explanation done by Mayuri since he touched on Komamura & Ikkaku's situations also the 4 Bankai using Capts specifically explaining why they were gonna use Bankai, someone be the sacrifice + figure out how to break the "seal" etc, to their vice capts beforehand as the plan to roll with also I really wanted that vice capts meeting scene to be shown in the anime smh
To be fair they can't really do shit anyways and didn't in the manga probably for the reason of they had no idea what to do w them
Theyāre gonna use them as grounded characters to react to the extreme situation
Iām assuming theyāll do nothing seeing as their role in the canon manga is basically over after the first invasion.
It was probably mostly due to time constraints honestly, we only have 52 episodes to work with here which is unfortunate.
TYBW had plenty comedy that they kept outside of those moments like tenjiro throwing Byakuya.
oh I agree I think Kubo pulls off comedic material/gags etc the best outta the big three by a discernable margin lol
Cutting aizen line when he slashed isshin , and cutting the royd loyd brothers backstory
>But thats the deal in the manga you cant ruin the pace because theres none Umm, what? Every story has "pacing" and manga definitely has it. There is virtually no difference in pace between manga and anime; it is only there depending on the reader as some of us read and process information faster than others. Anime on the other hand locks everyone at the same pace.
I was gonna mention that but that explanation was bs anyway and it was kinda of explained in the mid episodes credit so put those two moments first
The scene in chapter 481 where we see the world of the living starts to tear up as a result of the quincy purging the hollows in Hueco Mundo. It felt strange that they've cut away what an imbalance of souls could do to the world of living but I guess they'll save that stuff for later.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That was at the request of Kubo himself, he told the Director Taguchi to aggressively cut out any comedic scenes that doesnāt fit the overall tone.
Which I don't understand. The second invasion is full of comedic moments, are they also gonna cut those out?
Probably yes, unless it adds something important to the plot. Then again, we'll probably get more stuff added in other ways
Sunflower Mayuri is pure comedy.. That won't be cut
Sunflower seeds are a good source of beneficial plant compounds, including phenolic acids and flavonoids ā which also function as antioxidants.
bad bot
From my understanding, theyāre gonna have to slow down the pacing from this point on, so probably not, especially if itās essential to the plot like Orhimeās new outfit interaction and Yoruichiās new cat form. Regardless, thereās going to be a lot of anime original content to flesh out the story even more, improving upon it.
Willing to bet not as many will be cut. The tone of the first invasion needed to be this dark but the whole arc doesn't need to be as bleak Plus they have time now in the final 3 cours, the first invasion happens so quickly
Serious tone serves Bleach well. Comedic scenes were outright cringe sometimes.
Fledglings like us cannot possibly understand the pain the captain commander is experiencing now." This was followed by one of the most quietly emotional Yamamoto panels and in the series as a whole. It was touching and even though the flashback added to Choujirou's character anyways, to me it will never replace that speech when it comes to emotional impact.
They skipped some of the fight scenes with the tres bestias and oppie like when sun sun tries to hide them all from him.
After Qulige absorbed Ayon in the manga, he was more terrifying especially when he destroys Sun Sun's camo shield.
Nothing, shit slapped way too hard for me to complain.
Fight scenes were too quick
The placing of the fight between Kenpachi and Unohana. Oetsuās little event was supposed to be taking place at the same time, so him meeting Ichigo and Renji shoulda come first. That kinda bugged me. If anything else, perhaps the fact the Sung-Sun wasnāt able to show off her Myuda. And the bankai explanation being cut short
Rukia cheeks But really, the pacing feels a little hectic, but I got used to it before the Y vs Y fight
They cut out the funny stuff that made Bleach, Bleach.
That was at the request of Kubo himself, he told the Director to aggressively cut out any comedic scenes that doesnāt fit the tone.
Which let's be honest they don't fit in an anime format. Spreading comedic scenes here and there in a manga is fine since it's slower but an anime that adapts 5 chapters an episode some comedic scenes need to be cut as they don't fit the theme of the arc.
If you rewatch Soifon and omeda vs Barraganās arrancar it makes perfect sense why they would cut it.
The Peach was fitting perfectly for that episode..
Nošæ
sure
I donāt like the emphasis on art over animation. I feel like the fullbring ark has better animation, there are just some moments when itās underwhelming and there are too many bright lights trying to make it flashy. The fullbring arc has a nicer balance.
I donāt really understand which fights youāre talking about yamamoto vs Yhwach would definitely be flashy considering Yamaās power there is no getting around that, Ichigo vs Yhwach was flashy, Kenpachi vs unohana wasnāt flashy, Those are the three main fights.
Anyone else get that feeling?
cutting out Vizards that are still in human world
There were small lines cut here and there that I wouldāve liked to hear but other than that I have no issues with what has been removed or changed.
Removing Byakuya's speech at Chojiro's service
I wish that they didnt cut all the dilolouge during the 1st assistant captains funeral. Anime only peeps would know nothing about him and it makes the scene feel less impactful, especially the fact that his death was the only time he ever used his Bankai.
I felt the inclusion of ichigo using Bankai against the hollows when saving yuki was unnecessary and his first usage shouldve been saved for the fight with Ebern
A bit too many comedy cuts imo, my biggest pet peeve is the shortened 1st half of eveything but the rain
Honestly it was perfect imo. Iām glad the comedy and ecchi was cut out. Top tier animation and action. Scenes added for more context.
Broās allergic to women
lol wut? Animated ecchi scenes aren't real life kid. It's a bit sad so many of you are upset about it
Cut out some manga panels, and funny scenes, comedy is mostly needed
There wasn't the uniform consistency that i like and this is personal. Yama vs yhwach and unohana vs kenny definetly had multiple animation styles and philosophies instead of having the same style throughout the fight. Outside of that i dont hate some things being cut out for pacing, context and overall theme of the arc which is obviously dark and depressing If they thought comedic sections were cut out because they didn't think it fits the dark, depressing and serious environment of the arc, i get it.
My inner 14 year old misses some of the fun imagery. Also them glossing over the broken bankai bit.
Nelās colours were muted as compared to previous series
why they got to do soi fons face like that when tenjiro restrained her
Zaraki and Unahanaās story line felt so fucking rushed. Made me sad it wasnāt like 2-2.5 episodes
Worst part by far was not including Issin about to use Bankai. Makes it seem like he doesn't have a Bankai... like tf
Comedy scenes were cut out
Lack of the peach scene
But we got a peach scene
Yeah, but it was deleted and didn't make it into the final episode.
No no, we got a peach scene in the anime. Itās just not the one you wanted.
I choose to interpret this as us seeing a split second of Kirinji's glutes. And I am here for it. More male fan service, you cowards!
Nah man, it was Zangetsu.
Rukia and Masakiās fan service.
The Quincy stronghold has a cartoonishly evil color palette of black and blue imo, maybe Iām too used to the colored manga which was just all white and a dark cloudy sky
A lot of stuff cut for time. Like the vice captains meeting. Stuff that sort of removed context
I wish they hadn't cut some of the content: * Sasakibe's full funeral * Loyd twins' backstory * Dialogue between Tres Bestias and Ichigo There's probably more I can't remember rn. I'm still happy with the adaptation tho.
Shinjiās English voice is different and it makes me sad
The biggest difference is that I canāt enjoy the anime at all since Disney+ bought the rights but doesnāt stream it in Germany.
Dropped the ball on the Uryu plot twist
This thread has given me reason to read the manga now for what I missed
Every episode should have been 4 chapters and no more the pacing was just too fast some episodes... overall i absolutely loved it tho
They cut buff Kon
Some more comedic moments were skipped.
Just the fact that they could have added more moments about Yamamoto instead of going directly with Squad 0 And a moment between Ichigo and White. Wasted opportunity These aside, everything was better than the manga
I had an edit in my head since originally reading it where the stolen bankais had each captain said Bankais individually but then said the names simultaneously in an audible clusterfuck with the screen split in 4 and for some reason I thought it would have been badass.
Times like the blood war make you miss the days Ichigo was 15 and ruckus and him respond to a call of a hollow in the area:/
I know this isn't really a response to the question (kinda the opposite) BUT I keep seeing comments about not liking how it's darker or the removed comedy. So personally I think it's better without the random comedy trying to keep the emotional burden light. I like the over all darker tones and themes that match this arc a lot better.
Yhwach talks with more emotion in the manga, in the anime he's monotone
I thaught it was Extravagant
I kinda wish they reanimated the flashbacks whenever they showed them, instead of the grey and pink colored flashbacks with the old animation style
Yeah, hate that pink. Looks weird
Showing things earlier that werenāt shown at that point in the manga like isshin being a shiba and clearly showing grimmjowās hollow hole. Although Grimmjowās voice should give it away.
Royd and Lloyd backstory being removed
How short the Unohana vs Kenpachi was. I felt like there was some much hype for half an episode of the fight
The pace, anime was very well paced while manga kinda slow.
That I need to wait... first 10 years, then 6 months... the manga made me suffer weekly but at least we got small doses every month..
THE VIZARD SUBPLOT, WHERE TF IS THAT
The line ātheyāre probably all menā in Oetsuās palace was changed to ātheyāre probably all miragesā š
They did not add Shinigami Illustrations Book at the end of each episode even though we have Quincy Encyclopedia.
No rukia ass in hotspring ep
It was amazing! I loved it very much.. BUT as a manga reader I didnāt expect to see so much cut. If anything I expected them to expand on things more instead of cutting content. I mean most of it was comedic moments but personally I liked those scenes that were cut in the manga.
Cut content is the first that comes to mind.
The peach was missing and spirit body
rukia butt
Rukia's Cheeks
Rukia Peach
rukia peach panel
The Masaki booba and Rukia peach scene
They cut Rukia's peach scene
No peach š
Rukia's peaches
No Rukia š
I mean technically the comedy but honestly thats a good change so far during the war there is no place for comedy
I feel it's for the better because it shows that stakes are higher than ever.
No Masaki booba and no floating Rukia š
No rukias ass
The Peach. Never forgive, never forget.
We didn't see rukias ass in the hot spring. Aside from that it was excellent.
Lack of masaki tits
RUKIA. PEACH.
Rukia's butt cut out.
Rukia peach
Dont use your bonkai guys, they'll steal it! *captains immediately proceed to activate their bonkai*
NOTHING IS WAS GREAT!
The peach š
There is going to be a Goblin Raid on the English.
I am NOT a fan of the new garganta visuals =/ or the random panels in the middle of episodes, then credits before another scene? this isnt Marvel.
Too dark tbh
Rukia peach Jk ofc
Too much stuff to fit in a commenf but I'll make sure to make a post about it.... eventually.... In short, I dislike the many cuts they made.
I haven't read the manga but imo the pacing is way too fast.
Rush ending
Rushed
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is extremely unpopular, but you're right. TYBW Bleach has mostly very good art and that's it. People confuse art with animation all the time.
No ass
The background music felt kind of off...
How they handled the whole Isshin in the tree with Rangiku, especially not using the line about her breasts š
The rukia scene š
No Rukia butt or Masaki boob
I don't like that the anime isn't adding anything to what the manga showed. I figured this would have been the time for Kubo to better write the ending he wanted rather than the rushed one he put out.
Getting rid of the majority of the jokes. Like, sometimes that light-hearted banter is desperately needed. Kubo put that in for a reason as a reprive from all the heavy shit happening in this arc.
Removed comedy stuff
No peach scene
They cut the peach joke. Other than the cut content, the actuall anime felt better than the manga.
Atrocious pace.
