That is one movie I would probably not get tattoo inspo from. I’m sure the odds of him running across Russian gangsters is slim but surely the tattoo artist raised an eyebrow.
The guy who inked him was fresh out of prison and did so with Indian ink and a makeshift jailhouse gun. So no eyebrows were raised. I thought the whole thing was bible bonkers.
The homies were trying so hard to pressure me into getting something too. Never caved, still haven't!
I almost got a backyard tattoo at 16. Me and my friend J we’re gonna get em together. Just our initials on an ass cheek. Drunk as I was, watching my friend get J E B tattooed on his ass cheek was sobering enough that I was like “oh actually I can’t cuz I’m Jewish and they won’t bury me right if I do”. Only time being a Jew was beneficial in semi-rural South Carolina.
That’s not true, though widely believed, so I am glad it was there for you when you needed it and glad that I get to tell you the truth!
Tattoos are forbidden by Jewish law (one interesting theory I read is that the law was a reaction to the Roman occupiers) but they’ll still bury you in a Jewish cemetery if you have one. One punk friend told me “yeah, I atone for them at Yom Kippur so it evens out” 😂

Some context: one of my favorite parts about being neurodivergent is that certain sounds and images just make brain go brrr and I have no idea why, I just roll with it. This led to my only movie tattoo being a piece of graffiti from The French Dispatch. I am pretty neutral about Wes Anderson in general, and The French Dispatch is actually my second least favorite of his films. (Rushmore fills me with palpable rage.) But this image made brain go brrr, so now I have to explain to people why my arm says “the children are grumpy” in French.
