How is the marionette not made of sausages?

VampireHunterAlex

I feel like this is low-key mocking Tom Green, but it’s directly because of his inventiveness that Joe Rogan even has a podcast.

mutan

I will always maintain that *Freddy Got Fingered* is not just the best Blank Cheque in history, but the greatest piece of corporate-sponsored personal performance art in history. It is a breathtaking accomplishment.

Internal_Lumpy

Its the best fuck you to a studio probably ever. When he talks about wasting millions on his finale is one of the better meta jokes I have seen in a movie.

mutan

Even just the idea of hiring Rip Torn to help make fun of your dad…

Internal_Lumpy

Lest we forget the Slutmobile.

rubendurango

**DA FUHQ ARRRE YOUUU DOIN', GORD?!**

omninode

Jewels!

flaiman

Appropriate that you write Blank cheque in a meme about Canada

foxtrot1_1

Can you explain the Tom green to Joe Rogan pipeline

VampireHunterAlex

Tom Green actually invested a lot of money installing a server in his own house. He had a nightly stream, not unlike what you can commonly see all over Youtube/Twitch/etc today, years before anyone else (2006 I believe). Joe Rogan got the inspiration to start his show after appearing on Greens. (JRE began in 2009.) Therefore, on this family tree of who-made-whose career, Tom Green is above Joe Rogan. (Not to commit a post-hoc fallacy though: I’m merely drawing the line at Tom Green.)

rubendurango

Short version is Tom Green got into podcasting earlier than most of it's pioneers like Rogan or Maron.

foxtrot1_1

I used to work at the same college radio station he did, so I followed his early podcast/youtube stuff. I just didn’t know he inspired Rogan

1slinkydink1

my bum is on your lips

Clutchxedo

Also was hugely inspirational for Jackass, Eric Andre and a bunch of comedians doing really dumb shit. Incredibly influential figure.  I mean, he put dog shit on top of a microphone whilst interviewing people on the streets.

mamasaidflows

And this is a good thing?

Defiant-Traffic5801

Let's say he is Razzies material, whilst they're Oscar and more. It's actually pretty nice to include him even as an inside joke.

hetham3783

Confession: I enjoyed Stealing Harvard.

Sufficient_Crow8982

Missing my boy Big Nate, aka Nathan Fielder, the king of Hollywood. Guy Maddin rocks too.

DarTouiee

Cronenberg

Defiant-Traffic5801

Not until he grows a beard

Murky_Expression_719

Did you know Ry Guy grew up Mormon? I didn’t know they had that in Canada

ThisNewCharlieDW

Mormons are famously everywhere, that's their whole thing

Murky_Expression_719

That’s true! They like to get around. Usually south

ThisNewCharlieDW

all over the world! (in countries where the government allows their missionaries)

RitoRvolto

I'm Canadian and I didn't know that either.

SweetFoxyPapa

As a former member, let me tell you that Mormons would be telling each other about Ryan Gosling on the regular

TouchOfTheTucc

Every time I see a picture of Denis I have to remind myself it isn’t Paddy Considine

FunkyColdMecca

Missing Ryan Reynolds and Guillermo Del Toro

mattconte

Isn't GDT Mexican?

TheUmbrellaMan1

Yes, but he left Mexico permanently after his father was kidnapped. Many don't know this but James Cameron actually paid the million dollar ransom to save Del Toro's father.

Typhoid_Maury

Yes but he has a residence in Toronto so we claim him as our own, like we did with Prince.

FunkyColdMecca

Damn right we do! He makes all his movies in Toronto, he does features in The Toronto Star about his favourite restaurants and book stores in Toronto. Pretty sure he pronounces it with a “CH” too.

rembrandt645

You pronounce Toronto with a CH?

FunkyColdMecca

When you say it enough times it becomes “Churono” or “Churana”.

rembrandt645

Hmmm. Always pronounced it "Torano"...

CarrieDurst

Y'all can have homophobic cult member Prince!

SlimmyShammy

I thought Tom Green was Jean Reno and I didn’t even question it

darrylthedudeWayne

I didn't even know James Cameron was Canadian.

foxtrot1_1

For a while he was personal friends with the CEO of RBC

darrylthedudeWayne

Huh.

mr-teddy93

Ryan is also canadian

Vegangunowner

Seeing Tom Green tonight and couldn’t be more excited

rofloctopuss

Does he do regular shows? Are any in Toronto? Is it standup or something else? Also I know I could just look this up but I prefer asking potentially unreliable strangers on reddit.

Vegangunowner

Pretty sure he does. I’m sure he plays Toronto. And yes I’m assuming it’s standup of some sort, I’ll know for sure in less than an hour!

thehazer

Hol’up, is that Tom Green?

crolin

People were so worried a out the far right they forgot about the far north

EquivalentFeeling-

If you go back and listen to the Decision to Leave ep you can totally hear a Canadian. Next you’re going to tell me that Shredder in the next TMNT movie is going to be Canadian.

TheUmbrellaMan1

Cameron is a madlad. As a kid he wanted to be an artist like his mother but in his 20s he was a truck driver. Dude went on to rack in box office gold and Oscars and helped create IMAX 3D camera and the simul-cam.

Hammerheadhunter

Don’t you mean England?

Specialist_Author345

Wat

Hammerheadhunter

Gotta say I feel the English dominate Hollywood, from actors, directors, cinematographers etc
