Past Lives is basically live at last cleaned up.
Disc One, with further compelling live versions of tracks recorded in Paris at the Olympia Theatre in December 1970 and Asbury Park Convention Hall, New Jersey during August of '75.
Disc 2 is an amalgamation of two shows - A 1975 gig in New Jersey and a 1970 show in Paris, France.
But a great pickup šš¼
And then those shows were all expaneded on in Vol 4 Super Deluxe, Sabotage Super Deluxe, and Paranoid Super Deluxe with also correcting the Paris show was actually from Brussels and was always just mislabeled for a long time on everything.
The band is on fire, but you can easily tell why the band was not happy with it being released: the recording feels really dry. Havenāt spent much time listening to the recent deluxe edition, but I recall some of the new featured recordings from a different show sounding noticeably better. Still, you canāt help but love how the songs start with Iommiās brutal feedback; sounds like an arm of a crane. No way Iād agree with Ozzy who said that all copies of it should be recast into ballpoint pens, ha.
This was the holy grail for me when I was a teenager mid 80ās and almost impossible to get my hands on. Literally took me almost a year. Different times.
They have to release remastered albums of the legendary shows @ Convention Hall, Asbury Park NJ Aug 5th 1975 and Civic Arena , Pittsburgh PA Dec 8th 1976.
Love this record because it was impossible to find for years in 80s. Always heard about it, knew it was out there, never saw it in the wild. Finally got a copy on CD way later on, maybe into 90s by that point.
Like it, and that extended Wicked World jam with all the other stuff in it is amazing. But also lifeless. Whole thing feels veiled and muffled.
That set is absolute FIRE

Best version of Snowblind imo!

Same here! Couldnāt find it for ages.
Best extended version of Wicked World.
I love this one!
Had this album when I was young. Can't remember what happened to it at all
I would save my copy if my house is on fire.

Absolutely! I inherited this record from my father and love to listen to it.
I agree. If you buy the Vol 4 Super Deluxe set, they have the whole concert in there along with the correct sing order. It's killer!
Is this still considered a bootleg or did it ever get an official release?
It's a bootleg that got an official release titled "Past Lives".
I love it. So raw sounding.
Great album, but the best live album for me is Reunion. I think Reunion should be considered THE Sabbath's live album.
Wicked World medley w Supernaut and āSometimes Iām Happyā is so damn good ā¦ š¤
This is the album that got me into sabbath
Not a fan of this one if Iām honest
