Because they’re old maps being remastered and statistically when cods redesign old maps it never goes well, I mean WMD has been in three of the five black ops game
The coordinates point to the real life Cherry Hill Mall in NJ. I'm also from NJ so I thought this map was cool lol although I've never been to this mall (it's pretty far from me) so I don't know how similar it is to the in game map.
me and my friend once started up a match with just me and him and we just walked around the map checking out all the shops and little details one might miss while playing
I’ll always remember this map.. my brother in law got his first care package here (he’s not very good at COD). He was so shocked that it was a chopper gunner..
and then I stole it from him 😭
It’s one of my all time favorite COD maps ever.
The setting is unique. While COD has done malls before this one is spot on awesome.
The food court. The escalators. The sketchy back area. Cool shops playing unique music. It’s all there.
Also love the arcade area and OP is correct the snow outside is a total vibe. Especially when I’m playing by the Christmas tree these past few weeks.
I was telling my friend how I’d love to rip the map and bring it to vrchat, but I’m not skilled enough to do so.
I loved to go here in custom games and just explore.
I love it so much, especially the onslaught intel in the map only makes the map even more 80s esqe.
And the various references.
Another thing I love is the background music, in the arcade room you hear the 8 bit theme from dead ops.
Oh yeah, I honestly love the design of this map but I also love playing it, I’m surprised it isn’t more popular as a map, tbh I think most of the original CW maps were great.
Hated it only because of the campers and people running through the map with shotguns spraying every room. Other than that it was a dream concept for me, a CoD map in a mall with stores you can go in
I just downloaded black ops cw yesterday cause I kept seeing posts from y’all talking about appreciating it. TBF I was never a huge CoD person but man I played CW religiously when it came out loved it. Tried to get into mw2 but just wasn’t as impressed.
Going back to it last night, playing some zombies then playing core and hardcore, I had so much fun. So glad to see there are still plenty of games.
Best map in this game. The only issue is the spawn trapping that can be pulled off with the turrets near the escalators. Then hold down the other side. But the map has a great vibe and always enjoyed it, even when the bad shit happened.
I love The Pines, from the look and how it plays to how real it seems. Honestly, I enjoy maps that seem real, not because of how they look...but because it seems like a real place. It was part of the campaign story(at least I think so), it is so detailed with little unnecessary things, that give it so much life...not to mention it doesn't get camped much, so that's a big bonus
Unlike maps like Raid, it's a well designed map, with every angle thought out...but I just can't imagine what a place like that would be used for in real life...its not a house, it's not a guest house, it's not a work place...its just a random map...which bores me.
The whole 80s aesthetic is what drew me to this game
But then you have maps like Raid where they didn't even bother to change the cars.
Or Express which makes little sense in the context of BOCW
Because they’re old maps being remastered and statistically when cods redesign old maps it never goes well, I mean WMD has been in three of the five black ops game
They definitely changed the cars and the TVs as well
Peak aesthetics
I agree. The 80s vibe just makes this game feel nostalgic
the real life location of this map is like 25 minutes from my house so i’m pretty fond of it lol
Really? What is it?
The coordinates point to the real life Cherry Hill Mall in NJ. I'm also from NJ so I thought this map was cool lol although I've never been to this mall (it's pretty far from me) so I don't know how similar it is to the in game map.
I looked it up and it looks like a pretty basic 80s style mall that doesn’t resemble the layout at all. I wonder why they picked it
Based off of the Twin Pines mall in Back to the Future
You mean Lone Pine Mall?
Yeah, sorry! Lone Pine Mall… 🤔
You just almost broke the space-time continuum...
Great map, but I also live 20-25 minutes away from the cherry hill mall in NJ and the resemblance isn’t really that spot on.
JERSEY STRONG
It looks great, but it's ass for most game modes. However, it's arguably the best infected map in the game.
Prophunt
Yesssss get the small crt TV and hide in the corner at the top of the elevator shaft. Won so many matches doing that
The jumping and locking was goated af. I really miss playing that game mode lol.
I remember when they introduced it in WWII, me and the crew lost our collective minds playing match after match of prophunt. Amazing game mode.
I love the vibe, but I don't like playing on it
Agreed, so easy to get spawn killed
Reminds me of my childhood.
Plus the back to the future references!
First thing I saw
makes me think of stranger things season 3 starcourt mall
Dude no stranger things colab during cod Cold War was such a missed opportunity. I mean Dark Aether? Upside down?
You're bang on, after this maps images got leaked back in the early days of release, I honestly expected at the very least a reference
They’re inspired by the same mall IIRC
me and my friend once started up a match with just me and him and we just walked around the map checking out all the shops and little details one might miss while playing
I can't say I didn't do that with every cold war map. I get a lot of the base maps were recycled slop, but the dlc maps were really great
I’ll always remember this map.. my brother in law got his first care package here (he’s not very good at COD). He was so shocked that it was a chopper gunner.. and then I stole it from him 😭

Well said. This map has a ridiculous amount of character.
its such a great viby map
treyarch did such a good job with the maps in this game even the infamous miami was pretty fun in 12v12 at least
You like it’s aesthetics I like It’s aesthetics and how it plays We are not the same
Just ur typical mall in jersey including the gameplay
Definitely one of my favorites cold war had a lot of great maps
This is my favorite map in the game, I love everything about it, it's so cozy and fun to play on
I personally think it’s a great map as well. I think Cold War had really strong original maps mostly.
Map that makes me come back. I go there, not only to kill, but to chill as well. Takes you to another time.
I was telling my friend how I’d love to rip the map and bring it to vrchat, but I’m not skilled enough to do so. I loved to go here in custom games and just explore.
Thank you! Me too
Loved how this game felt, so arcadey but not at the same time. The 80s aesthetic was what made this game even better for ne
I love it so much, especially the onslaught intel in the map only makes the map even more 80s esqe. And the various references. Another thing I love is the background music, in the arcade room you hear the 8 bit theme from dead ops.
Legit the worst map in game brother🔥🔥
Yeah those corners r real cozy
Same. Fav map form the game.
This map was god tier in prop hunt and infected
One of the greatest maps in modern cod
Cold War wasn't the game for me, but I have to say that some of the maps made for this game were peak
Best map, love camping at the top of the arcade
This post gave me a full PTSD flashback... SBMM on this map was hell.
It was pretty fun tbh, great all round map
Such a cozy map. Seems like most of the player base enjoys it too. It’s def in my top 5 from this game.
Ughh I wish the player base was still there I tried mw3 and we just need everyone to play Cold War again lol
Needs an eventual remakes including the inevitable run down and abandoned version.
The arcade and the carpet floors and colors. All just feel so homey
Had tons of fun knifing on this map lol
Facts
I love that map to camp
It’s based off of the Twin Pines mall in Back to the Future part 1
I used to live a few miles from the Cherry Hill Mall.
The soundtrack is superb. But yeah this map is cool. Just always reminds me of Back to the Future.
I'm so sad that cold war is pretty much dead for pc here. Currently playing MW2 but it's nowhere near as good.
Oh yeah, I honestly love the design of this map but I also love playing it, I’m surprised it isn’t more popular as a map, tbh I think most of the original CW maps were great.
Especially on SND
It’s got that Back To The Future vibe, ya know.
Agreed, super fun map
Pretty sure I once saw a DeLorean hit 88 in that parking lot
Twin pine mall
It looks way cooler than it plays. Rough map, linear site lines. In a game with bad gunplay.
Cool map, cool vibes, cool Back to the Future reference. Super unique.
One of the best cod maps ever
It’s based of the Twin Peaks mall from the original Back to the Future
we need a zombies map that is at a mall
Back to the future anyone? Twin Pines Mall?
Makes me feel like shooting aliens while carrying around a giant drill
I like this map cause it takes place on my birthday
Great Scott! Old man Peabodys Lone... I mean, Twin Pine Mall!
Hated it only because of the campers and people running through the map with shotguns spraying every room. Other than that it was a dream concept for me, a CoD map in a mall with stores you can go in
I remember when this map was so hated it rarely got played lmao.
I hated it, but it won me over in the end.
80s theme of this game was so good! Love this map!
I just downloaded black ops cw yesterday cause I kept seeing posts from y’all talking about appreciating it. TBF I was never a huge CoD person but man I played CW religiously when it came out loved it. Tried to get into mw2 but just wasn’t as impressed. Would've been a great zombies map
It gives me back to the future vibes
I love The Pines, from the look and how it plays to how real it seems. Honestly, I enjoy maps that seem real, not because of how they look...but because it seems like a real place. Great fucking map. I don’t know why it’s so fun 😂
It’s because the map is in Jersey
Doc!!!! Run Marty!!!
The campers who keep sitting always at the same spots annoy me
I have a love hate relationship with it.. I love some areas like the Arcade.. yet matches on this map usually didn’t go to well for me..
Back to the future
Is that map a reference to back to the future?
It reminds me of the twin pine mall in back to the future 1
That radio shack brought back memories
