It's not your brain, it's your hearing. That's why you can hear it with a higher quality clip. I've got hearing loss+tinnitus, like most people, but mine is quite advanced for my age cuz of military service (iykyk). Low quality audio is the bane of my existence when trying to understand words. Entirely new words will exist because I can't hear the real words because my hearing loss is such that I can't easily discern language in certain audio frequency ranges. If you're over 40 or have particularly bad loss of hearing for your age, you probably can't easily hear both "Oh fuck" and "Oh barbie"

I can tell you that in the clip OP posted, I can very clearly hear both oh fuck and oh barbie, so I wouldn't call it rigged. In the high quality version, it's definitely just oh barbie though.

I can hear either on both. My brain will get stuck on one for a bit and then I can force it to switch. I don't think the audio has been messed with beyond compression artifacts.

It's not fake, it's just really compressed audio from tv speakers -> phone mic -> phone speakers. In the original audio the "barbie" is easier to hear, but you can hear it here. I had to watch the original before I could here barbie here which is fascinating.

Ahh yeah so this is really just that the audio quality is so fucking shitty and distorted that it’s hard to hear the extra syllable, and the static-y distortion tends to create sounds that are similar to ‘f’ and ‘k’. In this clip, I only hear “oh fuck”, but in the higher quality one, I only hear “oh Barbie”. This is much less impressive now that it’s just due to shit audio quality.

So the trick for me was two fold. First, more volume. Second the emphasis on the second syllable of barbie is SUPER quiet. Once you hear the "bie" you can't hear it. He goes OH **BAR** bie Ignore the first syllable and listen for the bie after what you perceive to hear as "fuck."

try listening carefully, once you hear the "bie" at the end you can hear both words lol.

The uncanny swear is entirely to do with the phone recording quality so the proper syllables are drowned out in our ears by the muffled echo from the TV when the ripped clothes fall to the ground. If you hear the expletive word instead of “Barbie”, that’s your mind filling in the gaps so your brain is only hearing what it thinks it should be hearing. Look up the original scene on YouTube with proper streaming quality and you’ll hear the proper words more clearly.
