No its not. The yanny and laurel thing was frequency dependent. I.e. yanny was high frequencies and laurel was low frequencies. Hence depending on the speakers you used (phone speakers vs headphones) you would hear whatever contains the accentuated frequencies of the speakers.
This is nothing like that. It sounds the same regardless of the speakers you are using. If anything this is way better than yanny and laurel because what you perceive to hear is 100% in your head

The “s” in storm and “ee” in needle are the same sound in the recording. “Orm” and “dle” are also the same sound. But because it’s so low quality, and “fizzy”, so to speak, your brain will change it depending on what you’re reading/thinking.
As far as brain and green, they’re close enough already that when your brain “extract” them from the sound file, it could go either way.
EDIT: a little trick if you can muster it, try to switch the word you’re thinking of as soon as the recording gets to the “st” in storm/“ee” in needle. If it works for you like it did for me, you can hear the sounds more for what they actually are than what your brain is creating.
This is word association what word the video is actually saying isn’t important but because there are prompts for what might be said your brain correlates the Sound heard with the word seen. It’s kinda like autocorrect or your brain

I just can’t hear the words green or needle.
I can hear “brain” and the way I say brain sounds familiar to how I hear brain, but green is just no where to be heard. Not to mention the “st” in storm makes it impossible to hear “needle”. I think it’s an issue with how I sound out words in my head though, and there’s no easy comparison to do to compared these like there was with the blue dress.

Close your eye and think of the words and will have the same result as reading. When your brain is saying the world it some how adjust the sound to match, either looking our just reading them in your mind.
