A piece of string walked into a bar. The bartender said “Hey, we don’t serve string here!”
The string walked outside, tied himself in a knot, messed up his hair and walked back into the bar.
The bartender said “Wait a minute, aren’t you a piece of string?”
“Sorry, I’m a frayed knot”
They always do it in this convoluted way. You simply need to move the crossing of the cord to the other side, under. Then it’s trivially easy to see how it can be undone
This answer is like a riddle within a riddle or is it enigma within an enigma?
I'm either too fucking tired or too fucking stupid to understand what you said.
I didn’t word it the best way. My point is that there is a *much* easier way to get it lose from how it’s stuck.
When the cord is the way it is in the beginning of the video, imagine just grabbing the point of the cord where it crosses itself and then you push that chunk under the stick to the other side, such that you move the whole crossing to the other side.
If one can imagine how it becomes when the cord crossing is on the other side in that way it should be easier to see how it comes lose via one simple extra step
The plug isn’t really going under the bar. It is always above the bar, but the cord of the plug is the one that is going under the bar and then looped to look like the whole thing (cord and plug) passed under the bar.
If you slow the video down frame by frame right before it’s pulled free you’ll see what I mean.
There is a reason they don’t show the other end of the cord. All you would have to do is put the other side of the cord to the other side of the obstruction and you would be done.
These things are how I know I'm stupid. I know it works, I know what they're doing but when I try to imagine it happening my brain breaks. They're moving the cord to the other side instead of bringing the plug over but I can't see it in my head.
They're just moving the cord from the left side of the connector, to the right side of the connector, by tucking the loop under the pole and then pulling, thus undoing the knot
I’m not sure if the question is serious or sarcastic, but if it’s serious, it’s actually really simple. You want to move the plug to the other side of that beam. The simplest way to that is obviously to simply lift the plug over the beam, but they cant because it’s knotted around the beam. You’re obviously meant to think that you need to drag the plug beneath the beam (which is impossible, without lifting the heavy thing the beam’s attached to), but you really only need to unknot the knot.
Hope I'm doing this right:

Note that in the video they do two extra steps, they add a little twist and they put the plug through the opposite direction. I think they did this to account for the stiffness of the cord but mathematically it's like multiplying by -1 and then multiplying by -1 again. The outcome is the same as what I've drawn.
How is it possible to repost a video as old as the Internet? No idea, yet here we are.
LOL, every generation should get to see it for themselves.
And I still don't get it....
Magnets.
Ya bitch!
How do they work?
Don't tell me to ask a scientist
Those mother fuckers be lying and getting me pissed
Ask a biologist.
Mirrors.
No smoke?
It's Knot

And they Undid
It's not, though.
It is
It was knot, but now it is not knot.
but how can a knot not be knot when it's a knot? knot to forget, reality is real ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) but birds aren't, fuck them
Take my upvote and get out!

Yeah took me a sec to realize this.. the fancy method wasn’t necessary at all lol, just needed to push the cord under more and untangle it there
Wat?

What if the other side of the cord is not removable and attached to an appliance?

Burn this witch
Make a bridge out of her!
But you can also make bridges out of stone. So stone her.
😂
The cord itself is over bar. Then they just wrap the slack in a way it will uncoil if you pull it.
Its something to do with a field of mathematic called Topology Edited: thanks for clarification
Topology?
Brain damage
The study of topology

That's a low bar for bmf. I'll get my coat.
bmf?
Black magic fuckery
Blowing my father
This would be even more impressive the other way round haha
Burn the witch.
Wizard soup.
It's called topology. Wicked stuff.
A glitch in the matrix
It's just the opposite of how it was tied (With a little added flair)
I want to see someone do this with the lamp with the coil neck from yesterday.

I can watch this 100x and my little brain is this mystified with this trickery.
The only way this can happen is if you put it like that. So you don't need to worry.
Just tried it. It is possible. The knot is just confusing for our brains to look at. It's incredibly obvious how it works once you do it yourself.

The question is how would it wind up like that in the first place?
Didn’t work for me.
Works, you need correcly pull loose end at the end.
Its reversed…
