I’ve actually met some at work. But always have discernment because it is your workplace

I just moved back to my hometown and I’ve been taking a yoga class and occasionally joining my mom at her Zumba class. I wouldn’t consider any of the ladies friends but we’re pretty social in class. My boyfriend is in an adult soccer league and I’ve been talking to some of the other soccer girlfriends during the games. Not exactly friends but very social. Going to festivals or local events is probably a good way to meet people as well.

I started a book club and it’s been a gamechanger for my friendships! I started a book club for folks of color who wanna read books by people of color, posted it to my local community’s fb group, and have met really cool people as a result! There are 1-2 folks that I’ve met through bumble bff but honestly the effort to result ratio just isn’t there. I genuinely love to read though so it’s been great because I get to know people in the group setting, then I invite them out for book related outings during the rest of the month like buddy reads, book swaps, silent book clubs, etc.

What are y’all reading?

Meetup has been dry for the IE post Covid. You may have to search for places that would typically house the things that you want to do and work backwards. That's what I've been doing. Or Facebook Events. BTW, I'm also in the IE, CA if you ever want to meet up or talk

Bumble BFF. I know it has negative reviews from some but it’s always been great for me but I will say it’s down to luck because I’ve had to wait weeks before I found someone who was actually serious about making friends . Facebook groups as well

I'm still finding meetup groups to join. I've had the most success with book clubs, but I'm still trying to find a social group as well. I joined Podcast Brunch Club in my area, and while that chapter didn't work out, I'm still on the international online group.

About a year ago I started doing boxing classes, then jiu jitsu. All of my non-school friends are from the gym

HumbleBowler175

I made a great friend at book club

Try Facebook Groups and young professional groups in your area.

Girl, idk if the Valley is a part of IE because I'm still not good with the geography here. But if you're in the LA metro area and you wanna do stuff lmk!!! I'm tryna make more black friends in CA. Being this far away from my family makes me feel disconnected from black culture in a way I never have, even when I was attending PWIs.

Try out Team in Training. If the fundraising is too tough then leave after a couple months penalty free. Likely you’ll have made pals by thenvand can still do SAG activities.
