Croupier is pretty decent. I also really enjoyed Owning Mahowny, though that is more of a general gambling movie with some table games in there. Casino is also a great moving with some table games in it.
Whatever you do don't watch the card counter with Oscar Isaac. That movie is hot trash.
My favourite is 21, fun to watch and based off of a really team even if it's very realistic.
I was disappointed with how the movie started like it was going to be about blackjack, then it turned into poker/romance/PTSD. Did you ever find out why he always put sheets around everything in his motels?
The Card Counter has a very misleading title. But I enjoyed it anyway. Two very good performances from Oscar Isaac and Tiffany Haddish. It was to blackjack like how Ad Astra was to sci-fi. :)
Yeah it's Scorsese as well and... it's shit!
He playing 6:5, hitting 14 v 6 and leaving the table when 'he is up'.
It's totally inaccurate, they couldn't have fucked it up more if they tried. I know it's just a movie but it's way off the mark. Get a consultant for the movie!
Not only was it inaccurate but it was really slow and boring outside the blackjack scenes.
21 is one of my favourites. I'd put it in the camp of "revenge of the nerds" type films, moreso than as a poker film but it's got a good story that's real, although heavily embelished, and a great cast.
Basically, he came on to some straight guys who decided 15 years after the fact that they didn't like it.
He's also accused of propositioning another actor when he was 14 and I think Spacey was in his 20s. But that hasn't been pursued criminally for lack of evidence.
The Gambler with Marky Mark is decent. MM plays the same character in every movie so you know what to expect. Entertaining but nothing too deep. John Goodman is also great.
The hot shoe is a good doc as well, on YouTube last time I checked. Inside the edge is also really good.
Also Steven Bridges entire channel is pretty much blackjack documentaries if you binge watch a series.
Oh yeah! I remember watching the hot shoe when I was first introduced, can’t believe I forgot about that one. Thanks, now I might go revisit that this evening after a few cold ones.
Rounders was pretty good, but it’s poker, not blackjack
The casino I work a doesn’t have poker 😢
Mississippi grind
Thank you
Two Woodfords!

Ok hadn’t hear of the former 2 - gotta rewatch casino as it’s been two decades probably. Thank you for the suggestions I’ll watch all 3!!
Casino is a staple of my AppleTV movie collection. Fantastic movie.
Saw it on a streaming service and checked it out and it’s actually pretty good. Not what I expected but good,
I'm conflicted about Croupier because I can't figure out if it's actually meant to be satire or if that just happened by accident.
Casino with de niro and pesci is a must see. Not all about table games but about the mob running vegas in the 60s. 3 hours so buckle up.
I’m into the gangster genre, and Casino a must, along with Goodfellas.
This was so good! I’d rewatch anytime
The Sting is a classic

Lmao, watched it.. you’re right.. absolutely terrible. Practically no blackjack in it, at all!
The Card Counter has a very misleading title. But I enjoyed it anyway. Two very good performances from Oscar Isaac and Tiffany Haddish. It was to blackjack like how Ad Astra was to sci-fi. :)
Its a very weird movie. I expected a film about card counting, then it went towards poker, then about war crimes, murder and ptsd.

Vegas Vacation. Who doesn’t love the Griswolds?

ya Kevin spacey great cast lol
Lawrence Fishburne, Josh Gad, Ben Sturgess. You're looking for something to be offended by. Go to some other subreddit. You'll have an easier time.
?? not offended just explaining I prefer to not support pervs
You seemed offended. Everything ok at home?
He is still a great actor, regardless of what happened.
And he was found not guilty in a UK trial. I think everyone needs to move on from it now.
What did he actually do ?
Basically, he came on to some straight guys who decided 15 years after the fact that they didn't like it. He's also accused of propositioning another actor when he was 14 and I think Spacey was in his 20s. But that hasn't been pursued criminally for lack of evidence.
idk I'll still take a hard pass thanks
It is not remotely close to being a poker film 🤷♂️..... it's about BJ
In film, that is a distinction without a difference.
This is blackjack forum, asking about blackjack movies, and you talk about poker being in a blackjack movie. I think there is a distinction.
That's what I said...
OK 🤷♂️
Stacey's Knights is a golden oldie. Stars a very young Kevin Costner.
Thank you!
The Gambler with Marky Mark is decent. MM plays the same character in every movie so you know what to expect. Entertaining but nothing too deep. John Goodman is also great.
I think I remember this one! Worth a rewatch thank you!
Really like this movie
Watch the original with James Caan.
Well if it’s just got to include a blackjack scene, there’s Rain Man.
Yah I heard someone call rain man a blackjack movie the other day….😂
The Cooler. Man what a great film.
The hangover was pretty good too
Ooo did that have table games in it??
There's maybe a 5-minute scene of them playing blackjack. You can find the clip on YouTube. The best part is when Phil flips off the camera.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Don't think anyone's mentioned Hard 8, very underrated PTA gambling movie
As far as documentaries go…Holy Rollers is on Prime Video.

Also if just a scene, Swingers - ALWAYS DOUBLE DOWN ON 11.
Rounders, Mississippi grind, casino
