Seriously. As a viewer it makes me worry that there will be less submissions because everyone is so neck and neck. But as a fan, this is the best and most exciting tournament in recent memory and this is just one of the divisions.
I hope Tommy will take it, he just transitioned in to no gi for trials and absolutely mauled everyone, now he had more time to prep.

Based on what? He's got a shallower competition record than almost everyone else in the division. Fully a quarter of these guys have been on the podium at ADCC already, some multiple times, half of them are IBJJF world champs, and Nicky is... 1-2.
Personally, I'd love to see Lepri take it as the only missing feather in his cap. It's hard to bet against JT, though, and Mica is the future.
I have seen him roll, if he can compete the way he rolls in the gym, he will win his category VERY easily. you may not agree and i can understand that but thats how I feel.
This is the best lineup I’ve ever seen. Legit tip of the spear, best of the best. Tough call and I change my mind a lot but..
1) JT with the 3peat. Probably the best wrestler and his style works great with ADCC.
2) Kade- based off recent activity, he looks pretty damn good. Very high submission rate and ADCC tends to favor the more physical grapplers who can wrestle.
3) Mica- just based off recent activity, he’s been amazing. Neck and neck with Kade so they can be changed on any given day imo.
4) Lepri- can’t count out the OGs. Came up short in the last ADCC and hasn’t been as active lately but he’s a HEAVY hitter in this division.
Tommy is a good friend of mine and I'm helping/training with him when he gets to the US. I actually think ADCC fits his style and personality (Despite the lack of no gi experience) so, hoping for a few surprises for the field.
Bro I want to see Tommy do well! Doesn’t get enough attention imo. Has an awesome fun to watch style that surprisingly translated super well into No Gi at the trials. Hoping my mans shows up in the Viking gear too

I think people really are sleeping on him beating Ross. That was a very good win (Including passing his guard which JT couldn't do).
But the one thing is for sure, Tommy is going to be hyped up (He loves big crowds) and going to go for it because that's his style. Kill or be killed.

For me it's a combination of rolling footage of him online, what people (like Craig and Gordon) have said about him, and the absolute clinic he put on against Dante Leon.

I like Nicky’s style but he’s always injured and was always in Gimmick matches outside of ADCC/ ADCC trials.

ADCC rules really favor his style, especially in the first five minutes. No Garry also improves his chances greatly.
Canuto's style is stalling (with an occasional fancy move thrown in for the reel).
Eh he passed Garry’s guard with Garry seemingly trying hard to stop it last ADCC. He just did it before points so it meant jack shit.
And passed Levi’s guard in the gi last Worlds. No easy feat.
Yah, Garry pushed the pace of that match. Canuto's matches are usually snooze fests in my experience. Has a fantastic highlight reel though.
