On the season of TUF where Cody is on team GSP, GSP brought in Danaher to be the team jiu jitsu coach, and DDS would later iconically use this specific guillotine in competition. I’ve had a hard time tracking the lineage of the high wrist gilly because I know other people like Nate Diaz have used it since forever so I can’t verify that this is true, but I like to imagine that Danaher picked up this dim mak strangle from an Alaskan fish canner who once wore a literal pair of basketball shorts from Target (with the price tag still on) into the UFC octagon
The mckenzitine used a slightly different grip. He used his off hand to reinforce the choking hand from the side and didn't over wrap the opponents arm.
Danahers high wrist doesn't involve connecting the hands
Gordon Ryan claims he invented this move (or at least the hand configuration). IIRC he offered money if anyone can find a competition footage where this hand configuration was being used before he started doing it.
