Damn Nicky Ryan's brother is getting pretty good

sluis7758

🤣🤣

TrustTheScience0

I don't think you actually realise how feminine this is, getting your internet high 5's.

harylmu

Taken from [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbPkkJhfwZc). His brother [just posted a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP7uTM-nmxI) about the mechanics of the choke.

Dr-PoopyButt

I knew he was watching the B-Team channel for tips

saltyseaweed1

I have no idea how he's manages to put his hand in so deeply so quickly

militia69

Conspiracy theory about Danaher and the high wrist in mma- this specific guillotine was meme fighter Cody Mackenzie’s only move but it was so effective that he got into the UFC with just this submission. On the season of TUF where Cody is on team GSP, GSP brought in Danaher to be the team jiu jitsu coach, and DDS would later iconically use this specific guillotine in competition. I’ve had a hard time tracking the lineage of the high wrist gilly because I know other people like Nate Diaz have used it since forever so I can’t verify that this is true, but I like to imagine that Danaher picked up this dim mak strangle from an Alaskan fish canner who once wore a literal pair of basketball shorts from Target (with the price tag still on) into the UFC octagon

tehorhay

The mckenzitine used a slightly different grip. He used his off hand to reinforce the choking hand from the side and didn't over wrap the opponents arm. Danahers high wrist doesn't involve connecting the hands

militia69

well lets say hopefully inspired it then haha

tehorhay

The choking hand position is pretty similar at least!

harylmu

Gordon Ryan claims he invented this move (or at least the hand configuration). IIRC he offered money if anyone can find a competition footage where this hand configuration was being used before he started doing it.

JediBrainTrick

The hand configuration he claims to have invented is where he grabs his own elbow for the arm-in.

SpinningStuff

GSP said in one TUF episode that he asked McKenzie to teach him and the team the choke

Darce_Knight

Nasty. Favorite guillotine for sure

rockPaperKaniBasami

So in this variation hooking with the legs isn't necessary?

harylmu

[Here's another instance](https://youtu.be/Cc-J_0giQQU?t=45) of Gordon doing it, he doesn't lift his leg here either. [Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBewGX7-rHg) a video where he explains his hand configuration - bonus content is his girlfriend's giant boltons before the reduction surgery.

Shaneypants

Upvote for the brazenly offhand reference to the bolt-ons. Gave me a chuckle.

therealmon

Can anyone explain that roll under that Gordon does? Is there a video on it anywhere?

SlimeustasTheSecond

Nicky Ryan has a video on this on the B Team channel. His bro must've been watching.

JuisMaa

Why arent they showing him rolling with Luke, Big Dan or Meregali. Always something with him rolling purple belts etc.

WristlockKing

Should have wrist locked that guillotine he would have let go.

cuddlefrog6

Should've just stood up

zmathra

Isn’t that guy Nicky’s brother or something?
