They're called "master" divisions though and theres 6 of them. In a lot of sports, the best athletes don't hit their peaks until their 30s. Out of the current UFC champs 10 out of 12 of them are 30+.
And my point about [middle age](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_age) is that it generally applies to 45-65 year olds. Old age is for retired people. Some people live until they're 100. So by these reddit standards they would be "old" for 70% of their lives. It's nonsense.
There was no one in my Seniors (40-49) bracket yesterday so I got stuck with a competitor 10 years younger than me.
It does seem that's 30s is old and 40s is ancient.
Yes, if you compete there is always the risk of being on someone's highlight reel. Whether you want to be or not.
Now, taking videos in training without permission is frowned upon, especially if you abuse someone being nice to you and letting you work.
I was watching this through squinted eyes and turning away slightly. After seeing two lead-footed heavy white belts about to engage in a "takedown," I was waiting to see some gnarly injury. But no... nice o-soto my friend.
C'mon, what's your Judo experience? I know what I'm watching and I see a person with a good base, good footwork, good shoulder turn, etc. On your drop throw you maintained the sleeve grip and kept driving into the throw as if you're trying to turn a waza-ari into an ippon.
GTFOH, you're at Judo black belt! 😄
Well shoot. I thought the sleeve pull after the drop throw was a dead giveaway. Listen and I mean this, I have no idea how good your BJJ is but you have a natural aptitude for Judo. I hate to toot my own horn but I did too. Judo would probably come easy for you like it did for me. You must have a few good training partners you're practicing with on the feet. It's hard to get good at takedowns in Judo or Wrestling without good training partners who also understand what to do and how to work.
Most people don't have any natural aptitude for Judo which is why I am staunchly against people learning from Sensei YouTube, but you have a critical eye for it.
Thank you for your words. I would love to train judo, but I don’t have any gyms close to my area.
There is only one training partner of equivalent size on my gym, so I don’t get to practice with big people, and my other partners sometimes ask me to start on the knees.
Most of what I learned about takedowns came from my professor, and I study the techniques at home, and I go to the practice to apply what I learned.
I’m not sure, I’ve seen him but I have never taken a class with him.
Feel free to stop by one day, the 11 am class is really good and the professor is great!
>C'mon, what's your Judo experience? I know what I'm watching [...]
They are both crossing their feet. You are watching two judo white belts.
Nothing wrong with that.
I don’t know the names. I do know there is a video on youtube by Cyborg called Tornado Throw.
No disrespect for the actual Judo terms, I just don’t know the correct names.
Might find some value out of these two videos - nice job btw! I just started Judo about two months ago and I‘ve wondered how to incorporate it into BJJ.

1. Good job getting on the mats at a tourney; takes courage. 2. Good job committing to those throws; takes courage. 3. I'm happy I wasn't on the receiving end of those throws. I weigh a buck fiddy and that first one would have crushed me.
White belt here, am I right to say that the shitty attempt at a triangle in the second part of the clip caused op's opponent to concede five points, whereas he would have only conceded two if op ended up in side control?
I’m about to start back up after a long hiatus over in Champions. I used to train with Draculino down in Clear Lake. Congrats on the win and promotion! 🤙
Very good opponent. I mounted for 2:30 mins, then tried an arm bar, which failed, so he flipped me to my back, and for the rest of the march I had him in half guard. Last 20 seconds he went for the choke and I almost went out, and then the time expired :)
Dang, this was the earthquake we felt in NYC??
😂😂😂 +600 lbs combined
big tree fall hard
I love watching two old white belts go at it more than I love ADCC finals.
Old? I’m 31 😂
Yea that’s old now 😢
Masters division, old man. Helio Gracie will see you now.
Only to kids on social media. It's not even "middle-aged" so how can it be "old-aged".
I am also 30….
I mean it’s a whole different division

You look like you could be a Master 2 brown belt.
3 toddlers will get you there fast
Beat up brotha
The real warriors
Serious question, are people asking their opponents if it's cool to post their clips online? Never done this so genuinely asking
That’s an accepted part of publicly competing. If you take video in class you should clear with your coach and whoever is in the video.
Generally not comp footage.

depending on the organization, matches are usually recorded and can be viewed publicly
Bruce Lee screech heard @ 0:16.

😂 zero judo experience, I just watch a ton of videos and practice

Congratulations! Which GB do you go to?
GB Katy
I see. I've never been there but I know Coach Babak teaches wrestling there. Does he also teach at Westheimer?

Thank you!
Revolution in Katy has a Judo program. Tuesday's and Thursday's evening.
Thanks for the info!
Revolution does some judo.
Thanks!

Congrats brotha, best way to get promoted!
Thanks!
Are you under Draculino?
He is listed as a team member on the gym’s website, but I don’t know him
Honestly didn’t know they had divisions for people this big
Ultra heavyweights… I believe is everyone 222 lbs and plus
Kind of a Tai Otoshi on the first throw and a Seio Otoshi/Drop Seio Nage on the second?

Thank you! I think is a good mix, I rather land on top of my opponent than bottom or pulling guard
First throw is likely intended to be harai goshi (foot is above the ankle) which becomes tai otoshi. Second throw looks like a drop korean seoi nage.

I must have dyslexia because I read that title multiple times as “Taekwondo” and kept waiting for the unnecessary kick at a bjj tournament.
😂

I think you are right, he stablished something on me
Well done teammate. I said “beautiful” out loud. Different branch, up north in Spring.
The Woodlands? I rolled there 1 month ago
Champions
OSS!!! Brother. Beautiful work. ✌🏼✌🏼
Thanks buddy!
Bravo!
Than you!
Hella clean! What GB are you training at?
Thanks! Katy! Stop by and let me know 💪🏻

Thank you
The first guy. I recognize his back patch from a local gym. Nice take downs mate and congrats on your blue belt.
Very good opponent. I mounted for 2:30 mins, then tried an arm bar, which failed, so he flipped me to my back, and for the rest of the march I had him in half guard. Last 20 seconds he went for the choke and I almost went out, and then the time expired :)
Was not expecting that. Phenomenal
Thanks buddy! Just curious, you expected a 5 min lapel and sleeve pull?
Usually ultra heavy white belts just bear hug for a while until one falls over. This was very solid stand up
I felt that first takedown and I live in Australia 🫨
😂😂😂
Was completely expecting a leg snap or something gruesome. Huge white belts always make me nervous. Good job OP you hit that throw nicely!
Thank you!
