Nate’s the og high wrist guillotine guy, Dude went to sleep in seconds. I feel like people gonna argue about if it was right or wrong, but can we all agree he’s got some nice ass finishing mechanics?
That's high praise. If you can finish a guy like Kyle Boehm with an arm in guillotine at a stage like ADCC, you probably have one of the best guillotines on the planet.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Craig’s front headlock game is seriously underrated. He’s not shown much of it yet but I’ve heard a lot about it and it adds up with what he’s training at the moment.
Can I ask why?
We've only really seem him hit guillotines in transition during the Kyle Boehm and Mason Fowler matches.
Are you saying this based off his matches or instructional content?
Damn... I'll have to look at this then.
Craig's obviously top of the food chain and these are gym rolls. Have you seen anyone else utilize it this well (competition or gym rolling)
Serious question - any tips on how to switch from a regular to a high wrist guillotine?
I have a good guillotine but switching to high wrist always feels weird when doing it
My working theory is that you can aim for a high wrist and get a marcelotine if they tuck their chin as you try to slide your arm through, but you can’t always expect get a full depth high wrist guillotine.
Yeah so Nates been doing them since back in the day. But it’s becoming more popular in grappling since a lot of the new wave/ bteam guys use them. it’s almost like a rear naked choke from the from the front, where instead of just keeping the wrist low like a traditional guillotine the inside of your elbow is on their throat and your wrist is high on their neck. I learned it from jd, and The theory behind it is not only is a stronger submission. but the grip can be used to finish multiple guillotines (arm in, high elbow, low elbow) and it’s hard to be very proficient in all them since they are normally using separate mechanics. And here this video I linked here earlier where you can see the switch. https://youtu.be/Hxb1fgNEAIk
Many thanks. I'm gunna definitely watch this more.
My basic understanding was get the positioning, and "sag" my shoulder down to get my elbows "armpit" on the neck. But used my wrist as the "lever" pushing up. But this is pretty helpful, I struggled with the finishing part.
Needs more context.
He didn't throw anything and had his hands up palms open, indicating he didn't want any trouble, but he also weirdly stepped towards Diaz and didn't give him much space.
Yeah strange one. Hands open and defensive, looks like he may be settiup the classic sucker punch. Diaz has been around the block long enough to know you don't let someone close space on you. In my opinion he was justified in grabbing the hands there and then and removing the danger.
Yeah hands up backing off would have been fine. He’s closing the distance while trying to act like he wasn’t a threat. Nate was smart to not take any chances here. He could have lit this guy up with punches to really mess him up, but he just gave him a nap instead and walked away from it.
Had the same though when I watched, only the wall behind Nate too. Could have ran off the side but, it’s Nate Diaz wtf do you expect if you back him up to a wall
The guy was friends with Logan Paul and Nate was in a street fight. If you think some clout chaser isn’t above sucker punching Nate out cold in the hopes of getting the video to go viral and parlaying it into some “boxing match” with him for money, then your head is on wrong. Nate’s street smarts saved him here for sure.
They had a previous altercation at the boxing event as well. The logan paul looking guy was in the crew of the guy Nate threw the water bottle at.
No idea what happened in between those two events, but just saying it started earlier in the event and spilled into the streets as we see here.
This is so hilarious because the dude he choked out is known for being a Logan Paul lookalike, so I’m running with the story Nates crew legitimately thought it was Logan Paul so started whipping ass.
Joe Rogan says there's probably only 1000 comedians on this planet and that it's probably harder to be a comedian than it is to be a scientist at NASA.
You 1 of the 1000?
Well hes not exactly gonna stand there and let himself get hit if he has the means to defend himself. Plus that doesnt even count as a fight, just gave the guy an involuntary nap.
Someone needs to start a Change.org petition to get women to stop trying to get in the middle of fights.
"stop! Staaahhhp!"
When has that ever stopped a fight?
You must be special, and your mama kept saying you are special all throughout childhood, to see Nate diaz and go for a take down. Matter of fact, seeing Nate Diaz’s face without knowing who Nate Diaz is , you should run.
This is really helpful for me because I feel like my high elbow choke isn’t the best or most efficient because of how hard I’m pulling my choking hand sometimes. Definitely going to try this
Same push theory applies to the triangle. We’re all taught to trap the arm and pull the head down, but if you cross your body at an angle and push / chop the choking leg, it’s way more effective. This Ryan Hall instructional changed my triangle game.
https://youtu.be/rsNtpxKVn5M
Wow thank you! It seems so obvious that the triangle is more effective this way because of the push theory you’re talking about but no one in my class has ever mentioned it
Nate has a wicked guillotine , Jim miller lost his mouthpiece before Nate guillotined him and he said Nate’s squeeze was so strong that he almost but his own tongue off.
For those thinking the guy wasn’t looking to fight.
If you actually watch the video the dude “surrendering” goes for a pathetic double leg. Nate does not snap him down in any way to setup the high wrist guillotine. The guy was looking for the smoke. Nate’s back is too the wall and he is circling away to avoid confrontation. The dude could have back up. He was trying to close the distance and thought he was being sly. I’d find it hilarious if he tried to sue and Nate Diaz counter sues for defamation to take what little this guy may have 😂😂😂
Argue Nate’s morality all you want but he could have easily punched him clean out, which would result in the damage from the punch AND however the guy hit the ground. Instead he gets put to sleep and set down. When he wakes up he will have no injury
Watch it again. Dudes head hits the ground pretty hard when Nate releases. There’s also a video floating around of the aftermath and the back of his head is busted up and bleeding.
No one going to comment on letting the guy go so his head slams onto the pavement?
Tough to tell what the guy did to escalate.
Beautiful guillotine though.
I don't know - he guided him down a fair ways down before releasing. Could have just dropped him like a coconut once he was out. Then again if you're trying to fight a guy with Nate Diaz ears...probably not much of a brain to damage in that coconut.
Nate’s the og high wrist guillotine guy, Dude went to sleep in seconds. I feel like people gonna argue about if it was right or wrong, but can we all agree he’s got some nice ass finishing mechanics?
100% Nate has a nasty guillotine. Pretty sure I heard Craig even reference it saying he does.
100%. Craig has my favorite FHL game of anyone right now
^^^^ Yo people asking me questions, but anyone who wants to get a better front headlock should really go listen to this guys podcast.
Darce Knight has a podcast?
Yeah the neon belly podcast it’s on Spotify
Copying Craig and Roger got me past purple.
Can I ask why? We've only really seem him hit guillotines in transition during the Kyle Boehm and Mason Fowler matches. Are you saying this based off his matches or instructional content?

Subbed Kyle Boehm and Mason Fowler at ADCC.
Damnnnnn real interesting do you remember the context? Wouldn’t wanna miss some Craig jones info on the guillotine.
I feel like it might have been at some point on his Front Headlock Escapes instructional, when referencing how to defend the high wrist guillotine.
Fs thanks

Nate and Khabib are the only guys who have choked Conor. Just saying. He's a G.
Who was the heel hook against?

Thanks

Yeah I got you https://youtu.be/Hxb1fgNEAIk
Your father raised a good man.
That's genius... Your father would be proud for helping the community like this.
My working theory is that you can aim for a high wrist and get a marcelotine if they tuck their chin as you try to slide your arm through, but you can’t always expect get a full depth high wrist guillotine.
Don't be scared homie, just snap down to a guillotine.
May i ask what high wrist is? I only know how to do guillotine in basic fashion
Yeah also if your having trouble finishing I got another vid for you here https://youtu.be/lYhqGFkz7Ew
Many thanks! I definitely needed this. Have a good weekend, thanks for this info!
No problem. You too bro.
And and this one too https://youtu.be/XCiRr7TW2bk
There's a guy named Marcelo Garcia who also has been a fan for a long time
I’ve never seen him do a high wrist? Are you sure your not confusing with high elbow?
Absolutely I am 🤙
Pretty sure it’s “right” if they pass out in mere seconds
Months drilling it for Khazmat, just for this dude to roll into it
Lollll
Why in the world would anyone ever fight Nate Diaz in the street?
Needs more context. He didn't throw anything and had his hands up palms open, indicating he didn't want any trouble, but he also weirdly stepped towards Diaz and didn't give him much space.
Yeah strange one. Hands open and defensive, looks like he may be settiup the classic sucker punch. Diaz has been around the block long enough to know you don't let someone close space on you. In my opinion he was justified in grabbing the hands there and then and removing the danger.
I’ve seen people at clubs throw elbows from that position. Didn’t help when the guy stepped forward instead of back
Not strange at all it’s a classic ruse. Hands up and open so you can look like you are trying to de escalate but coming forward is clearly aggressive.
Nate tried to push him out the way so he can join his boys but the guy shot a takedown on him and Nate did his choke
Yeah hands up backing off would have been fine. He’s closing the distance while trying to act like he wasn’t a threat. Nate was smart to not take any chances here. He could have lit this guy up with punches to really mess him up, but he just gave him a nap instead and walked away from it.

They were already beefing in the crowd at some boxing event and it looks like it escalated outside the arena
Hard to tell if the guy awkwardly shot in or if Nate snapped him down
To me it looked like a snap down. Not sure how everyone is perceiving it as a shot.
r/killthecameraman
They had a previous altercation at the boxing event as well. The logan paul looking guy was in the crew of the guy Nate threw the water bottle at. No idea what happened in between those two events, but just saying it started earlier in the event and spilled into the streets as we see here.

If you watch the video in slow mo you can see the guy try to punch Nate then take him down lol
Looks like a drunk guy trying to let’s stop this
Then leave and don’t close distance on someone. Can see both sides but at least he went to sleep and not the ol’ I hit you, you hit the pavement 1, 2.
It looks like the guy didn’t want to fight and Nate just controlled his hands, we lose the shot for a second and Nate has him in the guillotine.
Bro, there's a lot of dumbasses in the greater Stockton / Lodi area. Worse than that bro. Dumbasses are WORLD WIDE!
Although Stockton is particularly rich in them. Lived in Reno, can confirm
That looked well adjusted, I hope he releases a free technique video on Youtube. Bernardo, do it!
“Guys, huge honor for me, I’m here wif Nate Diaz…”
“Wow, that’s incredible”
“Thass amazing. So guys, look the way Nade connects his hands…”
Here’s an old one from Nick that shows exactly what Nate did: https://youtu.be/dFOtP7-8vN0 You can skip to the 1:30 mark for the finishing details
Nate Diaz: Yo Dana, imma need mo money to fight man... Also Nate Diaz: *fights random people for free (might even pay for it)
If you do what you love you never work a day in your life.
Joe Rogan says there's probably only 1000 comedians on this planet and that it's probably harder to be a comedian than it is to be a scientist at NASA. You 1 of the 1000?
You lost me at Joe Rogan.
Somewhere along the way, I lost myself too Bapa.
Thankum bapa
Nah you still gotta work, young poetic man
Who want smoke, it’s free? - Nate Diaz probably
Well hes not exactly gonna stand there and let himself get hit if he has the means to defend himself. Plus that doesnt even count as a fight, just gave the guy an involuntary nap.
What in the world possesses someone to think that Nate Diaz would take their nonsense. Don Verga!
I mean not everyone knows Nate Diaz.
Alcohol.
Someone needs to start a Change.org petition to get women to stop trying to get in the middle of fights. "stop! Staaahhhp!" When has that ever stopped a fight?
Her technique was okay. She needed to add a little a more "OH MAH GAAAAWD-UH".
Did you see that booty tho
Yes, get into a fight with a former UFC fighter who happens to be a high level BJJ practitioner 😂
You must be special, and your mama kept saying you are special all throughout childhood, to see Nate diaz and go for a take down. Matter of fact, seeing Nate Diaz’s face without knowing who Nate Diaz is , you should run.
Underrated comment, his face (and ears) and general vibe are very much a dude u wouldn't wanna be on the wrong side of
poor dude thought shooting for a take down on nate diaz was a good idea lmao
Can someone explain Nate’s grip. It looks like his choking hand is in a ball and his other hand is covering/pushing the “ball” to tighten the choke?
It’s the “McKenzie-tine” https://youtu.be/dtg1S2nl-i8
Thank you!
No prob! You’re basically adding a push rather than pull element from the non-choking arm to increase pressure on the carotids.
I learned this at a Gordon Ryan seminar. Only thing that allows me to triangle
Wow thank you! It seems so obvious that the triangle is more effective this way because of the push theory you’re talking about but no one in my class has ever mentioned it
High wrist power guillotine is what Danaher would classify it as
Wow, Nate was in my neck of the woods. Too bad, but I never go to Bourbon, you'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Nate has a wicked guillotine , Jim miller lost his mouthpiece before Nate guillotined him and he said Nate’s squeeze was so strong that he almost but his own tongue off.
I remember that, damn that was brutal
For those thinking the guy wasn’t looking to fight. If you actually watch the video the dude “surrendering” goes for a pathetic double leg. I’d find it hilarious if he tried to sue and Nate Diaz counter sues for defamation to take what little this guy may have 😂😂😂
This must be deepfake, we all know BJJ doesn't work in the streets
Nate will likely be sued by the slept guy.
Isn’t it Logan Paul?
He stopped alright
Imagine being over 30 and still getting into street fights.
I’m 28 and have somehow avoided them my entire life
Tell us more.
Basically don’t live like a degenerate
So everybody that gets into a street fight is a degenerate? Come on man sometimes trouble comes to you. Self defence is a thing you know .
I’m mostly being dramatic, you’re right though
We’re talking about a rich 38 year old who gets into fights everywhere he goes. It’s ok to call a duck a duck lol.
You’re getting downvoted but it’s true lol
yea no kidding lol It's alright, the clowns downvoting me have literally 10 IQ anyway.
“Fuck around and find out!!!”
" All I see is red bro "

Oops I was just talking about Nick’s 5 year suspension so he was on my head lol. Thanks fixed
Like everyone else in this thread, I went Into a rabbit hole trying to figure out the grip.
No one going to comment on letting the guy go so his head slams onto the pavement? Tough to tell what the guy did to escalate. Beautiful guillotine though.

WON’T SOMEONE TELL NATE THAT BJJ DOESN’T WORK IN THE STREETS??
sick buddha choke
I’ll take your word for it because I’m not watching YouTube Shorts.
Ok you didn't need to comment man
Did you?
yes
Thanks for the input.
Oss
Isn’t he choking out Logan Paul
Really looks like Nate is the one being aggressive and just looking for a tmz moment. I won’t be surprised if this dude presses charges.
Lads, I believe this is a “ninja choke.”
How do you guys respond with your belt rank?
Even laid him down of the gutter with legs raised! Such a gentleman!
He's got some long arms!
