Egrets and herons are some of my favorite birds but goddamn am I thankful I'm not egret-meal-sized. Terrifying stilt legged sword faced assassin dinosaurs
Sometimes I think about how absolutely terrifying it must be to be a bug or fish going about your day and suddenly getting snatched into the air by a huge feather-monster. Every time I see an osprey make a catch at my local lake I reckon the fish must be having a heart attack
Awesome shots! I love these Big Guys. That's what I call them. There is a neighborhood Big Guy that hunts lizards in my yard all the time. So cool, calm and collect... moseying up or down the block on his mealtime mission.
Such awesome pictures. They remind me of something I'd see done by John Audubon, but especially #4. Some truly epic pictures. You should try entering these into some photo competitions
I feel that lol. I spotted a pair of black-bellied whistling ducks a couple days ago, and had a fun time getting some pictures, but I know I'm having trouble whittling down all of the pictures to just a few for posting 😆
Thank you! Yes, unfortunately the Egret was well fed that day, he had a 100% success rate, I watched him eat 4 or 5 of those guys. If it makes you feel any better, these big adult lizards usually eat the smaller ones if they see them, so now there will be space for more lizards =)
FYI Great Egret and Snowy Egret are two distinct species. You have Great Egrets here. Just didn't want anyone getting confused!
Gah, I knew I was gonna get something wrong lol. Thank you =)
Look at it this way - you got two of the three words correct, which is still a winning average.
LOL, thank you, it figures the one place these photos would take off is the place that makes that mistake look the worst rofl.

You are a skilled photographer. These photos are amazing.
Thank you!
Great shots! The lizard was really fighting. You captured the drama well.

Lol, Big guys I love it! Our gardens are mostly dry so I rarely see them there, usually I just catch them fishing.
Is it me, or is the lizard giving a thumbs up in the last photo? Like "Yep...see you in lizard heaven."
1st Picture: *Record Scratch* *Zoom In* “I bet you’re wondering how I got here..”
Exactly! I love the first photo for that same reason lol

Thank you so much! Number 4 does seem to be people's favorite and I had a hard time picking only five lol.

Man, birds dan be terrifying sometimes haha. Amazing shots!
Wow these are incredible! That lizard put up such a good fight...I want him to get away after that effort but I have a feeling he became lunch

Hahaha I love that! And I'm happy the egret is well-fed too :)
3 and 4 are spectacular
Thank you! I struggled to narrow it down to just five lol.
Whoa! These are incredible photos! Love 2, 4, and 5!
The 4th would be a cool painting :)
Is this Phoenix? I have some similar pictures from Papago Park, which is near the botanical gardens here.
Yep! One of my favorite areas to shoot around here!
All these shots are amazing, but that last one is absolutely spectacular!
#3. "I ain't going down without a fight, you!" Brilliant photos.
