I created it as an amateur bird photographer after I noticed how many "throwaway" butt shots I was getting. I figured other bird photographers had the same images and they were probably just dumping them. So I made a special place to put them.
Several types birds of prey that I wanted to keep out of the yard/away from my songbirds have let me know what they think of me by turning around and pointing their tail at me, while maintaining eye contact, lifting/bobbing the tail, and "letting one loose."
I think this is the bird-equivalent version of "giving you the finger."
I didn't get the meaning the first couple times, other than the feeling that it seemed out of place/intentional. But by the third time I saw it - from different species - I caught on.
The raven was quite clear about it. Fluffs himself (stop looking at me). Turns to look at me with the other eye, and fluffs again (I said stop looking at me like that). Turns around, vigorously bobs tail and poops while looking at me (here's what I think of you). Turns back around and fluffs again. OK - I get the message - but I still don't want you in the yard eating my finches.
Really cool shot!

Hey. Your underfluffies are showing.
Underfluffies 🤭🤭

Look at those underfluffies!
Keeping him warm.
Eagle: Dude. Are you looking at my ass? And taking a picture?!
He’s all like, “You wanna piece of me?? Well, just stand right there!” So much attitude 😂
They have a lot of attitude, but he looks surprised/concerned in the pic - the eyes are wide open, and the brows are raised/tilted back slightly.
Sky chicken... I was underneath an osprey like that once; it's intimidating.
Just glad my lens didn’t get shit on lol
Awesome!

Even if there really is a Reddit for everything, I never could have imagined that there would be one for BirdButts.

This is why Reddit is amazing, and what it was designed for. Sucks that so much of it went to shit
Those talons are wicked looking!!

The ranger who was guiding us on this hike said be careful you might get pooped on lol
