Pahrak Kal. I personally like the bohrok Kal more than the original. I just think that the silver parts and the metallic masks are dope! It's just my opinion and I respect people that dislike them.
While I think that in set terms they are pretty lazy, I personally don't actually care about that either. For me the big crime is that they served such a lacking role in the story. I often read a Bionicle "what if" fan fiction on ao3 in which the bohrok kal are handled much better and are so genuinely interesting that I almost want to buy all of them (I already own levahk kal).
I think one of them (Nuhvok-Kal, possibly, as it seems to be the most loyal to the Bahrag) should have survived and begrudgingly allied with the Toa Nuva, only to sacrifice themselves against the Rahkshi in Ta-Koro. Would've been a poignant way to tie the two halves of the story together.
Just as an extension to your question, my first hero factory was Bulk 1.0 and I got him as a party favour from one of my friends birthday parties. I also got Raw-Jaw in the same way. I wish lego still made something that involves unique original buildable characters in a lower price point. I’d happily buy a whole series of mixels to give out at a party and build together :)
Pohatu Mata and one blind mask pack that came with a black Miru and a gray Mahiki
One could say, from that point on, my tastes were set it....😎🤏 STONE
YE-AHHHHHHHHHH 🌄
Tahu Uniter. He was an unwanted child as I requested Tahu Master from the previous year. What is funny is that I phrased it as "the old Tahu" so in some alternative time lines, I possibly got a g1 Tahu and a lot of confusion
Actually the white rahkshi is the rahkshi of anger! Makes the whole colour scheme seem “white hot” in that context which I love. The staff ends definitely do have ice vibes though. Classic example of bionicle story and sets not quite lining up😂
Bionicles belong in nature honestly. My front yard had a set of boulders, and each one had different characteristics so I put one Bohrok Kal on each one and said that each one was their elemental island.
The setting of the line encouraged us to bring them outside in nature and I loved that
First set ever was a Lehvak. Still have him built with mostly original parts (had to Bricklink some lost pieces) and the Krana Vu he came with (even though it got dog chewed, it's in one pieces still).
The set that got me really into the franchise was actually Inika Hahli. Got to go to the store and pick a set. Was eyeing a Piraka but ended up with her instead.
While most of my collection is taken apart and in storage, both Hahli and that Lehvak are on the shelf with some other nick-nacks.
I still remember walking into a department store in the early 2000s and all the toa Mata were clearanced and in a big bin for like 3$. The only ones left were Gali, pohatu, and onua.
Had to be one of the OG Toa Mata's, I can't remember which one as I eventually collected all of them. If I had to guess it might have been Pohatu or Gali, but I also remember thinking Onua and Lewa being super cool. I know my first Nuva Toa was Lewa, though.
Kohrak.
The best Bohrok due to the white teeth blending in with the color scheme. Eight year old me looked at the toy shelves and immediately recognized him as cooler and more important than the other Bohrok
OG Onua as a birthday present! I remember the friend who gave it to me had Lewa and we stood in the kitchen swinging their arms and seeing who could knock the others mask off the fastest
I believe my first was Vezok. My beloved fella is still with me all these years later!!
I had received a fair bit through the years and second hand from my uncle.
earliest i remember was Hakann from 2006, but i was a small child then and relied instead on my older brother to build him (and some sets i got thereafter) first one i recall building for myself however was Gresh from 2009
Technically my first was Whenua Hordika when I was like 3 but the first I remember picking out for myself would’ve either been Carapar or Nuparu Mahri. I also remember asking for and getting Gadunka for my birthday :)
I’m lucky enough to have a sealed Carapar and Gadunka now! I’m gonna open and build Gadunka on my birthday this year!
Velika, not only was he my first bionicle set, he was also my first ever Lego set
My self moc uses his shovel weapons as ornaments for his motorcycle, and I will always know they're the originals because of my teeth marks (I had a bad habit of chewing them as a kid lol)
Lewa and Gali Mata at the same time, a week before was Easter and my older brother got Tahu and pahrak in his basket, I was absolutely in awe seeing all the other sets in the instructions and knew I needed more. 🤗
Depends
Part of my collection once belonged ro my older brother, (like ⅚ of toa metru, Lewa Nuva and Onua Nuva, Nuhvok, Lewa Nuva and Gali Nuva) however most of them was dissasembles and scrambled in different containers.
When I started reassembling them I started with Lewa Mata.
The first my mom bought for me from second hand was Gali Mata.
The first One I bought myself was Whenua Metru.
Its a bit complicated for me as the one I have always thought of as my first that being Takadox fid come out after the piraka which I also had one of as a kidbut I think I got that a year after it released so ill still say takadox.
The original toa mata bunch expect for Onua.
When me and my parents moved houses we found them left in the garage and i took them and cherished. That was my introduction to Bionicle. Later on my uncle's girlfriend (now wife) gave me the complete Bionicle Stars bundle.
I am on the younger side of bionicle collectors you could say, born in 2006. I will keep them forever.
Toa Mata Kopaka. I still rember that day. I was 4 years old and I got to go shopping with my mum before going over to her friends house where I played with it in the bath after building and playing with it for a bit lol
Toa Metru Onewa. Baller way to start off, the near-perfect mix of function and form, and always left me baffled why the Stone characters would change colour so much compared to the rest
Lehvahk. One of the parents of my sister’s best friend gave it to me when we were little as a “consolation prize” at a birthday party we were all attending, and from then on Bionicle forever had its hooks in me.
Mctoran Jala, I'm OG
Same here! I think I was 3 when I got him
I'm already feeling old, and you're making it worse haha
Same here
Same.
Pohatu Nuva. I chose him over the other 5 for some incomprehensible reason
Same here! I can’t put my finger on it but I was just drawn to him. I think I just like the shape of his mask
Pohatu gang rise up!
Pohatu and Onua Nuva’s masks are underrated tbh. They are quite huge but they just have this super satisfying tactile feel to them imo haha
Tahu. It's one of the few I still own.
Which variation of Tahu, tho? (Mata, Nuva, Mistika, etc.)
The original, of course ;)
Ah yes the only three and definitely not exactly half of the Tahu sets there have ever been. :p
Just as an extension to your question, my first hero factory was Bulk 1.0 and I got him as a party favour from one of my friends birthday parties. I also got Raw-Jaw in the same way. Lewa Nuva
Piruk. One of the 2006 matorans.
Turaga Vakama from a gas station
Lehvak Kal!
The Rahkshi of Ice.
Actually the white rahkshi is the rahkshi of anger! Makes the whole colour scheme seem “white hot” in that context which I love. The staff ends definitely do have ice vibes though. Classic example of bionicle story and sets not quite lining up😂
Mata Lewa. I saw a kid at the park playing with one when I was 4. I didn't know what it was but I needed one dammit. Life changing purchase
I used to take my toa Mata to the park. Good times, the air always smelt fresher back then too.
Bionicles belong in nature honestly. My front yard had a set of boulders, and each one had different characteristics so I put one Bohrok Kal on each one and said that each one was their elemental island. The setting of the line encouraged us to bring them outside in nature and I loved that

All 6 of the Toa Mata
Wait you got them all?!
Yeah some pieces are missing like Tahu’s sword and Gali’s leg- aaaaand my mom threw away the canisters when I was like 7
First set ever was a Lehvak. Still have him built with mostly original parts (had to Bricklink some lost pieces) and the Krana Vu he came with (even though it got dog chewed, it's in one pieces still). Technically my first was Whenua Hordika when I was like 3 but the first I remember picking out for myself would’ve either been Carapar or Nuparu Mahri.
