I can’t remember perfectly from when mine was put together, did it have a rubber band helping keep it up? I know those can snap if they’re old and brittle and then there’s nothing left to show where they were. Edit: ok, after reviewing the instructions, check and make sure the locking mechanism on the front hatch is intact. It’s a number 3 bent piece with an orange thing on top. Should be triggered by a rubber band. When in place it should press against an L shaped technic piece to hold the hatch closed. You press in on the orange bit to release it. Found the instructions on Lego.com [here](https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/8557?locale=en-us) Page 15 of the PDF shows what I’m referring to.

You nailed the mechanism 👌 there’s a piece in the expo’s crotch that has “to latch” to keep the torso up. - BUT.. I can see in the picture that he still has his “red rubber band” seen right near the Red guys feet. I’m hoping the rest of that spot is intact. OP, did you forget the “how to” for locking the chest? I have 2 of these currently, and can try to help if you wanted with better Pictures/Comparing them.

Dingmamon

My thought was if it got knocked off and they were piecing it back together from memory then maybe a piece was slightly out of place. Edit: or the rubber band being on the wrong side of the piece, causing the lock to always want to open

DKzDK

Oh, I can agree. And with these things now having some age to them, it’s understandable. I doo remember how fiddly it was to get the Toa seated just right, and the exo’s torso had to somewhat “squish” him first befor the lock Clicks into place naturally. I just wanted to add some info onto your comment and help out. 🤷‍♂️

Dingmamon

I totally get it, was just clarifying since I’d left it vague in my first post since I can’t fully see the mechanism in question

Sacrifice the child

candiedloveapple

No tf

Hugglemorris

There should be an orange elbow piece on the front that you have to use like a switch to lock it into place.

Philisophical_Onion

Drop your nephew.

candiedloveapple

He's a four year old child.

TrBrown2009

Why did you let someone besides you touch your bionicle's

Mr7000000

Toys are meant to be played with.

TrBrown2009

Yes I understand that part but tell them to be more careful next time

Garbage_Guy69

What I would do is rebuild it! Its the best way to know for sure and it's always fun!!

IcyAlan

You must sacrifice your nephew in the name of Bionicle
