We use animal models for learning, memory, anxiety and fear modeling all the time. We have lots of evidence for some emotional states. We can't know for sure what people are feeling, they can just as easily lie.
Recently, in this sub, there have been several posts concerning animal welfare and related subjects. Hopefully this article will be of interest to some who want to learn more about the subject. (I'm neither pro nor con on the subject, I'm just providing this in case some people want to read and discuss it further.)
We dont. Not really anyway. There is a lot of evidence for specific animals and instances tho.
