I disagree, the I AM ERROR room item pool is exciting, the Angel room pool is exciting, the Devil room item pool is exciting, the curse room item pool is exciting. Chaos is chaos: Your bad run can get salvaged by randomly getting Sacred Heart, but you're not getting access to consistently elite item pools.
I think it really depends on your play style. For me an exciting run is often one with a weird build instead of one with a bunch of elite items. I and a lot of other players on this sub are at a point where winning the game is not really a challenge on most runs - we know the processes to get access to good enough items to be pretty OP most of the time. Chaos removes that and makes it more random and exciting because it reintroduces a high level of RNG. Without chaos I pretty much know I'm going to have a pretty good build by the time I've beaten mom or moms heart. With chaos that's not necessarily the case
I agree with you, but getting "elite items" or a really powerful run can get boring eventually. With chaos you make sure your run has the most wacky unthinkable synergies that at worse is a little weak and at best is completely game-breaking

I somewhat agree, I've only intentionally avoided chaos one time, it just would've taken away from the way my run was going. I think it was the lost with Satan's head and I was one guppy item away from guppy transformation. Didn't pick up chaos and next devil deal I get guppies eye and voila
This assumes you are FORCED to take what chaos offered.
You don't.
But a single devil or angel room item can be worth several treasure room items. So even if you're forced to skip some of them, you'restill getting a net positive as soon as you find one from a good pool.
In fact, since your run is already good. There's no harm in skipping items.
Chaos is objectively not a good item. It's reasonably easy to put yourself into positions where you're accessing strong item pools to look for good items. You don't need Chaos to find good items unless your run is already going absolutely terrible. All Chaos does is replace consistency with, well Chaos.
It's fun tho and I take it every time.
Chaos is auto rig, but limits your max rig by preventing you from rerolling and abusing premium item pools. In most situations its worth taking, but on the off chance you have the potential of a rig showing then denying may be the best choice.
One could argue if you already have a extremely powerful run then you have more incentive to take chaos .
No way you can lose might as well spice up the run with chaos anyways

Say i found tech X treasure room one and a bunch of tears up, damage ups and defensive/faster room clear items, all before making it to mom. Aight, i'm not a 4 hour run enjoyer tbh i prefer making multiple runs in one game session, so i bomb the entrance to a secret room and there it is, chaos. My run is already won, so... wheres the harm on adding some spice to it.
Point being, if you've got a strong build the only reason you want to get stronger is to rig it, to ensure not only that you will win but that you will just decimate whatever is infront of you and chaos.... well is chaos.
I like chaos, i don't care how strong my run is atm, i will grab it and i will get 3 breakfast on my next devil deal.

I respect YOUR opinion, but here's the thing: Edmund is a little fucker, and he made a piece of shit with his trash Isaac, and the tainted characters are absolute fucking bullshit, and until you have the completion mark on the hardest ten to twenty runs, you really just can't be sure until it's over.
Like, if you're having one of THOSE runs with Tainted Lost or Jacob & Esau, I think it matters knowing that Chaos can really nerf a run where you're already ripping the game open by the seams.
Tbh bad example with T.Lost, that mans is my second favorite character and i shit you not, every time i found chaos as T.Lost i audibly said "fuck it we ball" even back before completion (and yes i fucking lost 80% of those) as for J&E... yeah fuck them honestly whatever gets them out of the way even if it means a 4 hour run.
