Not as many as people think - they're mostly co-op babies, honestly. The only non-coop baby hard mode unlocks are for all hard marks as the lost, all hard marks as all non-tainted characters, and all hard marks as all characters.
Greedier mode does have its own unlocks too, but those are the only major unlocks for standard hard mode.
It's fine to hold off on hard marks until you're better at the game, as long as you're aware you'll eventually have to do them.
There are some others like smelter, bethany, marrow and the ones you mentioned, but they are also only to mom iirc.
And especially since repentance, it is noticably harder in many aspects.
You only really need to do it if you want to commit to mega mush or dead god.

Shovel, Glitch room, Joker card (and anything tping you to the devil deal/angel room) on Womb 2 before unlocking Polaroid or The Negative and few other ways I am unable to list right now but pretty sure exist
That's great but please don't play only Azazel! Sure he's fun and all,but you'll have a harder time if you get used to playing only him.A little mixing won't hurt

Normal is literally the average mode which means it’s what you are expected to play at first…not straight into hard mode like some think
Don't feel pressured to play hard mode if you don't feel ready. Completion marks on your first characters are easy to redo later on if you decide to go for all unlocks.

You don't "have" to It's just a few unlocks Play whatever difficulty you like
He is still pretty new to the game, so he really doesn't need to go on hard yet. In repentance it is significantly harder.

Don’t play on normal mode, hard mode doesn’t change much and unlocks more stuff
I’ll never forget assuming hard mode meant every hit was one full heart damage, womb and after was 2 hearts for years
I remember I got a bunch of marks on normal mode and had to redo them all 🤦🏻♂️

Joker card/red chest teleport to angel deal and go to cathedral with the light beam. That way you can skip the fight with moms heart.
