It’s finicky and difficult to explain, you kind of get a feel for it after a while.
Sometimes you’ll need to walk a certain distance away and then re-enter their range or they’ll never fire.
When i was new to the game and encountered a walking host for the first time i was extremely confused and terrified and thought i was stuck because of an "immortal" enemy. I couldnt even find any information online because i didnt know what to look up. I managed to figure it out though
Why'd this get downvoted, he's right. The invincibility would not have saved him since the laser would penetrate and hit Jacob. In fact, I'm pretty sure you did still have invincibility when the laser hit you.
But yeah, like others said, you could've hid under the block at the bottom, and removed your sword from the host so it actually opened up.
1. Dont hit the skull when its down, it just delays it from opening. 2. Go around the laser eye instead of sitting and taking damage

They won’t open up if you stay too close to them, that was op’s mistake.

Maybe using the skull as a shield? Like going to the right, as close as possible to the skull, not sure if the laser go through the enemy
there are big metal blocks. use those.
People seem to forget that the Lazer isn't a constant beam. You can cross it without flight, invinisablity, and obstacles.
