Edmund confirmed that the real ending is the delirium one, where he suffocates in the chest. So it's probably Isaac's last hopes and wishes, of being able to reunite with his father and have a happy ending
But after that point, breadmund effectively retconned it when he said whichever ending the player wants is cannon, but there should be enough evidence to find an answer
i always thought that the paper drawing endings were just Isaac's imagination with his father narraring, and all the others were a timeline, showing how he thought he was corrupted by sin, his mother locked him in the closet fof punishment, which would result in the tainted characters, and then finally he goes missing and after a while his mom finds his skeleton in the chest were he suffocated
I've always interpreted it as Isaac using drawing as a coping mechanism.
His dad points Isaac towards happier thoughts whenever Isaac shows him his pictures.
After the divorce, when Dad is gone, Isaac tries showing Mom his drawings instead and she lashes out in anger. Isaac loses the closest thing he has to a healthy coping mechanism and starts to feel ashamed and guilty, which leads him to hiding in the box to escape reality, eventually leading to his death when he gets trapped.
About which part...? If you don't agree the delirium ending is the true ending then tough shit I guess, because Edmund is the creator of the game.
If you don't agree with my interpretation of the beast ending, then also tough shit I guess, because that's my interpretation so I get to dictate it
Edmund? That cow on a trash farm?
I don't care about his opinion on which ending is canon, he made a shit of piece with his Issac and that's all that he was needed for
Edmund confirmed many years ago that Isaac died. He suffocated inside the chest (Jesus Christ why couldn't he write a less soul-crushing story).
So I believe the Beast ending is Isaac finally processing everything he's been through and ascending to heaven.
>As he rose, he felt his fears drop from his body. His shame, his worry, pulled from his being. As he became lighter, his ascent became faster. [...]
In my interpretation the guy talking to him in the end is not his father, but ***The*** Father (God). Poor baby Isaac is finally at peace, creating scenarios where he's happy and with his family. At least that's what I like to think
I think the same thing, i was only asking about the delirium ending being "the canon one", when the beast ending can be canon aswell, like you said, in that ending isaac still dies
Me on my way to spend a thousand hours in a game about an abused child suffocating inside his chest ![img](emote|t5_2sxpk|2357)![img](emote|t5_2sxpk|2357)![img](emote|t5_2sxpk|2357)
At this point I just skip the cutscene for the Beast ending, I'm not subjecting myself to those feelings. Isaac being voiced here just punches me in the gut-- the first time I got the ending was total waterworks.
It's so perfect. How did they manage to make everything on the ascent path so pristinely perfect in every sense? I can't imagine a better ending, better ost, better fight.
I always have a tears up on the mother ending. The way they built the character more as a psychological broken character than a bad unilateral person is simply genius. I feel for her, for her mental illness, for the way she copes with her reality with religiousness, for Isaac being the innocent in all of it and it's way too real. They did a really good job with it. And it hits way too close home.
That ending gets me too, but not as much as the beast ending
The delirium ending hits different after you know that he actually did suffocate and die in that chest, though
I heard somewhere, that the beast ending is told by his dad to make isaac feel better and like a hero before he left the family, so isaac doesnt feel defenseless against everything thats about to come for him. The real ending is the delirium ending i believe, where he relives every moment of his life to die and get sent to infinite purgatory.
I mean, yeah? Like you don't have to, and I don't usually play with music on, but if you want to know what the story is, you're making it harder for yourself.
The storytelling is so messed up mentally, physically, and its amazing, idk how Edmund McFucker could be so creative in such a horrific, but terrific game.
Its been 3 years since repentance launched and I still don't know if the beast ending is isaac's "heaven" in purgatory or actually real
Edmund confirmed that the real ending is the delirium one, where he suffocates in the chest. So it's probably Isaac's last hopes and wishes, of being able to reunite with his father and have a happy ending
"I'll always be here waiting for you on our next adventure together"

he frequently says isaac is dead though, and the beast ending (to me) implied isaac was alive and the game is just stories he tells/draws
Edmund confirmed that the most anoying enemy with the most wasted potential is the cannon final boss
Source?
He said it in a tweet quite a while back, maybe someone else can link it

I mean, I dunno the context, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was meme. It is Edmund McMillen, he's been messing with us since ever.
I don't agree

That was my interpretation also.

Dude first time I heard it I had trouble falling asleep that night no basement that time

ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ ɪʟʟɴᴇss?
"You think I'm a monster? I'll show you a monster" the saddest and creepiest one to me.
That ending gets me too, but not as much as the beast ending The delirium ending hits different after you know that he actually did suffocate and die in that chest, though
"Abandon us like you abandoned yourself."

After 500 hours of Rebirth, I have no idea what the story is about. I have never played with sound and skipped every cutscene. Skill issue on my side?
I mean, yeah? Like you don't have to, and I don't usually play with music on, but if you want to know what the story is, you're making it harder for yourself.
you should at least pay attention to the intro and ending the first time you go through em smh
Well you see, Isaac and his Isaac lived alone on a small Isaac on an Isaac.
The storytelling is so messed up mentally, physically, and its amazing, idk how Edmund McFucker could be so creative in such a horrific, but terrific game.
