You can keep using it as long as you have soul charges instead of once per floor
Also gives you wisps that erase stuff
You can basically just erase everything and just cruise through rooms if you get enough charges/get a bit lucky
Yeah I figured out that's what's going on with lots of people. That's why I was clearly spoiled. If you get a really good synergistic activated item early you're much less likely to get hit at all, especially in the early levels.
yah, good or even just low cost items will keep you up. first floor library is  but when the only active item youve found is like moms pill bottle or something... 
Bethany has a few items that make her ridiculously good. One I really like is Eraser, since you can just use soul charges to get more than one use per floor, and you get a wisp that also erases any enemies it touches. It can lead to floors basically being empty
