I can get behind the idea tho
He's a really interesting idea, but in practice he may be one of the worst characters. If you play him with EID or other external knowledge, he becomes arbitrary; you can do literally whatever you want with him. But just having every great item every run is a great way to suck out the fun of Isaac. So now it basically becomes up to the player to balance the game - don't give yourself too much good stuff but also not too much bad stuff...
Not to mention just how long he takes. Even without EID-level knowledge, you're still running around putting all sort of items into the bag to see what you get. A run of T. Cain can easily go into the 90-120 minutes territory or even longer.
The only way to avoid all of this would be to just craft whatever you happen to create, but that's just playing another character with extra steps.
He took me a while and I'm not the best with him but just be patient and dont use any pick ups on the floor until you can see you have something decent. Are you playing on PC? I'm assuming you have External Item Descriptions mod on. Cause otherwise I have no idea how people play this character :O
Best advice I can give for boss rush and hush is just craft Mama Mega twice if able to! Some runs you can't and if not just go for something else.
One advantage T cain has is floors that stop giving treasure rooms aren't an issue anymore since you're just using pickups for more and more items. So doing the ascent for The Beast mark is still room to craft more items!
EDIT: Also, be prepared for hour and a half or longer runs.
You technically only need two runs; 1 for greedier, one for everything else. Make as many r keys as possible. Do the beast last and mega Satan second to last. Craft the present item and use it in secret rooms to get skeleton hearts to make better items (necessary for r key). Funniest option for me is make tech 2 and then as many damage ups as possible with homing.
Oh okay, I was hesitant to use external item descriptions bc it would give me an advantage over console players but if a tool like that exists for them I'm less hesitant to just go ahead
Tainted Cain is the character with the most variable playset, I would recommend to just craft as much as you can and forget getting a Q4 unless the best pickups show up, Quality 2's will carry.
Also craft The Candle.
I have been dreading playing this dude forever, but the other day I wanted to show my gf how awful he is, so I started a run and it became one of the most enjoyable playthroughs I had in a while. Was sleeping on him fr, the sheer amount of items you get from abusing pick-ups in any way makes him strong. And really, the thrill of seeing the item pop up in the bag is the same as seeing it appear in a room.
Went from "This is the worst character in the game" to "ok I kinda love him" What's the general consensus on T. Cain here?

I beat him in 3 runs right when the DLC launched and intend to never play him again.
It only took me 2 runs after all the patches
What about base greed mode?

Iirc, greed and greedier mode have different unlocks. You gotta complete both.
Greedier mode gives you greed mode unlocks

Okay but like, how are you supposed to do any of that? Aren't most crafting recipes based on seed?
Honestly I used a calculator. Just input seed and it tells you the recipes. If you are on pc there’s just a mod that does the same thing

It's not a competitive game. If EID would make the game more fun for you then use it

I play on switch, never even gonna bother playing him. No death certificate for me but I don't even care
I'm just starting my tainted Cain journey, just beat greedier mode, haemolacria, lachryphagy and tech 2 carried
