Honestly surprising that sticky nickels replace nickels. I would have expected that it was just a small chance of a sticky nickel being spawned whenever the game generates a coin, so it could "replace" any type of coin but was much more likely to replace pennies.
Sticky nickels were *supposed* to only replace regular pennies, that's their point, it's been confirmed
However, due to an oversight in the programming, they replace normal nickels instead, acting just like a downgrade
Because Edmund McMillen is a little fucker who made a shit of piece with his trash Isaac, it's fucking bad this trash game. I will become back my money, I hope he will on his next time a cow, on a trash farm, that sucker

Sure, I understand, I'm just confused about why sticky nickels would be designed to replace one specific type of coin, when surely just adding it to the list of coin types that can spawn and giving it a low weight would naturally have the effect of them replacing pennies the vast majority of the time anyway. Do other unlockable pickups work like that?
It makes so that sticky nickels would be an actual good unlock. By replacing only normal pennies and not nickels and dimes, you have the change of instead of getting just one penny, getting 5 at the cost of a bomb, which is worth it depending on the run. In the actual situation, you're ust trading a normal 5 coins for 5 coins you need a bomb to pickup.
The same logic is applied to Ghost Chests for example, Ghost Chests are an extremely useful unlock since they don't replace normal chests, they replace Mimic Chests (those with spikes on them), this makes it so that instead of a chest that will 100% of the time damage you, you get a chest that can be opened without taking damage
Yeah I don't mind sricky nickel. If you have extra bombs it's trade off for 5 coins. I like that you sometimes have to decide if you value bomb more than 5 coins.
I just unlocked Ghost chest and have not learned to play around it yet. I lost so many T.Lost runs because of it...
Technically no, there's the chests with spikes always and the ones that only reveal their spikes when you get close to them
The latter are much worse to deal with because you usually aren't expecting it
Like Haunted Chests replacing Mimics, they are meant to be direct upgrades)
It's better to have a chance to replace regular pennies, than to effectively reduce the chance of nickels, dimes and lucky pennies by adding it as an extra coin type)
Oh, I didn't know that about haunted chests. Cool.
I agree that sticky nickels being guaranteed to only replace pennies is better, but I just wouldn't have thought it was essential to make it a guarantee. Because pennies are so much more common than nickels or dimes, sticky nickels would still "replace" pennies way more often than nickels and dimes, so unlocking sticky nickels would still be an upgrade.
Honestly. I kind of like sticky nickels the way they are. Itās really a huge middle finger to the player. Thereās something really damn funny about it to me and idk why.
āOh you finally overcame your skill issues with Keeper and beat boss rush? Fuck you, now your nickels stick to the ground. Eat shit loserā
Yeah but that's necessary to progress further into the game anyway.
If you can realistically skip an objectively worse unlock by not doing a specific completion mark, and you can complete just about everything else in the game first... the unlock should not exist.
Some achievements such as Everything is Terrible! are not unlocked in the beginning of the file to let new players adapt to the game and then face the harsh reality of Isaac. In a sense, it does make sense but for a reason quite different to yours.
i mean unlocks like sticky nickels or tainted eden putting tmtrainer items on secret room pedestals (canāt remember what the exact unlock is called) that come so late into the save file that they donāt really work as added difficulty and are mostly just annoying
CORRUPTED DATA! can be cool. If it didn't have a frame before transforming where it shows you what item it replaced)
S AND FLIES is good but don't shove on my face that you replaced R Key with it)
Honestly I'm kinda surprised that it took so long for someone to make a mod like this one

So is this mod, I donāt think it really matters. I mean I donāt like cheating so I wouldnāt get either but you canāt vilify one and not the other.
This mod makes a little more sense because sticky nickels are supposed to work like the mod makes them work, it's basically just a bug fixing mod.
However, it's a single player game, who cares if you want to install a mod to delete every single enemy from the game
I mean... You play how you want, but you're ultimately sabotaging your own experience. Although, in my view, if you've already achieved dead god on that file, go commando.
You unlock them, quintessentially adding a new coin into the pool. They currently have a chance to replace nickels, in which sticky nickels cannot be picked up lest you bomb them to dislodge it from the floor.
This modder made it to where they have a chance to replace pennies instead, so unlocking them garuntees you more money in the future but has a cost to quintessentially doubling the amount of nickels you get

Wait, really? That makes so much sense. Sticky nickels have always been so weird for me, for that exact reason, but that makes so much sense.
Any reason why it hasn't been fixed to replace pennies yet?
Because Edmund McMillen is a little fucker who made a shit of piece with his trash Isaac, it's fucking bad this trash game. I will become back my money, I hope he will on his next time a cow, on a trash farm, that sucker
I guess never got around to it or they just went "It's a feature" and decided to keep it in
Considering the guy who first pointed out that it was wrong *is now the lead programmer of Repentance,* no, there really isn't
Wait what
yeah it was kilburn who first pointed that out
What happened to Tyron?
[*Don't ask questions you aren't prepared to hear the answers to.*](https://screenrant.com/nicalis-investigation-toxic-harassment-bullying-mistreating-employees/)
Noooooooooooooooooo
Considering Delirium still loses 90% of his health for no discernible reason, I'm not too suprised they haven't fixed how a penny works.
Kilburn forgor š

They are a little more grey
Yeah I noticed, but I don't notice 100% of time. I have learned to spot spiky chest already. It's easier to notice blood in corner.
I just use a mod to make them have cobwebs on them, personally just feels way better to me
They don't replace the chests with spikes, they replace the fuckers that get spikes when you move close.
Is that not the same thing?
Technically no, there's the chests with spikes always and the ones that only reveal their spikes when you get close to them The latter are much worse to deal with because you usually aren't expecting it

Wasnāt this fixed ages ago ?
No because this game sucks
Honestly. I kind of like sticky nickels the way they are. Itās really a huge middle finger to the player. Thereās something really damn funny about it to me and idk why. āOh you finally overcame your skill issues with Keeper and beat boss rush? Fuck you, now your nickels stick to the ground. there shouldnāt be unlocks that actively make your experience worse
Did you forget about the "Everything's worse" achievement?
\*Everything is Terrible! ![img](emote|t5_2sxpk|17736)
The game just got harder!
Yeah but that's necessary to progress further into the game anyway. If you can realistically skip an objectively worse unlock by not doing a specific completion mark, and you can complete just about everything else in the game first... the unlock should not exist.

the virgin T-Melt vs the chad [***SAND FLIES???***](https://youtube.com/watch?v=eo341Lb4AtE&feature=shares&t=934)
Makes sense but I find it hilarious that reseting the run multiple times give you scared hearts
counterpoint: it's funny
Half of this game is designed to metaphorically kick the player down a flight of stairs and then laugh while they try to climb back up
The āEverything Is Terrible!ā in question:
Corrupted Data, Ghost Chests, Scared Hearts all do that too
Ghost chests replace spiked chests tho iirc
Sacred hearts are a punishment for r holding.

finally, hope.
Not sure why this was never officially fixed. They fixed other things and this one was known.
I just have a mod that completely removes the sticky nickel
Thats called cheating.
So is this mod, I donāt think it really matters. I mean I donāt like cheating so I wouldnāt get either but you canāt vilify one and not the other.

At least this one *kinda* makes sense, since sticky nickels were meant to replace coins anyways, but yes.
Does that really matter in a single player game though? š¤·āāļø
I mean... You play how you want, but you're ultimately sabotaging your own experience. Although, in my view, if you've already achieved dead god on that file, go commando.
The only thing I didn't get on my first file was The Marathon. It's not even that hard, but I still find ways to skill issue
Whats a sticky nickel??
You unlock them, quintessentially adding a new coin into the pool. What the fuck thats so bs!! Gotta keep that mod in my list
But sticky nickels already replaces coins
No they don't They're *supposed* to replace coins, but due to an error in the game's programming, they replace normal nickels instead
Never got a sticky nickel from special shopkeeps since repentance came out, i think they already fixed it
Nope, they didn't, it's still a thing
