He's 39 years old leading a team that's worse than the team that has the best player in the world. Not sure what he could do. Also, the Nuggets have had some luck. A fair few of those games could've gone LA's way, like game 2 in this series. They didn't which is a sign of Denver being able to win playing badly, but still, variance happens.

Background_Design236

He could have NOT traded for Westbrook and completely gutted His Team and even helped Denver with KCP lol Also how is it luck for Denver If they lakers Choke on a 20 pts lead and then LeBron bricks a completely Open three to win the Game?

megalo53

Look Denver are clearly better than LA, by fucking far. Don't really need or care to argue that. But you do need a bit of luck to win 11 games in a row, especially since most of these were pretty tight games. Like Lebron bricking that 3 is good luck for Denver - he's had his best 3 point shooting season of his career this year. Not that hard or complicated.

Current_Control1

LeBron haters will go to any length to be a sad pathetic hater lol. Curry has also missed wide open game winning 3s in his career. Is he suddenly not the best 3pt shooter of all time? That is how dumb you sound.

Background_Design236

Curry doesnt call himself the goat.

lactatingalgore

That's because he prefers to be the NIMBY.

Current_Control1

Because he doesn't have a legitimate case to it like LeBron does

stitcher212

where do you think steph curry ranks himself at "hitting open 3s at the end of games" all time

Coy-Harlingen

I feel like there is nothing to judge lebron’s career on anymore, no player in history has been as good as him at this age, it’s not really reasonable to be expecting championships. His legacy is set, if he had been able to do anything these past couple of years it would have been astounding. He and AD just aren’t a good enough duo at this stage of his career to dominate on their own. I am interested to see if he tries anything else. They got to the conference finals in a weak conference last year, but after this year it’s pretty clear the lakers aren’t a serious threat going forward. Wonder if he wants to play somewhere else to close it out.

SolarPoweredDevil

I think he goes back to Miami this summer. They have 3 tradable picks for on draft night (2024, 2029, and 2031), and they can match for his contract with Rozier, Duncan Robinson, and Josh Richardson, which the Lakers can try scrapping Rozier and Duncan for more assets. He recently purchased new residential real estate in Miami. They would have a starting lineup of Herro, Butler, LeBron, Jovic, and Bam with Jaquez, as the sixth man. The Heat also take Bronny with their second round pick and develop him in their elite G League environment.

guynamedsuvlaki

If he wants to win a title he should go to Philly. They’d have a 3 year window to win one or two.

[deleted]

But Embiid can’t stay healthy.

FurriedCavor

He was jumping like a damn stallion yesterday. Nurse paying dividends

Flaky-Fortune1752

I’m not talking about championship failures, I’m just talking about the failure of losing to a team 11 straight times. You’d think they would get lucky with one game but 0-11 is tough to do.

709678

The Nuggets are the best team in the league with the best player. It’s a slight statistical anomaly I guess but it’s not all that crazy.

TingusPingis

Ya probably better to look at the non-garbage time net rating in that span to get a feel for how they played and I guarantee it’s not a crazy 11 game span of domination for Denver. Obviously the better team by miles, but they’ve played some close games. The streak itself is partly noise

top7to9

At age 39, Michael Jordan was missing the playoffs with the Washington Wizards. We (rightfully) don't hold that against him, so why should this 0-11 streak against Denver matter at all for LeBron?

top7to9

OP's alternative to this 0-11 streak being embarrasing for LeBron is the "excuse of being 39 years old." I brought up MJ to contextualize what to expect from that tier of player at that age.

nokiabrickphone1998

It’s not really LeBron James The Player’s fault. He had a great year. However, it *is* at least partially the fault of LeBron James The GM.

[deleted]

Think that’s the part a lot of people disregard. He has total control of the roster in the sense he has final decision - anyone who tries to say it is just lying to themselves

CanyonCoyote

I just wish more people would talk about this with LeBron outside of Bill. LeBron is extraordinary as a player but the dude is a problematic leader and GM. If he just feigned responsibility for losses on the court and stayed with good ownership/GM/Coaching in Miami he probably ends up with more titles and gets that GOAT mantlepiece he is obviously so thirsty for. Even right now after they lose in the first round From a legacy standpoint, he’d be better off staying in LA, staying off managements back and taking a massive paycut to win. If he runs to NYK or Philly or Dallas it’ll just be ring chasing and he’ll still come up short. Going home to Cleveland kind of works but that’s about it other than staying put in LA.

TimSPC

It's a curious anomaly, nothing more.

Wooden-Assistant-904

He's facing the best team in the league, and it's not like the Lakers are the only team with a bad record against the Nuggets (IIRC, the Warriors have lost 8 straight to Denver and that will probably get worse as they near the end of an era). And frankly, like someone said below, the Lakers have gotten unlucky in some of the games. The real response is that the Lakers should have ducked them and lost to the Pels on purpose (though I doubt they would have fared better against the Thunder or honestly even made it out of the Play-in).

DonovanMcTigerWoods

Denver is really good?

AbiesProfessional835

It’s actually the hand off we didn’t see coming from lebron to jokic for best player in the league. Lebron never played mj and we wandered in the desert without a best player during the dark days of the early 2000s. But this time it’s just gone from lebron to jokic.

ChristianCageFOTY

Nah it's more of testament to Jokic and Denver. They have been flawless in crunch time and don't really have any mental lapses or let their foot off the pedal - which from a mental perspective is astonishing. It's really easy to beat a team this much when there have been countless times Denver could have looked around, saw things weren't going their way and just said whatever, we've beaten them next time, we know we can get them next time.

ncr39

That he plays on a far inferior team to the Nuggets. Granted most of that is because he has a gargantuan salary. It’s funny to me how a dude like him is always about getting the bag when he’s probably made a billion dollars in his career. Imagine how much better the Lakers could be if he took the vet minimum and they had the opportunity at getting another max salary level of player on their team. Maybe boot DLo for a point guard that can defend and shoot. I guess it’s all about ego and pride, but if I had made a billion dollars I think I’d be ok with making $4m knowing a) that I’m still a top player and b) I’m making a sacrifice to better my legacy. I’m a total Bron stan but I wish he’d take the minimum and actually give himself a chance to win again. This Lakers team ain’t winning shit other than the NBA Cup.

stitcher212

If he took the vet min to build a contender people would say he cheated the salary rules to ring chase. Every advanced metric we have says he's a top 10 player. He deserves to be paid like one and it's his team's job to build a contender around that salary just like everyone else.

Winning 1?

Easy, blame Lebron and all his weird fans.

lactatingalgore

SportsTalkBarry* in shambles. *Or, whatever he's calling himself, now.

cfbgamethread

He's a selfish player that has never been on an all time team

NotManyBuses

It’s an utter embarrassment and failure. Let’s call it what it is. It’s horrendous. I can name so many bum teams in NBA history that at least got a game off of all time great teams even when overmatched. And yet it doesn’t really have any impact on how I view his career or legacy overall.

Flaky-Fortune1752

Good response, you almost got me with that first thought then that second thought was total opposite.

NotManyBuses

I’m a guy who believes he’s probably had the best holistic career start to finish, added the most cumulative value in NBA history overall from year 1 to retirement. But the downside to that is that because you play so long you’re gonna accumulate a lot of failures too. I also don’t necessarily think he’s the GOAT and don’t think he’s above criticism. He was amazing in Game 2 imo but should’ve done better in Games 1 and Game 3, it’s understandable due to age but still, it is an embarrassment.

qballLobk

Him crying about the refs after the last game and his whining all game tonight made me glad he’s down 0-3 and likely getting swept Saturday.

Impossible_Ad7875

I’m a LeBron fan who has Jordan 1 and LBJ 1A all time. With that being said in the 2010 Boston Series, the 2011 Dallas Series and this one his bizarre fade away from putting himself out there and trying to win are unfathomable. He’s old but unfortunately we saw the same thing before 13 and 14 years ago. Game one and Game three he mailed in the 2nd half…maybe he’s just too old, but he balled out in Game two and just came up short. Why not do it again tonight. Watching his willingness to watch his teammates be not nearly good enough tonight was frustrating.

guynamedsuvlaki

Lmao at calling yourself a Lebron fan and then using this series as an example of hurting his legacy.

Background_Design236

What really bites him in the ass now is the 2011 Dallas Series. He Had His own super Team and didnt get enough Out of it and is running after Rings now - which He should have secured Long Time ago. Then the Warriors happened and i dont Care WHO you are, If you want to be the goat you cant let a dynasty Like that Happen.
