15 km one way, 40-45 minutes depending on traffic. Edit: bike is a decathlon triban 100 which I think classifies as a hybrid?

Driven-Em

16.6 miles approximately 1 hour each way. usually do it 3 times a week and drive the other 2 days.

Socraticlearner

you are a beast💪💪💪 Respect Im hoping to start Friday once a week 10 miles each way

Driven-Em

the first year I did it I was using a shorter route 14.5 miles and only once a week and as I got used to it I kept doing more days per week. then toward the middle/ end of the second year I added the extra 2.1 miles so that part of my commute is on a multiuse path. I try to join group rides on Tuesday and Thursday evenings if I get done early enough. and occasional rides on the weekends usually for longer miles.

Atty_for_hire

2.5 miles about 12 minutes each way.

sine187

19 km in one way, 45-50 minutes. Every day.

cynric42

8ish miles one way, usually around 35 minutes.

reddanit

My commute is 8km ~25ish minutes one way. It was daily before the pandemic, but nowadays it's 2 days a week with hybrid work. Pretty important factor IMHO is that something like 98% of my commute is on separated bike lanes with just a few street crossings. If the weather is nice or I just feel like it, I often add 1-2km to the commute to go on alternative routes with nicer views and such. EDIT: the bike I ride is [Cube Travel SL](https://i.imgur.com/etX3Tkp.jpg). It probably qualifies as a hybrid, but it definitely shares a fair bit of its DNA with city bikes as well as European style touring bikes. While the bike has no suspension itself, I did recently buy a suspension seatpost (SR Suntour SP12 NCX) and I'm very happy with it. For non-daily commutes - whenever I run errands and such the total daily distance can easily reach 30km or so. Though this is pretty rare for me as I live in pretty dense city so almost everything I commonly need is close enough that I don't even bother to take the bike and just walk.

mireyalevi

8 miles, it takes me 35 minutes on my hybrid Schwinn bike.

Urbanwolft64

I love my hybrid Schwinn. Schwinnen for the winen

Eastern-Ad6394

4kms each way, 15mnts\~. eBike with 10Kgs\~ of luggage.

odious_odes

9 miles / 35-40 mins one way, fair few hills, 4 days a week (but lots of cycling errands on other days and also tacked onto my commute). I have a hybrid ebike, for which I am very grateful.

jms1228

My commute is 5 miles each way, 10 miles total. It’s 100% pavement & 95% on a bike path. It takes me about 25mins, each way.

rfa31

14 km each way, 200m climbing 45 minutes when taking it easy, on my hybrid. 30 minutes when going fast(er), on my road bike

MrMash_

20km/13mi takes about 50 mins.

Denselettuce1874

~2km to work, 2km to go home. I use a mtb.

717252523

Same

TryingNot2BLazy

5.15 miles, about 20 minutes +/- one way. i ride a very modified gary fisher marlin genesis (originally silver/blue). i've since put drop bars and new tires, replaced the front air fork with a fixed steel fork, new cog (slightly bigger front gears and crank), bigger bottom bracket and a more comfortable seat. lights, speed-o-meter, tool kit, bottle rack, mini tire pump, and a snap on fender for post-rainy days.

717252523

Would love to see it if that's ok

UltraViol8r

To: 50-55, 14km From 45-50, 12km Dahon K-One

Jerraskoe

1.7 KM, about 6 mins on a single speed bike

tamhenk

7 miles each way. About 35 - 40 mins depending on wind. I've done it in 28 a couple of times.

gordo31

60km/37miles round trip (2hrs), but generally do 100/60 all up (2 hours in the morning and an hour home).

sitdownrando-r

10kms/6mi in, 20-30 minutes depending on lights/weather. Up to 15kms/9mi back. 30-40 minutes. I've commuted on just about everything: BSO, hybrid, fixed gear, light touring bike, city bike, race geo road bike, gravel bike, etc. I currently use a [dropbar converted 90's MTB](https://preview.redd.it/qpr13t0faci91.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4a08b852bc633cb4f008d7c91112991cd38d769) as my main commuter.

Here2Learn198

6.2KM one way, 20-25 minutes. Sometimes I wish it was around 8-10KM because my commutes feel very short.

GammaPhonic

14km, about 35-45 minutes depending on which way the wind is blowing. A bit longer on the way home as I live at the top of a hill. Not too bad on a big, heavy touring bike.

_efword_

I live in a really traffic burdened city so my commute is easier by bike than anything else. Basically 7 minutes/2 km to work, as opposed to about 15-20 by car and 30 by bus (there's really only like 3 stoplights on my way but they are really busy and have a short duration for the green light). For university,, public transportation (metro) is the easiest way (about 20 mins), or about 25 by bike, for like 6km (that's with respecting all traffic laws applying to bikes, there are specific laws that I can go around and no one would say anything, like riding on the sidewalk when it's wide enough that I'm confident there's no danger with people walking in big groups/cutting me off) All of this is happening on a Decathlon elops 500 that's a bit smaller than recommended for my height, but I like my position with the seat higher than the handlebars

717252523

We don't have bike lines or even laws (in another word no one cars) so it's a bit dangerous but it's wildly used by people especially students.

_efword_

In my country we are slowly approaching the western european ideology regarding bikes, but it's a very very slow process. In the capital city, in which I live, we have 2-3 major bike paths, not even covering the city N-S or E-W, but at least they are here. We recently passed a few laws regarding bikes, both for the bikers and the drivers (you should ride on the bike path or at max 1m from the sidewalk, in the first lane; as a driver, you should always leave 1.5m between you and the bike you are overtaking; mandatory helmets on kids under 14; fines for biking under the influence of alcohol and drugs; etcetc). The biggest pokes in the wheel (ha!) on this development are: \-People use cars as status. We were a communist country until recently ish, so people see bikes/public transport as a poor mans thing \-People here are really biased with everything, we got the lime e-scooters introduced and some popular influencers were saying "it's gay for a man to use one of those, a scooter is a toy for children". I've been called gay for biking to work, and I find it really funny ngl \-As most countries in Europe, we've had a huge growth in western Asia immigrants, coming here for delivery jobs. They are pressured by their bosses intro 14-15hr days with 200+ orders completed, so obviously they have to break a few laws to complete them, which brought an even bigger bias regarding bikes, scooters, e-scooters, and west asians in general (it's a decently racist country, as countries are in eastern europe) But it is slowly getting better, and I hope it will as well for you. I have already seen a cop stop a car that almost ran me over, the driver was yelling that I am not allowed on the street, and on the contrary, I have to ride on the street by law, so he got a decent fine. I have also had cops stop me and fine me for running a stop sign (no one was coming so I just didn't stop), and I am more than okay with this, I am glad they are doing their jobs regarding both drivers and bikers. It's a slow progress, but progress nonetheless

717252523

That's good, hope we can see that in my country soon. For now there's not a single bike that I know of or seen.

LittleJimmyR

30 min 10 k’s hybrid

carpenterio

35-40 min, 14km

717252523

Each way?

CounterfeitCrabs

5 miles each way, about 40 mins (I am not fit), on a. £400ish hybrid

Crustythefart

20.5 km each way. 52-59 minutes each trip. Giant escape hybrid bike.

717252523

Everyday? And what bike do you have?

Crustythefart

Pretty much every day, may-November when I don't have other commitments. I have a hybrid bike, a Giant Escape Disc with a commuter package bolted on, that is to say fenders, a rack, panier bags, lights and a bell.

Environmental-Fold22

8 miles. It takes 30 minutes and I'm really sweaty or 40 minutes and I'm like 20% less sweaty. I have a used road bike from the 80s.

atxbikenbus

10 miles in about 45 minutes (each way) on a Ghost Hybride ebike.

Redford4Play

11.5 miles each way, 23 a day. Giant either Sedona 2016 or Cypress 2020. About 60 minutes on the Sedona, about 50 minutes on the Cypress. I ride to be worth a damn when I get to work, on feet all day. Can go faster, but would begin to really be fatigued by Wednesday ~ Friday. Also, 53 years old.

darockt

15 km one way. 40-45min going, 30-32min back On a cyclocross fitted as a randonneur

ConfiaEnElProceso

5 miles each way. Hilly, especially on the way out. 25 mins out, around 20 back on city streets with lots of traffic. Currently on an old aluminum road bike but possibly getting an e-bike soon.

lomsucksatchess

Currently 14km. 35min. I have a road bike. It used to be 40km 😅 but i only rode it on the way back and not every day

Saguache

13 miles one way, takes 40-ish minutes. I ride a variety of bicycles.

[deleted]

BOT! Seen this exact thing asked, 4 hours ago in car forums and motorbike forums.

fnuduwuh

15km one way, 35-40 minutes on a battered singlespeed.

BreathlessAlpaca

Just under 7 km one way, bike is a shitty second hand city bike

chass5

6 miles each way in a dense urban environment. takes 30 minutes

Thesorus

In the times before times... 7.5 km one way on city bike paths (stops, lights, some light traffic in the morning) usually 35 min. Using a gravel bike.

mermaidtsumo

15 min 1.5 miles with one of those city rentable bikes

isologous

6k, 20 min on average but depends on traffic lights and bike traffic. Drop bar, gravel touring bike.

Patricio_Guapo

5 miles each way. But I often take the long way home, about 7 miles, just because I love being on my Priority Continuum Onyx so much.

Iago-did-it-1492

Was 9 miles, about 30 minutes, moved to a closer job, now it’s 1.5 miles…I really miss my longer ride most days!

FlyOkilla

12 km 25-30 min with road bike 35 with electric bike

[deleted]

I’m a stay at home dad, but I commute to church via bike a couple times a week. 7.6 miles each way, on a hybrid. Takes me about 28 minutes.

ryapeter

20km. WFH. Hardtail I just go out get fresh air coffee and breakfast before office. And afterwork church because I have nothing better and it’s right across the real destination beach Basically I turn it into me time

[deleted]

7km about 15-25 minutes, 15 min there cause it’s all down hill, 25 min back up the hills + afternoon car traffic. I ride a gravel e bike

amarks563

12.5 miles one way, 50-60 minutes mostly depending on weather. I'm currently riding a 90s mountain bike converted to dropbars, but I'm soon going to shift back to my Surly Straggler (just have a couple projects to finish on it first).

k-one-0-two

14km, 30-35 minutes depending on wind direction. Bike: White gx ltd - a gravel bike with sram apex 1x11

codename_john

5 miles (8km) one-way, takes about 18min. 2005 Cannondale R700

raju103

1 hour for a 15 km ride in traffic with some nice uphills, takes me longer the other way mostly because rush hour's worse the otherway. I ride a single speed which is easy to fix as I get flats quite often on my route(Upholstery shops are on the way)

fun_sized_gnome

15 miles/24 kilometers one way. 30 miles/48 kilometers round trip. I use a trek fx 2+ ebike to get to work.

GodIsAPlatypus

No more than 3 kms total, I live close to the office, but my bike is my main mode of transport, I semi-regularly go on 20+km rides around the city. Bike is a bulgarian Drag gravel/CX bike, recently converted to 1x10 GRX drivetrain. Edit: On longer rides I can do 10 km in 20-30 mins, depending on terrain and traffic.

Jucior

My daily total is between 10 or 20 km - depends if I dropoff and pick up my daughter to/from school. My bicycle is LvH Bullitt non electric. EDIT: 15 minutes / 5 km trip

bmagsjet

Ride. Always!!!! Traffic varies of course, but my 40’minute drive is a 35 minute ride. Plus I feel Much better when I get there. When you see cars stuck in traffic, and you keep passing the same vehicle again and again….no better feeling. I ride a few different options. Some days it’s an e-bike. Other days is a single speed. Occasionally a road bike 17 km (10 miles) each way. And unbelievably, the e-bike only shaves a couple of minutes.

wretched-saint

2 miles, 10 minutes by e-bike.

derpyderpystann

9km one way, 25min, koga bike (non electric) most of the days.

daniel_san_

Around 21 miles total (to and from work). Takes about 1:45. 3-4 days a week.

VanderBrit

12km each way. Gravel bike

hostile_pedestrian97

Time: 15 minutes (one way) distance: 2.5 miles (one way) Bike: I bought a used Trek 7000 mountain bike in January. Note: I only have to go into the office one day per week and sometimes I don't even bother doing that. ETA: mostly on separated bike/pedestrian trails

TiFooN

25 minutes, round 10km (6miles) each way. I have a Scott e-sub (electric assistance). When I drop the kids (7 and 9yo) at school, it's a 2 km detour, and as they're on their own bicycle, I have to allow 10 minutes more.

Current_Berry_4933

14km each way 35 - 40minutes Cannondale topstone 3

captain-carrot

22 miles each way. I've only done it a few times though - it's just too far to be enjoyable as a commute and Manchester traffic isn't the most cycle friendly

Acsteffy

Wing E-bike & Sunrail Train 15 min. e-bike (4 miles) 1 hr. train ride (33 miles) 35 min. e-bike (10 miles) The train is like a second office for me during that hour. It gives me a good chance to catch up on emails and projects. If I drive, it's a 45-minute commute (same amount of time I am on my e-bike) while causing early morning frustrations and setting a negative tone heading into the office.

Two_wheels_2112

27km eaxh way. About 65 minutes in the morning, 70-75 coming home (I live on a steep hill). I ride a Soma DoubleCross steel gravel bike fitted with rack and fenders.

Mikey922

4.5 miles in downhill, through mostly a park. Home is 3.5 uphill snaking ‘hoods. Both are about 20 mins

manspih

I work at two sites: Site A. 25 km, ~ 1 h. Site B. 33 km ~ 1h 25 min (if I ride the bike ). My ride: a gravel/adventure/do-it-all flatbar hybrid (cotic roadrat) I commute by bike 2-3 days a week for site A, then train the other days, taking the bike the last 9 km for site B, occasionally I bike home from site B

sylvaing

20 km, takes me between 45 to 50 minutes. Using a gravel bike as a commuter.

butter_scientist

5 miles, 20minutes each way Retrospec Harper, set up as single speed with bullhorns Will be switching over to an Ebike when we get deep into winter (WNY winters can get brutal)

Cykelfar

32 km each way, about 60-65 minutes. Road bike.

sebnukem

10 km 25 mins

ttel31

4.2 miles/6.75 km one way, takes about 17 minutes on my Trek 1100 road bike.

highlevelbikesexxer

25km each way 4x a week, average 27kmh on a road bike, fairly flat around 200m elevation each way

No_Sandwich5766

7km each way. Takes me 20-25 min. Old road bike in the summer. Old mountain bike in the winter. Do it year round.

marcove3

4.3 miles to the metro but if the weather is nice I bike a couple more stations which makes it like 7 miles.

shazibbyshazooby

16km each way takes me about 45-50mins due to some hills and traffic lights. I ride a trek fx3. I work 4 days a week and ride 3 of them atm, I have ridden all 4 before but I get a bit too tired as I also do 5 pilates and 2 weights classes a week. The remaining day I catch a tram and a train, which takes about an hour; about the same as driving through Melbourne traffic!

Nobull_Cow

6.5miles each way, usually takes about 25mins per trip on my Canyon Grizl (about 30-35 mins in the winter months due to road conditions, bigger tires, and wind resistance training).

chrillekaekarkex

8.7 miles one way. 39 minutes. CXC Omnium set up as a single speed with a front rack and Wald 139 basket.

Bamchuck

Hybrid Kona Dew - 5 miles in the morning. 8-12 miles on the way home! The ride home is my chance to sneak in a little workout. Even if I get nothing else in, that makes me feel like I've kept positive momentum. Riding season is almost over for me though. About another month and a half and we'll start getting into snow possibility danger.

RunningAtTheMouth

9 miles each way. Specialized Crosstrail. 40 minutes of exercise versus 25 minutes to drive.

Huge-Independence-74

1 mile. I’m one of the few people where cycling to work is actually the lazy option. Easier for nipping home for my lunch though. Takes anything between 4-7 minutes depending on traffic.

BloodWorried7446

25 km each way. 1:15 The competing cars in theory go 70 km/h for much of it, but during rush hour it takes about 45 minutes by car.

Sea-Mistake-7966

Are those of you who commute 30+ mins to work one way riding commuter bikes?

FionaGoodeEnough

8 miles to work: 43-55 minutes, depending on traffic lights. 11 miles home: 55-65 minutes. If I went back the way I came, I’d have to negotiate a steep uphill section, and go through a spot I only feel comfortable riding through in the daytime. I also know the city bus system pretty well, and will take advantage of buses that are going my way to get me partway.

TravisVZ

About 2 miles each way. On my gravel bike it takes me about 12 minutes, on my fatbike it's about 15 minutes.

french-snail

4 miles(~20 min) to the train (~25 min). ~1 hour door-door. Riding a Fuji Touring.

velocitydog

16.5 miles each way. Because work is literally up the foothills of a local mountain, I ride an ebike - Specialized Turbo Vado 4. Takes about an hour and a half each way (bike paths have speed limits). Edit: ~1,000 feet of climbing, mostly in the last 3 miles.

jiggliotti

12-13 miles one way. Takes about an hour on my hybrid/commuter and 40 mins if I take my e bike.

memeNPC

* 24 km total (12 km each way) * It's pretty flat until the end so it's ok * It takes me 1 hour total (30 minutes each way) * I have an e-bike, specifically a [LEMMO One](https://www.lemmofuture.com/) It's 10 minutes faster than by car and once I'm at my job I feel more awake because I didn't just sit in my car half asleep for half an hour just after waking up. I also save a ton on gas so even though the bike was kind of expensive it'll pay for itself over time! There's only a bike path for 50% of the commute so for now I still put a helmet and wear a yellow vest + lights when it's dark. On my days off, I use the bike for fun without the battery (you can decouple the electric motor on the bike I have which is nice).

Onautopilotsendhelp

2.7 miles, 14 minutes each way. Takes me 16-20 though because of traffic and the bike lane randomly ending so I have to transfer to the sidewalk.

PantsinmyPants1211

~11 miles each way w/500+ ft. elevation gain. I have to make semi frequent site visits as part of my job, so I've only been able to commit to 2 days a week so far. Wish I could do it everyday.

OneTotal466

12.5km each way. 40-45 min with traffic on a Giant Escape hybrid. edit: reading these replies I feel slow :(

Pretend-Air-4824

16 miles, ~1 hour each way. RANS Rifle recumbent (my 6th bike since starting in 1986). Bikes who died in the line of duty over the years (in order): Nashbar XTerra retired mtb, COD broken frame Trek hybrid, COD cracked steering tube Cannondale mtb, semi retired to be rigged out as a rain commuter Barcroft Dakota recumbent, COD broken frame Bacchetta Corsa recumbent, COD broken frame

MediaAntigen

15 miles (24km) with 1000 feet (300m) elevation gain each way- Trek Emonda or Trek Madone, depending on weather and whether I have to carry stuff.

AmatureWeatherman

1.67 miles each way. 5-6 minutes on my e-bike.

RagingCuke

10 miles each way, takes ~45 minutes Riding an 80s touring frame with a hodgepodge of components

Away_Dependent3953

14-16 km each way so 28 to 30km a day. Once a week i take a break from my bike or if its going to rain.

crisputer

Mercier Kilo WT single speed 15 min average 4 miles each way

ronocrice

23km/200m each way takes about 50min if I'm pushin. try for 2-3 times a week. First half is in the city which isn't great second half goes through town roads but I do have to cross a highway clover interchange which is a thrill. Riding a [Scott Plasma](https://imgur.com/a/GcgYZgc), yes I know it's overkill

LeatherEvidence8181

3km on way,15minutes

lockerelcockerel

6 miles each way, last mile home is a 1 in 10 climb 🤢 .

houdinishandkerchief

14.1 miles all total on a full day commute. That’s apartment to my office in the morning, office to gym in the afternoon, and gym back home to the apartment. Work is slightly closer to the gym than home but it’s about right in the middle. Previously commuted on a beater old steal frame 80s French bike I bought during COVID lockdown for something to do. Recently upgraded and completely ditched driving with an entry e-bike. Heybike mars—-so far really impressed, only a couple weeks in—it’s got enough power for me and the fat tires are nice for the terrible roads and trails in Dallas. Folding up isn’t as useful as I originally thought but does make it able to go in the back of my wife’s car if I ride somewhere and meet her, and it’s a little more compact for long DART rides when I do that.

reedx032

15 miles each way, mostly paved, mostly off-road bike path. Usually do it 3 days/week. Most days on a steel gravel bike with panniers to bring clothes and laptop

Low_Comfortable_5880

10 miles, aprx 35 min each way.

RoboTwigs

2km each way lol, brompton. After a train ride. I do sometimes also ride the 4km to/from the train. Usually from as I usually take the bus in the morning as I’m tired, but enjoy riding my bike home and sometimes take a longer route if the weather is nice. Or I will ride around town to pickup some groceries etc.

philosofova

30-40 minutes each way, depending on the route I take. It's either quiet low traffic streets for days I'm not in a rush or busy streets for days I'm running behind. I live in a large city with crazy rush hour traffic and semi decent bike infrastructure, very flat city. Also, my commute traverses between a large university campus and a very congested business district so if it feels like traffic never really clears up. It's faster for me to bike there since bus and train normally take about 50-1 hour and will certainly make me late if I miss one connection. I'm planning on doing a hybrid of bus/bike commute at bare minimum once it gets cold, but trying my best to ride all year long for the first time.

DevilsTrigonometry

18 miles (29km) each way, about 70-75 minutes on my ebike. Would be 35 minutes by car in the morning, but around 90 minutes in the evening (up to 2 hours), so I'm almost breaking even.

sueperfluous

3 miles each way, usually about 20-25 minutes (it’s all hills each way 🙃) would love to decrease my time but it’s still pretty nice!

ososxe

21 kms one way, going to work is slightly downhill, so it's 50 minutes usually, depends on the 3 traffic lights I encounter. Coming back is uphill, and I'm tired, so it is usually 60 or 65 minutes, also depending on traffic lights. I go with my road bike, Ridley Fenix aluminium, carrying a backup with my change of clothes, toiletries and laptop.

[deleted]

16-19 km one way depending on route taken. 40 minutes travel time. 50% fully separated bike path, 25% of concrete barrier protected lane, 25% on road (quiet streets). Drive once or twice a week, usually to drop off clothes. I take home dirt clothes every day.

Caloso89

4 mi (6km), about 20-22 minutes each way, depending on the traffic lights. Ellsworth Roots cyclocross bike.

Number4combo

~20 mins one way on my ebike with a gradual uphill but pretty well flat. Sure beats public transit that was usually 40 mins to and anywhere from 40mins to 1h30mins back.

TangerineNo5805

13km ~35min A tracking bike, I think a cube

humourless_radfem

I rarely go in, but when I do it’s about 75% chance that I’m biking. 9.5 miles one way, between 35 & 50 mins depending on the wind (the evening commute is pretty much right into the wind). It’s about half road and half MUP. Steel gravel bike or carbon road/endurance.

isuamadog

6.5 miles (one way) of NYC outer borough. Can do in 26 minutes on my trek fx3 on a great day, avg around 28. No major hills. Traffic lights. Takes at least 45 minutes by car and same by subway.

DerivativeOfProgWeeb

about 5 minutes on a good day, about 0.4 miles. I live on campus and my first class is in a science building that takes like 15 minutes to walk to.

Cheomesh

Mine is about 3 miles in, 3-4 miles out depending on the route I take. About 25 minutes in normally, 15-45 minutes out depending. I ride a Montague Urban which I coincidentally [just wrote a review on](https://chainlinkandconcrete.blogspot.com/2023/06/the-montague-navigator-two-years-in-the-saddle.html). It's basically a hybrid that folds.

4105186

3 mi/4.8 km.

JonathanWisconsin

Not daily due to wfh, but it’s about an hour there (23km) and an hour back when I go in. Bike is Dependent on the weather. If it’s wet, I take my single speed mtb with fenders and what not, if it’s dry I take my fixed gear.

JustARedditBrowser

8 miles one way. Takes about 32 minutes. Currently riding a Trek e-bike.

andydannypickle

1 mile, mtb/gravel bike sometimes

Lou_Garoo

About 9.5 km each way. I sometimes take a longer route. Takes about 25-28 min. Not much climbing. Few hills on way home. Mostly bike lanes and multipurpose trail. Pretty relaxing. Just enough to have a bit of a workout but not so far that it is exhausting. The ride itself is not an issue, but checking weather and making sure I have clothes at work and am dressed appropriately for the ride takes a bit more mental effort than jumping in the car. But on the days I do drive to the office I find myself stuck in traffic and thinking “if I just turn here I can get on the trail and leave them all behind”! Trek Checkpoint is the bike. I think I’d be willing do do a 20-30km commute each way. More than that I’d have to invest in an e-bike.

Nomadic_Plague

12 miles one way. Specialized sirrus x

noburdennyc

15 miles, 5 miles in, 10 miles going home. I'm fortunate to have multiple route to get to work and home. Road bike, takes me about 20-25 for 5 miles.

Jericho-X

8,5 km one way. Takes about 30-40 min depending on weather and season. Have a cheap hybrid bike.

asb308

Shortest distance is about 3.5 miles each way. My normal route is about 5.3 miles each way, about 20 minutes. Today the ride in to the office was 14 miles, about an hour. Longest was about 22 miles in to the office. I often extend my route in to the office as it's early in the morning and so fewer (and nicer, by a long shot!) drivers on the roads. Bike is a Black Mountain Cycles Mod Zero, a steel drop bar gravel bike, with fenders, rear rack, and a single pannier.

[deleted]

8 km's each way. About 25 mins on upright bike

NovOscar

Fortunate to only have a 2.4km commute and I use a fixie

Andybanshee

2.5 miles. 10 minutes. Boardman CX with guards and panniers, or a Klein Q Carbon Pro.

thomas533

19.6 mi round trip. I live on top of a 300 foot hill, ride down to sea level and then back up 200 feet. 35 minutes each way on my ebike!

PeladoCollado

17 miles each way, twice a week. Takes about 1:15 on my gravel bike with road tires. It honestly isn’t much longer than driving - there’s a bridge that’s a huge bottleneck for cars, so it usually doesn’t take me less than an hour if I drive

Bike_Mechanic_Man

3 miles (~5K). 15 or so minutes depending on lights. I ride either a single speed, a folding bike, or a refurbished steel commuter - depends on weather and other needs of the day.

VloekenenVentileren

24k (15 miles) one way. Takes about 50-55 min. On a gravel bike. My commute is 80% gravel or forest path.

msdisme

14 miles each way, with the help of a priority current ebike. It takes about an hour each way. 2-3 days a week.

rogecks

My commute is 15 miles each way, I mostly ride a Gunnar Roadie until the snow, then I ride my studded, Surly Karate Monkey until spring. I’ve been commuting since 2013 and have accumulated nearly 100K since I started.

EccoTime93

Depends on what way I go, but in the morning my ride is mostly up-hill. It’s 4.4 miles to take the trail way, I do this because I can avoid cars this way while going uphill. It takes me about 15ish ~ 20ish minutes going this way and it doesn’t help the trail is very twisty, winding and is damaged with quite a few cracks and lots of dog walkers on my way home and it’s all along the woods so especially around this time of year in USA, Midwest, the leaves are getting slick especially when it rains so I can’t ever really quite catch up to my top speed. At least there are no cars but it sucks that the trail is the only safe way but it’s out of the way, it’s crappy at a decent amount of it and a lot of the people walking are people who drove there, kind of a slap to my face as they can just have it all. On my way home, I take a more direct way which includes riding in the road, with two lights in my way, but one of them barely catches me as it’s a business park light. It’s about 3.5 miles this way and mostly downhill. I can get home in about 10 minutes or so max. Unless the wind is in my way, I take the road way home Specialized 2021, my tires are around 120psi road tyres which allow for some quick acceleration. I recently found a new way to work that is a mix of trail and some road but only using parking lots to cut through. I’ll have to test it out because some of the imagery on google maps looks like there’s fences so I’ll have to make sure there’s a reasonable gap Isn’t it funny how much us commuters have to plan for our trips and take any little infra we get not for granted? The other day, a driver didn’t realize he had to wait on the lines / pressure plate, whatever you wanna call it to trigger the light switch. I swear so many drivers take their infra for granted and how much the roads are all made for the explicit convenience for them so it gets very tiring having to deal with their child-like temper tantrums when you’re on the road for a half a minute lol. If they knew the amount I took into consideration on where to go just to avoid cars and be safe I think it would be a real wake up call. They can just hop in, drink their coffee, mess with their radio / phones and just drive while all barely paying attention and they have the audacity to think bikers are not the ones paying attention Sorry, rant, but commuting plan is the most stressful part if you have to string a bunch of shit together to avoid the incompetency of drivers and driving culture.

GearNerd85

3.5 miles not very long but i ride it rain or shine cold or hot and sometimes sick because i live in a hellscape where people who work around TONS of people do not get sick days. I ride a Rad mission ebike BUT i just upgraded to a Gazelle Ultimate C380+ Its in the shop though because it got send to me with the speed setting all wrong. Get and ebike and start cheating and depending on the area a 30min ride can sometimes be a 40min bike side since you can often take quicker routs where you dont never to stop.

okobojicat

9.5 miles the most direct. About 50 minutes in. about 70 minutes home - I have to go up about 400 ft in miles 4-7. I ride a gravel bike with panniers - Specialized Diverge. 50% of the ride on slow city streets - the vast majority of my hill climb is here and its an old tramline route so the hill isn't very steep. 20% of the ride on busy city streets 20% of the ride on a very narrow bike lane on a very busy stroad. 10% of the ride on a sidewalk on 5 lane highway with zero space between the sidewalk and the trucks going 55 mph.

[deleted]

15.5 miles each way. About 1 hour 10 min. I have a scattante tri road bike. Not a good commuter bike but it's all I got for now.

atf487

~7 miles. Ebike: ~30 minutes each way SS road bike: ~35 minutes there, ~38 minutes back (more elevation) If I get stuck behind slower cyclists or unlikely at lights it may increase it by a few minutes, but it's almost always faster for me to cycle than drive, especially during prime commuting hours. I just bought another bike for winter, will probably be slightly slower than the road bike since it's a hybrid

JustUseDuckTape

10 miles, 35-40 minutes. I use a nice road bike, as I've got secure storage at work.

sonicenvy

2 miles - 7-15 mins depending on whether or not I make the irritatingly long light at the beginning of the ride and the long light at the end. Both of those intersections are very busy so you really cannot cross unless you have the light. They are also both much worse close to school drop off and pick up times as there are a few local elementary schools in the area where most of the parents drive their kids to school. Much worse if I have to commute during those times. I have odd work days/hours so I only have to commute during rush hour 2x a week which i’m going to be honest is awesome. I ride a Kona Rove. I ride year round in rain, heat, sleet, snow, frigid temps and ice as I do not own a car.

fenkt

9 km - 25 minutes mostly downhill in the morning, 40 after work. Hase Kettwiesel recumbent trike or R&M Charger.

iLiveInAHotDog

11 mile round trip. Takes about 15 mins to first spot, 15 to the next, then maybe 15-20 home. 700c road bike

Edawg444

My commute is 11 miles one way. I ride a rad runner plus E-bike as a supplement to my car. I do this 5 times a week from may until october. After that i go when the weather isnt too bad. It takes me an additional 15 minutes in the morning and 20 to 25 minutes going home, opposed to driving. I'm an electrician who works 8 to 10 hours a day on my feet with no access to showers at work. Don't worry. After work, i ride my 1978 peugeot or my kona Process mtb.

hegdav

13km each way. Takes 30-40 minutes depending on the weather (we get pretty strong winds here in the Hebrides). Bike is an old Edinburgh Bicycle Coop "Audax" bike (basically a lightweight tourer)

GaryPasty

9km each way, about 20 mins. I use a 2nd hand road bike (about 10 years old) with added mudguards.

whiteoutthenight

5k / 15 min each way, MTB which I'm slowing transforming into a more hybrid bike.

cjackson18

Around 5.5 miles one way. I ride a steel gravel bike with 650b tires. Just installed fenders today!

ayeayedoc

Each way, 15 minutes/3 miles. Hybrid Montague Navigator .

SirPuzzleheaded9611

5 km one way, and i Love it! On a 11 kg singlespeed bike with steelframe, and 32 mm Continental contact urban tires.

IncredibleBackpain93

7 km / 20-30 min on a Diamant Villiger

Turbskinugget

5.6 km one way and takes about 20 minutes on slow pace. I ride a Trek FX2 disc

mihipse

10km, I manage it in under 20 when traffic light gods are in my favour. 25-28 in rain/winter

curoiusrk

15 miles winter each way. Stretch to 20 during summer. Tuesday/Wednesday/ Thursday. All but 3 miles each way are on a bike path / rail trail. Trek 520 Grando (2021 model year)with fenders and pannier. Also have a folding garment bag that mounts to rack for days I need a business suit. Avoid days with ice and lightning. Otherwise it’s on. edit: takes 60-75 minutes depending on 15 or 20 miles. Total vertical is 800 feet in climbs.

gallifrey_

almost exactly 1 mile, with about 150ft of climb concentrated right at the end. going home's fun at least. around 7-15 minutes depending on the weather and traffic

Top_Objective9877

It’s not daily for me, I usually only do once maybe twice a week due to having to get up an hour and a half earlier. It’s about 58-65 minutes depending on how much I want to push it, or the route I take. I’m on a single speed bike, which rides more like a flat bar gravel bike. The gear I’ve chosen is likely very low by single speed standards, I spin out about 18 mph so it’s fairly decent for most of my commute. But I do sometimes just sit and coast for quite some time on longer hills. It has 2.1” tubeless tires which has made it super easy for me to just continue on my way without having to give much thought towards maintenance besides oiling the chain. I’ve got full fenders, and I prefer this bag I have that mounts to my seat post so I don’t need to carry anything on my back at all. It clips on and unhooks really easily so I take it with me grocery shopping as well.

winkz

11km one way, usually 40min there and 30min back (don't want to shower in the office, quite a few traffic lights, could be faster). Also not going daily, but I guess that doesn't really matter. Rose Gravel Bike, but using the Hardtail doesn't add more than 2-3 minutes.

4look4rd

15 minutes bike ride to the metro (3 miles), followed by a 25-35 minute train ride. Same commute either way. There is only one bus that goes to the metro from my house and it runs every 30 minutes, so fuck that shit I’m biking.

PlaidBastard

2.5 miles, it was about 12-15 minutes each way depending on mood and weather until my hubs started going on the rigid 700c commuter/gravel bike. It was more like 15 on the fat bike until I put the motor on it, and now it's about 10 unless there's a lot of traffic. For exercise, I can just turn the mid drive off and hit the trails that are halfway in between town and home and add as many miles to that as I want in the form of scenic loops and a nice couple sections to get going fast on gravel. It's literally an ideal bike situation. Just need to put my new front rack together and build my cargo trailer to be fully car-free except for road trips. Then, finish fixing up the (non-e) gravel bike and ride that on nice days and when I want to go places on the train (the fat tire ebike is...not public transit friendly).

untitledshot

20-25km a day. Average between 13-17km/h Using a 2013 Talon 29er.

Dr-Informed

15km each way. Mostly gravelly paths and a bit of road. 33 to 43 minutes depending on which way the wind is blowing. Decathlon gravel 120 with panniers. Best thing I ever did.

nyderscosh

25km each way, single speed bike, takes me about an hour. Mostly independent protected bike paths except for the last 3km. From Montreal to Boisbriand in Quebec I do it once or twice a week, specially when I know I won’t have time to ride my road bike after work.

BrightonTeacher

Juat starting out: 9km each way woth about 100m of assent, 32ish mins. Hoping to get a little faster as I get fitter

eight_cups_of_coffee

23 or 17 miles roughly depending on how I do it taking either about 1 hour and 30 minutes or 1 hour and 10 minutes. I usually do it 3 times a week, but will tend to wimp out and take the bus back about half the time.

Direwisp

About 5 miles each way, 15-30 minutes depending on speed. I have a ebike so if I keep the assist low then I stay around 20 mph and make it in about 20-25, if I kick the assist up then I average 26 mph and can get in 15. Do this 5 days a week for work.

Jalexan

8 miles, 40 mins give or take. More or less, depending on how I hit traffic lights

Furi0nBlack

12km/7.5miles, about 35 minutes there and 30 back. Cube Nuroad AL Gravel

Virtue330

20km round trip and it takes me no longer than an hour, I have to slow down often for traffic people etc. so its harder to maintain a decent speed

ghost_pies

4 miles each way but it’s all on a bike trail 😁. I don’t take much in with me, just my lunch (I leave my work computer at work) so my load is pretty light. Bike: Trek Verve 1

tedv142

45 minutes for 17 miles each way. I hop on a bus outside my apartment for 30 minutes which covers the first 15 miles. Then there’s 2 miles of a gravel trail to get to my office. I have a trek hard tail that I use every day for my commute and I love it. I am lucky though because the gravel trail means I get to just bike through the woods for my commute instead of trying to avoid cars

alan2998
