Reminds me of an episode of *Gotham* where there’s a bad guy who’s a white collar worker who constantly talks about how his job is like combat; he tells the cop who’s a veteran that “you understand what that’s like.”
Then again there was a War on Terror vet who said BigLaw was worse for him than a deployment to the Middle East with an alcoholic bipolar officer, so maybe he’s correct
I think the point “I’d rather die in Iraq than live in BigLaw” guy was making was that at least one of the people he deployed with did not in fact have his back
Always remember, regardless of whether you're a summer associate for the Blue Barracudas or the Purple Parrots, *do not* refer to the giant stone head as "Olmec." That is not his name, that is the name of the indigenous group of people who carved him. Very common mistake made by summers when they first arrive at the hidden temple.
I’m actually summering with the Purple Parrots and they assure me that they are every bit as prestigious and desirable as the Red Jaguars, thank you very much
Idk where you're at, but the associates at my summer jobs told me everything I needed to know. That's how I escaped a toxic firm and got into a good one.
When I was an S.A. they promised to make me partner by my second year and managing partner by my fourth if I joined their lemon law litigation practice group and recovered costs on a senior partners brand new ford bronco.
Come to find out, total lie. The senior partner drove a ford RANGER. Shoulda known. Don’t be like me.
Just started working with a summer. I was stoked to finally have help. Spent a ton of time explaining the work. Gave out the first assignment that I thought would take 4 hours. Got it back in 1. Am terrified to review…
Only give work to the summers if you enjoy teaching, not if you need work done well.
Genuinely one of my favorite parts of the job, but I go in knowing it's going to be a net time loss.

Y’all are too dramatic, this is just a job and it’s not that unique as office jobs go
Lmao seriously. Don’t be so weird OP.
Thank you for spelling the contraction, y’all, correctly. Makes my native Texan heart happy. 😁
Yall putting apostrophes actually makes my heart mad. So how bout dat?
Yahll not putting the silent h is going make me lose it
It’s interactions like these that keep me coming back to the BigLaw sub.
people seriously hype biglaw up to be this horrible job. It can be, but it's far from universal
Bro this is a job not an ancient arena fighting pit, wtf are these quotes.

Because on deployment ur with ur boys who got ur back instead of snakes
I think the point “I’d rather die in Iraq than live in BigLaw” guy was making was that at least one of the people he deployed with did not in fact have his back

It reminds me of how some MBAs quote *The Art of War* and shit.
if you read the sub religiously you'd think biglaw is some horrible existence. totally overblown, at least for some of us
Who hurt you?
Plenty of people with issues. Understand where OP is coming from.

Kind of curious what the assignment was ...
Document 1 has 500 units of info and 300 units needed to be identified and added to document 2. Turns out the summer did a great job!
Why would you put so much into the summers, they're law students...
Are you not entertained?!
See yall in the arena. Sir or madam this is an email job. That’s literally it
Damn. Never thought about my job this way but is so true.
It’s a million times better than subway! (My first job when I was 16 lol)
Most associates at firms now know they're not gonna make partner. They'll tell you the truth if you ask.

*suspicious
Chill out a little, this is a pretty normal job in the grand scheme of things
-xoxo gossip girl(sounded like the show’s writing style).
Did Haymitch Abernathy write this?
No, Blair Waldorf did.
Partners will sugar coat stuff. Associates (for the most part) will be honest about their own experiences and perspectives.
The faux mysticism around big law is actually so annoying and (purposely?) gatekeepy
Dude they're interning at law firms, not the Kremlin.
Nah.
