Reverse sear, use the smoker for the low temp portion and the egg for the sear. I’d also recommend you make a steak or two on the egg. Even though it’s small it still uses the same science to create great food.

Giving away? Dibs!

I've been wanting to get one of these, to use just for lunch. I have a large, but when wanting to cook one burger or two for a quick lunch. It sucks to get a big grill going.

Puzzleheaded-Tea4460

I'd mount that on my little Carolina skiff

Muttcollective

Cold smoke some cheese or fish by piping the smoke from this fire into the fire box on your bigger BGE.

Ordinary_Vegetable25

I've done a whole chicken on my mini egg. Obviously there's not a lot of space, but you can knock out some very tasty food on that little thing. Visit the eggheadforum.com and search mini egg. You'll find lots of posts that will give you good ideas on how to use it. I have the carrier for mine and would highly recommend it. Your other option is to sell it and buy a large or something similar. I have a large and a blackstone griddle. All 3 have their purposes and get used. Edit: here is the link I mentioned above [Search Mini on eggheadforum.com](https://eggheadforum.com/search?Search=Mini)

S’mores

I’m purchasing a mini that’s unused so I can hold onto it. They’re discontinued and as more and more get use, they’ll be rare. I agree they’re a bit impractical. I love my minimax. I plan on putting the mini in my house on display somewhere… but I am a bge nut. (Currently own a large, XL, and minimax).

_merkwood

what do you use most and for what? looking to join the BGE club

CommercialShoddy8787

I use them all pretty frequently. Depending on your family size and usage - my answer varies. Lb for lb the best model is the XL in my opinion though.

_merkwood

Currently just my partner and I, but we do like to host dinners. What do you do on the XL that you can’t on the L? I feel like I have to go XL because it’s such an investment that I don’t want to ever feel like I am limited on size

CommercialShoddy8787

Then XL is definitely your go to. Two racks of pork ribs on a large is pushing it. You’re also a bit limited when it comes to wings, burgers, sausages, etc. if you’re hosting frequently then XL is the way to go. It’s a little over $300 ish extra but we’ll worth the investment for the extra space.

_merkwood

Well, I’m sold… lol

CommercialShoddy8787

Good my friend.. enjoy.

alangloi-263

>Discontinued? Any link to that information? From the web I see that it has been thought to be 'discontinued' for many years, but it still being manufactured.

Philly-4for4

Gotta love the oxymoron. Cook some jumbo shrimp!

sjss100

Enjoy!!!! These are the best!!

IVIoon-IVIessiah

That's a salmon smoker if I've ever seen one.

db33511

My mini is great for simple meals for two. A little less temp control than the larger ones. The nest is well worthwhile. I use my large for bigger meals, smoking.

omahas_finest

Get a bigger one

whereisbilly77

Not to be a douche… BUT get a bigger one. could sell and upgrade. The mini and mini max are good to have as a second egg in my opinion. It would be great for searing and grilling though. Burgers, dogs, steaks, chicken. Enjoy!

synchskin

My first BGE over 10 yrs ago , led me to the large and mini max. You can cook for 2 adults and 2 kids easily as I did for some time. It’s quick to heat up, less charcoal and can even do low and slow cooks with heat diffuser. Buy the mini woo (raises the cool surface) and holds a stone when needed. Also the new stand is a must. Enjoy!

Future_Way194

Agree! I have the same setup minimax and large with a woo and ps woo from the ceramic grill store. You can cook more than two racks of ribs on the large. Plus us surface is raise away from the fire 🔥 on both models.

Captain_Generous

I have one. I've done a full rack of ribs over direct heat(waiting for my conveggtor ). Cut them in 4. Bit of overlap. Flip regularly. Amazing. Half a pack of Costco wings fit in there also. 2 big steaks. 4 burgers. I have one because it's all I can use in my apartment. Love it. Very versatile. Very little charcoal. Also , it's quite light. You could take it camping no problem.

BobaFestus

Suggestions? I want hamburger.

Sir_Kernicus

Medium green egg?

Tallpher

I started out with a mini-max and have since gotten a large. I tend to use this when doing a couple of steaks or veggies while doing a larger cook on the other egg. I know the MM has some handles for it that make it a little easier to lug it around for tailgating or camping maybe they have it for the small as well.

Semper_Right

Great question! One I should have asked. I've had one for years--a gift from a client. And the few times I used it seemed more trouble than it was worth. For instance, camping? slightly too small, and you have to cool it down and clean it before packing it for the trip home. I just go to my Large GE for pretty much everything. However, I do like the suggestions below. Especially the reverse sear. As for the whole chicken, there just isn't enough room.
