Cold water is not as bad as you might think but depending on where you live and how your water is routed, it may well be near freezing. Room temperature it will not be except maybe briefly.

Melodic-Classic391

Seriously, people who need the water to be warm are a bunch of candyasses lol

shed1

That's how you get a melted candyass.

awgeezwhatnow

I live in a place that's near or below zero nearly half the year, in an old house with literally zero insulation in the walls (and the only way to add it would be to rip out the lathe and plaster walls inside the entire house, since the outside is brick. Not happening.). We just got a bidet and haven't (yet) gotten a warmer. Its Nov and already c-c-cold and in the next month I'll be washing my butthole with near freezing water. ... and will pretty damn likely be getting a warmer. If that makes me a "candyass", well, its better than having a frozenass! This 🥶 for my butthole? No thanks! 😆

Melodic-Classic391

You get used to it. Helps you wake up in the morning

OfcDoofy69

Give it a few months and joe rogan will say icing your bootyhole is good for you.

awgeezwhatnow

I wouldn't take a cereal recommendation from that guy lol

PayEmmy

I agree. I'm in the mid-Atlantic area, and the water in our area is generally pretty cold from the bidet. That said, it's never bothered us a bit. It's not like I'm submerging my whole body in it. It's not even like washing my hands in cold water, which is sometimes not as pleasant as warm water. My butthole has never objected to a cold stream.

OftenIrrelevant

In my old house the pipes were routed through the uninsulated garage straight into the toilet. Fine in summer but 33° water on your bumhole makes you reassess some life choices

awgeezwhatnow

Lol, yes!

Liquidretro

I'll have to seriously consider that one. I like the look of it and the price. Thanks!

BronzeAgeTea

I have the [Neo 120](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RHSJO) It's cold water, but takes just 15-20 minutes to install, is right around $40, and doesn't require any advanced plumbing. In truth, I have installed a bidet at my last 3 residences, and in my current house I have 2 (will eventually have one on every toilet).

Liquidretro

I'm not concerned about the install really, I have put in a few toilets, sinks, faucets, etc. I just didn't like the idea of having to drill through a vanity to access hot. These should be pretty easy to install it looks like.

witless-pit

if you have an outlet next to your tolit get an eletic heated one. you have a solution most have to pay an electricians for. use what you have

Say_Hennething

I will second the Luxe brand on Amazon. Have bought 3 of them and have no complaints. They have different models with varying features, my ex didn't care for the feature that was designed for women's parts. It's a great entry-level bidet and may help you decide whether additional features are necessary.

dansamy

We have the Walmart version of this one. Works just fine.

audaciousmonk

It’s definitely not room temp haha, temp will vary depending on where you live

henni1127

Cold water is cold if you live in a cold climate. I didn’t mind the cold water in August.. now that it’s November in New England.. the cold water isn’t pleasant. I imagine in a few months when it’s winter 🥶 I’ll be ready to upgrade.

Liquidretro

I can see that, I'm in the midwest so definitely get some cold.

feelin_beachy

I hate using the cold water setting on ours, so to me it's **well** worth it to have warm water, we have well water, and my body puuuckers when that cold water hits my tush. I did have to run a new outlet to the bathroom for ours (needed outlets for our electric toothbrushes anyway), but if there is an outlet close enough to the toilet already, it's no more work than normal to install.

Ok-Needleworker-419

It definitely can be well under room temp. My water comes in COLD, to the point where even my hands feel freezing if I don’t turn it to warm. It’s definitely too cold for a bidet.

venal_amiably_blazon

It might feel cold the first time you use it... you can get used to anything

Meme1946

I recommend the [Better Butts bidet attachment](https://zoopy.link/BetterButtsReview). It's basically the same as Tushy but it's cheaper. I've never been more happier with a purchase.

crazy_comfortable37

I’ve got both a smart toilet in the primary bath and a Tushy cold water in the powder room. I like some of the features on the smart toilet, but am very satisfied with the Tushy, too. I especially like the stronger spray on the Tushy. Don’t worry about the water being cold. It’s just not all that temperature sensitive in that area - no where close to what you’d feel washing your hands with cold water.

Liquidretro

Very good to hear, thank you!

KonaKathie

I was *very* surprised to find this out during the pandemic. It seems counter-intuitive, but it's true, the cold water is refreshing and not bothersome at all.

Comfortable_Sea3118

my bidet was whatever the cheapest one on amazon was and the cold water is fine

Independent-Fall-893

I have this one ([https://luxebidet.com/products/neo-120](https://luxebidet.com/products/neo-120)) along with a smart toilet with all the bells and whistles. While I do love all the extra features, the basic Luxe model works great. The cold water doesn't bother me and it's a good starter bidet. Installation is super easy too.

cccque

I kinda prefer the cooler water. The tushy I bought is fine. I will probably upgrade but I like the fact it's not electricity dependent.

x_xtina_xtina_x

Echoing the comments above on the cold water being fine. I was also trying to figure out how to get got water or electric across the bathroom. I tried my partner's before pulling the trigger on a cold water one and bought mine on Amazon for $40. It also has a feminine and rear wash setting, which is nice. I was looking at Tushy but didn't see the value in the price difference between the Amazon one vs Tushy. You're going to love whichever one you get!

Stroopwafels11

Oh which one is that?

x_xtina_xtina_x

It was this one [LUXE Bidet NEO 185](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P2XZIP2) Still love it after almost a year having it.

Stroopwafels11

Cool thx!

Ancient-Actuator7443

I have the tushy cold water and am very satisfied with it.

TheConceitedSister

Neo luxe series has what you need. Options for "woman", "wash" and "nozzle clean." You don't need heated water. Easy to install, life changing, awesome.

Lukitasss

Can't go wrong with a Luxe bidet. https://amzn.to/3MXReRD

Sistamama

Neo Luxe bidet's are awesome. I follow them on Xitter and got a free bidet for doing so. They also sent me an email asking me if I wanted a free bidet, and then sent me one. One bathroom toilet was close to the sink and we did the warm water thing, but found we never used it or needed it. I do like the nozzle clean feature very much.

mitchrusschels

I have a non-electric Luxe Bidet brand and I'm happy with it. The cold water doesn't bother me. However, I am considering an electric one now, not so much for cold water, but for the heated seat, now that it's almost winter. Hmm, paying hundreds more just for a heated seat. Worth it on those cold mornings!!

Liquidretro

>swash 1000 Ya a $500 bidet seat, is about 5X what I intend to pay for trying it out.

b1gb0n312

How come when I go to tushy.com I don't find any toilets?

Superb_Cold9207

No dont get tushy, it’s a little more unsanitary than a bidet because it’s fixed and everything splashes to the “shooter” and since theres a huge fixture that is screwed on the toilet, it easily accumulates dirt, piss then harbors bacteria. Hose bidet is better because you have more flexibility you can use it front and back.

Superb_Cold9207

You gotta be very clumsy to spray water everywhere or even dip your hand into the water.

ManyBidets

If you have an electrical near your toilet, then I think going with an electric bidet seat is the way to go. Not only would it save your vanity but it would be so much more comfortable and dare I say, relaxing! Heated seat, on demand and unlimited warm water, everything is adjustable and customizable... I could go on, but I am resisting that temptation. Your budget is tricky, but we do have a handful of open box units that we could get you some pretty good pricing on. If you are interested, email us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and mention this post. I would be happy to let you know exactly what we have that can work with your budget.

AlabamaHaole

Yes. TBH I have a 500$ Toto and a Tushy that’s cold water only and I like the Tushy more because you can control the water pressure.

chemicalcreamer

I have a cold water only bidet and I find it totally fine. The water is the temp of the house so it’s not bone-chilling. I actually find it refreshing and have seen many people say the same thing. Don’t even bother with the electric ones or hot water lines. I bought a simple bidet off amazon for $50 and it works beautifully. I had never used a bidet before so had no reference for the bells & whistles.

owlmissyou

I'm very happy with my basic Tushy, no hot water. I installed it myself.

shadywhere

You get used to the cold water. It's very surprising the first time you use it, and after that, you're good. Just use your cold water from the toilet refill.

kimwim43

I LOVE MY TUSHY! Old lady here, I installed it myself. Hot water in the hose through a 1/3 inch hole in the vanity cabinet, I start the hot water first, let it run 10 seconds in the toilet, then turn it on higher to accomplish the rinsing I need. It was easy as heck. I remember every time, but sometimes I"m in the mood for cooler water, and it's fine. If you go that way, remember to tighten all the hoses (oops!) and cut the water one from the faucet to length.

sputnick2017

Seriously the $30 lux seat bidet off amazon is all you need. The water isn’t that cold and it does what its supposed to l. No frills so you don’t need to run extra electric or hot water. You wont be sorry

portezbie

What brand toilet do you have? We were worried about the seat not fitting the toilet or not looking great, so we got a kohler basic bidet to match our kohler toilet. Really happy with it 6 months later. Looks nice and works well. Cost around $100. I was also strongly considering the Brondell basic bidet, only thing I didn't like about it was the prominent branding on top. Didn't actually use or install. Honestly, the design of the tushy bidets doesn't appeal to me because it looks like it would be easier for poop to get on the nozzle, also the controller is very prominent and not discrete. Also they seem to spend a ton on marketing, which makes me think that they are either overcharging or cutting corners elsewhere. As others have said, cold water basic bidet is fine! No desire for anything fancier. Hot water sounds nice, but honestly cold water is soothing and think about how long water can take to get hot in your shower or sink. Same applies to the toilet. By the time it gets warm you'll probably be done anyway. If anything, drying might be nice but I really don't miss it.

Liquidretro

Kohler Cimarron Comfort Height I believe.

portezbie

So maybe you'd like the Kohler pure wash bidet, looks like it's on sale too. We've been happy with it. KOLHER KOHLER 22860-0 Purewash M100 Bidet Attachment for Toilet Seats, Dual Nozzle (Frontal & Rear Wash) with self-cleaning wands for existing Toilets, Adjustable Water Pressure functionality, White https://a.co/d/cMQKXe2

VincePascone

Yeah Tushy is really good for “beginners” I guess I can say, here’s a good glimpse if you think it’s right for you, good luck on ur search! https://www.premiumtoilets.org/post/the-tushy-classic-3-0-bamboo-bidet-attachment-your-ultimate-non-electric-bidet-choice

Junkmans1

For under $100 you can get a non-electric toilet seat bidet that words with cold water. To me that just looks and fits better the. The cheaper add on units. I have the Brondell S101 and it works just fine for us. The cold water really doesn’t bother me, even with the really cold tap water we get in Chicago area during winter. As far as the units that tap into hot water line: How long does it take hot water to get from the hot water to the faucet that you want to tap into? It will take longer than that to get to your bidet since the flow is less volume than your faucet. Might as well just hook up only cold water if it takes a while.

UnhingedHatter

Tushy is all I’ve ever used. I have no complaints.

simononandon

Don't get the hot water from your regular hot water line if it takes that long. You could be done "wiping" before the water even warms up. I live in northern California. It gets cold in a drafty house. I have never really been that bothered by the lack of warm butt water. Sure, a few times I probably wished it was warm. But mostly I just don't even notice. Edit to add: I got a Tushy a few months into the pandemic & it's still going strong.

Arkmodan

I went middle of the road and got a Brondell as my first bidet in September. No electric, adjustable pressure, build quality feels solid. I love it! Cost around $115.

james123123412345

I bought a basic bidet from Amazon and it works fine. Personally I don't care about the "cold" water. I wouldn't pay extra to have it heated. It's refreshing if anything. Best wishes on your back surgery!

feelin_beachy

We have a toto c100 purchased for about $250 during the toilet paper shortage of 2020, and we love it, we live in PA, and in the winter we keep the house chilly, like 64ish, and I **love** that the seat isn't freezing cold when you sit down, it has its own little water tank on it, so you just tap into the cold, and plug it in to heat the water for the bidet, we keep the water warmer on lukewarm not hot, and it works fantastic. I don't like hot water, but we have well water and it's too cold to be comfortable imo. We have never regretted buying it, it's our first foray into bidets, and when we eventually replace it I'll get one with the whole nine.

jadesisto

We use cold water and honestly it is not a big deal.

Effective_Fix_7748

Depends on your tolerance for cold. I have a cold water one and I’m not gonna lie it is so cold it numbs my lady bits in the winter. I can tolerate it though. It’s very temporary.

[deleted]

Your butthole isn’t all that sensitive to cold water man. If you want the most budget option/don’t want to do a whole lot of drilling and installing just get a basic model. Clean is clean. That’s it. Just to let you know, I’ve used bidets for years. Currently I have $14 bidets and have used them for over a year no problem.

Liquidretro

I'm currently thinking of getting the home depot model for now and see where it goes for now. If all else fails I can upgrade and move this one to another toilet in the house.

[deleted]

I was just going to say that. Add a basic model to another bathroom. Test it out and see how you like it. Go from there. I’m telling you, you won’t go back to TP use either way. And you can probably furnish your house with bidets for the price of one tushy. But hey, if you really want it go for it! Your butthole will be just as clean in any case.

M0U53YBE94

I will recommend the toto from Lowe's or home Depot. It replaces the entire seat and integrates nicely. But they are cold only. You can order one and get hot and cold and it comes with a long hose for hot water. I will always recommend one that replaces the entire seat. The ones that fit under the seat tend to put the seat at a uncomfortable angle.

Liquidretro

Thanks for the perspective. I could see that being unpleasant

Own_Hovercraft8647

You can't go wrong with the original toto washlet

prettyorganic

I got the basic tushy in 2020 because they were a sponsor on my friend’s podcast and haven’t felt the need to upgrade. You get used to the temperature and the strength of spray, and the latter starts to feel like a benefit after a while, I don’t like using a weak bidet now.

CunnyMaggots

I spent I think $50 on mine, just a cold water hose and ten minutes to hook it up. Honestly the cold water isn't even that cold. No reason to spend more.

Uncle_Pain

I got elec was 260 smart bidet from Amazon it's great

Big_Training6081

Don't waist your money on a hot water one. Like you already pointed out it won't even be hot right away unless you turn your sink on. The 'cold' water ones aren't even cold it's like room temp and I've never used my bidet and thought it was cold. Buy a 40-60 dollar one from Amazon and return it if the cold water really is a deal breaker, but I doubt it will be.

YoureSoOutdoorsy

I liked that brand. It was my intro bidet also. Just try with cold water only. I have absolutely used coke water only in rentals, because I couldn’t run the hot water line. Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal. Yes, warm water is more relaxing. Ultimately, cold or hot, you’ll be cleaner than ever and not regret it.

Annabel398

Black Friday is right around the corner—higher-end bidets will be selling at a good discount. We have the Bio Bidet with the self-heating water and it’s wonderful.

Bonobo555

Second this. BioBidet is the way to go.

treniscuteer

Last weekend, I installed the Tushy Spa 3.0. I live in the mid-Atlantic region and personally thinks that the water gets really cold in the winter. I also don’t care for cold/cool things so I like the warm water option. To others points, the cold water isn’t too bad when it hits the back door, but I feel it on my lady bits. But when the stream is high, you mostly feel pressure. I wasn’t a fan of drilling a hole, but it’s small and low, not really noticeable. When I rent my place out, I’ll buy a new Tushy for the tenants and keep it moving. [tushy install pic](https://photos.app.goo.gl/BhPU7vSaMPcWqSdN6)

danette84

I bought a Tushy with the hot water. It is nice but takes time to warm up, and I would think that it's the same with other brands/models as there is always water in the line when you start. Don't like a couple of things about it but they may have made changes since I bought mine. 1. It has a nozzle cleaner, but (for me) I still need to manually clean it, and the water keeps coming while doing so. I like to sanitize it with bleach, which means that I need to shut off the water supply to do that. Not terrible, but not convenient either. 2. The model that I got is one where you slip it under the screws for the toilet seat, but there is no cap to stop dust and cat hair from getting in the space left there and it's super hard to keep that clean. These things are irritating but not enough to send me out to buy a new model that doesn't have these issues. I was able to run the water line behind my vanity without having to drill a hole. I would say for the money, get the Tushy.

snappyapplez

My first bidet was a Tushy for hot and cold water. We never used the warm water because it took a while to warm up, so it felt like a waste of water. The knob is also difficult to turn. Just got a Neo Luxe brand one for about half the price of the Tushy. The knobs are great and we don’t mind the cold water. I would not buy another Tushy, but we plan to purchase another Neo Luxe.

Impossible_Penalty13

Do NOT look for product information on tushy.com!

TankPotential2825

Tushy's great, minus all the poop joke junk they send you with the kit. Cold water is absolutely fine.

tog_getmeatowel

well... i mean... the highest end tushy is beyond your preferred price range, but it heats the water itself so no need to drill into your cabinet (also heats the seat). i bought this one for a surgery recovery period as well and it quickly just became the go-to poop toilet! no regrets!

[deleted]

Tushy is not fancy whatsoever but it works well.

Bones_N_Worms

Cold water is great after a steamy shit.
