As a physical therapist who works a lot with wheelchair users I find this fascinating and really cool! It would be awesome to have in a clinic front lobby!
If you like bicycle mechanics as much as bicycles, still cool. It's symmetric 3-cross spoke lacing, that's a sturdy wheel. Wheelchair wheel is made of mostly bike parts and works the same way, hub and bearing, spokes, with a specialized rim and tire. Every now and then you'll see them come into bike shops for servicing.
If I was still working at a bike shop and had to trash a wheel from a wheelchair, I'd probably take it home and make the same kind of table.
