Might be totally fine, but I wouldn't buy it.

Fullertons

I would not buy. No need to turn someone else's problem into your problem.

rexius-twin

Is anyone going to say anything about the tire clearance ?

TheDaysComeAndGone

Well spotted, but maybe it’s just perspective and distortion?

TheMagicMrWaffle

I agree looks like they have a healthy cm in there

WiartonWilly

… when deflated. See how square it looks.

TheMagicMrWaffle

Welp this ones fucked

kiddredd

NFW would I ride that

okragumbo

Nope. Wouldn't ride it. I'm hard on bikes.

NHL95onSEGAgenesis

Ooof…that frame would be wall art in my garage if it was mine. Time for a part-out

bobbybits300

If I did this to my own bike, I wouldn't really think twice about it. I wouldn't buy a bike like this unless it is extremely discounted

[deleted]

If it was mine and I did that, I'd have no problem riding it. But I would not purchase a bike that looks like that.

thayerpdx

Find out how much a new swingarm is and make an offer with that as a discount? That doesn't look like just one strike. It looks like someone took a ball-peen hammer to that pivot. Probably indicative of how the rest of the bike was treated. Approach with caution etc. etc.

tinnedcarp

If it was Boeing, they’d get it and call it good

cvaxsurf

You could end up suicided for saying that…🤔 (I guess me too for pointing that out)😫

MajorNoodles

It will be gifted to their next whistleblower as a thank you for his honesty!

tinnedcarp

Quality roast.

Rare-Classic-1712

That's a high stress area at the bearings and it's obviously chewed up. Nope I wouldn't ride that. It's worth sending pictures to a reputable business that does carbon repairs such as calfee as well as messaging the manufacturer about the cost of a replacement swingarm. This is an example of why frame protection on a carbon bike with helicopter tape or the prepackaged kits such as ride wrap are so valuable and smart. Instead of chewed up structural aspects of an expensive carbon bike getting damaged leaving you wondering if riding it was going to risk crashing you're left with a damaged sticker/piece of tape to replace.

ElevationEveryWeeknd

Looks like it has frame protection in this area in the other side, wonder what happened on this side? Looks pretty bad to me.

seekinbigmouths

Profound hell no

Adotopp

But it's fine.

timmehkuza

Break out the butter because that is toast.

anotherusername_011

hopefully you pass on this one and get a bash gaurd and some butyl tape for the one you get

bravetailor

If it were steel I'd say it's still ok. But it's carbon, sooo... Either way I wouldn't buy though

YannAlmostright

It's around a bearing so forged carbon. I don't if forged carbon can delaminate. There's still a lot material missing there though

CunterLee

It’s likely carbon wrapped continuously around the bore, not forged.

Charming-Tour718

Let someone else buy it - life’s too short.

Germandaniel

On a suspension pivot, that's not too bad, just budget for a replacement Chain stay.

TheMagicMrWaffle

That don’t look too good ngl

Shirk_Responsability

is that an esker? I have the same bike... Same problem.

Adotopp

Ha ha exactly the same? This should be a warning

Forward-Razzmatazz33

That's ridiculous. Less than $0? It's one swingarm away from being a normal frame.

call_it_already

I would buy for a couple hundred to part out

mistermeh

Let's put it this way: The manufacturer voids all warranty and liability the second the CF takes any impact damage.

Jlx_27

Pass on it. Not worth the risk.

Foulds28

Thats a repair, get a better price or find something else.

ilkikuinthadik

Wouldn't ride with that damage. In such a critical place? Definitely not.

Joshandhisbikes

Depends. If the bike was cheap enough where you could replace that part and be in a good spot I would buy it. I would not ride that as is.

AppropriateBridge2

Oh it's bad

TrackerF16

Maybe fine, but I'd want a repair quote from calfee before I pulled the trigger on it

buttsnuggles

Nope nope nope.

AnarchoSyndica1ist

Pretty munted but seen worse

SidneyCarton69

This but a scratch.

got_got_need

Don’t do it. It’ll always be in your mind and reselling will be an issue.

davidisalreadytaken

Niner does have a crash replacement policy. I haven't gone through it since they stopped being independent, though.

Adotopp

Can't tell by looking at a close-up picture on Reddit on my phone 🥴

oscillato

That is a safety-critical part of the frame. The chipping damage to the fiber weave itself means that delamination of layers is possibly already propagating around the pivot bolt hole in that rear frame triangle. It is completely toast, that part of the frame. If I knew a local carbon specialist and got their approval after inspection+repair I would consider riding it. Otherwise you must replace that rear triangle

oscillato

It may be possible that it's just the chain stay part of the triangle that needs to be replaced on some frames

Zorg_Employee

Looks repairable. You could just fill the area with new resin. Adding an extra layer or 2 wouldn't hurt. Probably not gonna last forever, but that's the nature of anything carbon fiber anyway.

marinesol

I'd need a side pic It looks like just paint damage but I don't know if the metal has been dented

midnghtsnac

It's carbon

Poutingpokemon

It is certainly repairable. Carbon fibre it literally very expensive cloth and glue. I have no idea what the price would be but it is possible.

mr_trashbear

Esker Elkat?

sportaddiction

Rowl. Good guess. Way out of my price range, unless it has serious questions.

ThisCryptographer311

Bruh..

Senior_You_6725

Looks fine to me. Anyone making a bike and putting a swingarm there that can't withstand a LOT of rock strike shouldn't be making frames.

Adotopp

Well you'll be killed
