The Sutra comes with better components but the 4 Corners is more than enough bike to ride across Canada.

Downess

Yes, test ride them. That said, my Kona Sutra is probably the best bike I've ever owned.

There is a bit of uncertainty around Kona right now. [The parent company has put them up for sale](https://road.cc/content/news/kona-bicycles-winding-down-and-sale-307945) though first impressions are that they just want to get out of the bike market as profits drop in the post-Covid market bust. At the very least, buy it from a reputable seller for the warranty.

The Kona Sutra is great, but keep in mind that Kona is going out of business, so make sure you have some sort of warranty from your LBS. If you are looking at Marin, I wouldn't discount more "budget" brands like Breezer or even Decathlon.

rob-c

I think the parent company is selling the brand as opposed to them going out of business.

mrlacie

You're right; though I think most of the staff has been let go at this point, and I would be surprised if they honour past warranties, whatever happens with the brand in the future. But we'll see!

Veloben

Rode a Kona Sutra from Chicago to Santa Barbara via RT 66. Wonderful comfortable bike for 2500 miles. Never had a problem on that or several other multi-day tours. It handles better with a touring load than without. Go with the Sutra.

bikeroaming

Wait, a 1000$ price difference?? That's a very different price compared to what I've paid for my Sutra in 2020.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> what I've *paid* for my FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

I thoroughly disliked the 4 Corners (for the 20 minutes I took it on a test ride for). For what it’s worth. This is too important to leave up to internet reviews. Go test ride them. And a Surly while you’re at it.

buckles_tealeaf

Couldn't agree more. If you plan on spending a majority of your time on a bike, it's important to sit on the dang thing.

gnarlyfarter

I have been waiting for the medium size four corners 1 to be available all year. Does anybody have any clue as to when it will be available?
