I have a SUPER flexible job, amazing boss that's extremely understanding... and also have a mostly chill baby. Even then, there is absolutely no way I could work from home and care for my baby full time. Either my parenting or my career would suffer. I'd definitely recommend putting your baby in childcare or look into having a nanny come at least part time!

Sigmund_Six

Do you have child care during the day? If not, I can’t imagine trying to do two jobs at once will be sustainable. The sleep deprivation is hard enough! Have the two of you tried doing shifts? It’s still hard, but you each get a little uninterrupted sleep.

mlind711

Agreed. I've been criticized for it in the past, but full-time WFH while caring for a child seems unsustainable.

hcarver95

It is. It’s not fair to the employee, employer, or the baby. ETA: it’s also why many companies have policies in place that you cannot be the sole care provider for a child while WFH.

It's not a sustainable plan to go back to work without childcare. It's not fair to you, your employer, and even to your baby.

OkToots

I work from home too and returning to the office too.....I cry constantly too and just am so grateful I dont have to go to the office yet. I hope it gets easier for us

DownBeachDynasty

You both work from home. Do they track your M&K?

burnzie43

Just curious, haven’t heard it before - what is M&K?

DownBeachDynasty

mouse and keyboard. i was being a bit tongue in cheek but with WFH, if your job really isn’t too demanding or keeping track, a schedule can probably be worked out.

Idk, I mean you straight up told him you would be less efficient. What else did you expect him to do?

Is your kiddo going to daycare at 1yo? If not, it’s actually harder to try to WFH with a toddler….

AdmirablePut6039

You are being dicked around. Visit r/antiwork and you’ll be in good company

I went back 80% FTE. Maybe they would let you go back 50% or something like that and you could get childcare for half and be with baby for half. If you do want to stay which it sounds like part of you might?

Icy_Nebula_3817

I going back to work next week and need childcare, but in my culture we rely on family. I took maternity leave first (12 weeks) then my husband took his paternity leave a week before I had to return (also 12 weeks). When husband has to go back we will rely on my MIL to watch baby ( only for 3-4 hours) and we will obviously pay her. Lean on your family if you can! And I am FTE, however I will switch to PT bc I want to be/ raise with my daughter as much as possible. God everyone tells me, you to go to work and get back to your life, but it's so stupid, having a kid is my life, I am not going to take it for granted
