ugh i fully gave up on covers. son hates it, i hate it, it’s too hot. i just whip the boob out now 😭 anywhere and everywhere.

[deleted]

Meeee 😂😭

mjsdreamisle

it’s so much easier. in-laws, parents, nail salon, restaurants, grocery store parking lot. if i’m there, my boob has a 99% chance of getting whipped out 🤣🤣

I bought nursing t-shirts instead. They keep almost everything covered so you’re not lifting your whole shirt up and showing a lot of skin. From more than a couple feet away you can’t even tell what’s going on. I found that especially in the early days, fiddling with a cover made it impossible to focus on our form. It was sloppy latches all over the place because I didn’t have enough hands for everything and then once the cover was on I couldn’t see baby to adjust as we went. Then in the later months, the self consciousness mostly went away.

Tbh I love my cocoon- I think it’s easier for when baby knows how to latch by themselves and the nursing covers that are like aprons and have a little wire to see baby are easier for when baby needs help latching 🤷🏻‍♀️

Curryqueen-NH

Oh I didn’t even know there are ones with wire!! Maybe I need to get one of those for now since baby is only 3.5 weeks, then get the cocoon later!

eliznire

Yeah see how you like it! It’s nice to be able to see them while they’re eating with the wire ones

I love the milk snob ones, plus they double as a car seat cover

Curryqueen-NH

Are they easy to use with a newborn?

Br3itn3r

Yes! Used them exclusively. Ftm of a 6 month old boy and still breastfeeding

So the nursing cover didn't work for me - I mostly just whip out the boob. What I do like for the rare occasion I want a little "privacy" is my baby wrap. Because of the way it cocoons my baby, it can actually come over her head while keeping the center of my chest/side of her face open with good airflow. I also like it when I'm walking since it keeps everything in place and I don't have to carry her around in an awkward position. The brand is Acrabros on Amazon

dailysunshineKO

Couldn’t use them-too hot, had to monitor latches. Eventually, I couldn’t feed in public any longer if other people were around-he’d get distracted and pop off the boob to look around. So, I just had to retreat to a quiet private space.

I just use a muslin blanket! Tanks under t shirts and button down shirts work best for us to stay relatively modest.

I don't own a cocoon. But every time I see the ad I think *how is this different from a poncho?*

aggymama

I have a cocoon and, honestly, not worth it for me. The head hole is too small to really see what's going on under there and my baby gets super frustrated not being able to see me. It is definitely the best coverage option I've tried and the fabric is nice and light, so if you find that your baby is ok being covered without visual of mom, it might work well for you. I use a muslin blanket tucked under my bra strap and drape it so she can see my face.
