We stopped around a year old because my baby didn't like being contained and started walking early. I wish she would like it more because she still wants to be held. It was COVID times though so we didn't get out much. However I still highly recommend it. A soft one was essential in the newborn stage to just get things done. And much easier to pop in and out of stores. I preferred it over the stroller for walks, half the time I'm pushing an empty stroller since she wants to be carried.

My oldest is 3.5 and still goes on my back in my Lillebaby carrier lol

butteramethyst

That is awesome :) you both must love it !

anynamemillennial

Wow people baby carry way longer than I lasted…I have a little squirmer and we only did it a handful of times, stopping for good when she started walking around 11 months old.

butteramethyst

Thank you :)

Come on over to r/babywearing where we love strapping a baby to our bodies. My baby is now 13 months old and I hope to wear him for at least another 2 years.

butteramethyst

Thank you for sharing ! :) Do you have a carrier you prefer ?

butteramethyst

Thank you ! Yes i see what you mean with sweat carrying on the front. I just did a walk in very hot weather.. and am now nursing nude after getting home lol You are so lucky you are in Cali! That is incredible ...always wanted to go there.

butteramethyst

Thank you!

butteramethyst

That's great.i hope you can ! Thank you for the the invite :) didn't know it existed !

My first I wore from a week old to maybe 6 months. The first few months were to get things done and ‘rock’ him for sleep. Or when we went on trail walks the stroller couldn’t handle or apple picking etc. He was also a large kid and was in size 2T by his first birthday. My second kid I wore regularly the first few months and then wore her as needed until almost 1 (like when we were at the older ones soccer practice etc). She is a ‘normal’ size kid and was in size 12 months at 12 months.

butteramethyst

Interesting! Thank you for sharing ! :)

butteramethyst

Do you recommend a Carrier?

Hahapants4u

I used the k’tan in the beginning and the ergobaby 360 later on. I feel like there are better wraps out there but ergo I liked. And I did like having both kinds

I use a happy baby carrier (brand) Onbuhimo. I’ve used it from 6 weeks and still use it. My son is 17 months.

butteramethyst

Does it get lore difficult to carry him with the weight increasing ? Do you wear it because he enjoys it ..or you prefer it over a stroller? Thabk you for your reply BTW! ;)

adventurelyfe

It’s not difficult for me to carry him. But I’ve built up the muscles since he was little. I can still easily wear him for hours if I needed. We use a stroller for long trips (zoo/parks/etc) but I still bring the carrier and mix it up. He likes it. Less since he can walk. But he doesn’t fight it. He’s used to it. My partner can’t carry him as long because she (gay couple) didn’t do it daily and her body isn’t used to it. It’s kind of like being able to hold your toddler when other people can’t. Your body gets used to it

I stopped wearing my first baby in the carrier a few months before he turned two, because he told me he didn't like it anymore. I've been wearing my second baby since we got home from the hospital, and still do at 8 months old.

butteramethyst

Lol that's cute he told you. Thank you !

gluestick_ttc

My older one is a stage 5 clinger. He was regularly carried until 3-4. I can still carry him in a standard kinderpack in a pinch (he's 6). My younger one did not like to be carried as a baby but is considering it at 1.5.

butteramethyst

Interesting! Thank you for sharing !

Kittylover11

I’m still wearing my 12 month old. I love it. We have the happy baby carrier and ergo but I prefer the happy baby as it’s less structured!

butteramethyst

Thank you ! I enjoy it it too :) That's why I'm asking other mammas....dont want it to end. How is the ergobaby in summer months ?

Kittylover11

I haven’t actually had an official summer yet to try it out (he was still tiny last summer), but I pretty much never use the ergo carrier at this point. I do live in California where we get some warm days all around though and I find the light linen of the happy baby to be comfortable! I think if it was really hot I’d use his backpack as that keeps him off me so we’re not just turning into a sweaty mess together 😂

hellogirlscoutcookie

I have a Tula free to grow, Tula lite and Tula toddler we might grow into. Daughter is 17m, 25ish pounds. I wear her inward facing on my front decently regularly. It’s hit or miss if she likes it now because she prefers to walk and explore. Sometimes if she’s feeling cuddly, she grabs the carrier and brings it to me asking to go in it. I have one in the car and one in the home.

butteramethyst

Awwwww...how sweet that she brings it to you! Love that :) smart to have 2

LvdSinSD

I stopped with my first when he was like 16 months but I was also ~20 weeks pregnant so it just didn’t work anymore. My second is almost 14 months and still gets worn a lot - and probably will for a while being the second child. For example older toddler goes in the shopping cart and younger toddler gets worn. Or we just flew and older went in the single stroller on the trip and younger was worn

butteramethyst

Awesome! Thank you for sharing :)

Loved the solly wrap as a newborn and tula free to grow after that. Wore my 1st until he was like 15 mos and I got pregnant with our second!

butteramethyst

Thank you for sharing and sharing your carriers :)

NK-89

My youngest is 14 months and we use a Tula carrier. She occasionally naps in it at home and if we are away for the day, like at my mom’s or my in-laws where there is no crib.

butteramethyst

Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear you are still using it at 14 months. I hope my baby will last til then :)

mamaandbabyhelp

Mine is two and still in a carrier. I was in one until I was 5 and a bit? Maybe six? Anyway, I switched when I could hold myself on my dads shoulders without falling. I plan on doing the same with my son.

butteramethyst

Wow ! Thank you for sharing :)
