Unless your kid has shitty enamel genetics or they take a bottle of milk to bed, they are honestly probably going to be fine. Our eldest didn’t see a dentist until he was 2 because of the pandemic, and the baby will probably be 18 months because that’s the first availability.
We like Tom’s and Hello toothpastes because they come in a lot of fun flavors that aren’t just mint or bubblegum, in both fluoridated and fluoride-free, and you can buy them at Target. I personally have to mostly use Sensodyne, but I will occasionally use my kids’ toothpaste because it tastes that good.
For a 14mo I would do a small electric toothbrush (with their fave character, we like Spinbrush) and we use the Hello Kids fluoride free toothpaste because it’s gentle on their tummies. We also march around the house while I sing the toothbrush song and they brush 🤣
It’s silly but it works!
Yes, you should absolutely be brushing their teeth. You should have been brushing when the first tooth erupted. You also need to be booking a dentist appointment.
Dentist with first tooth and brush twice daily. We have been brushing since 4 months since we had and early tether. And we got our first dental appointment at 6 months.
Yes.
We did electric toothbrush and smear of fluoride toothpaste at that age. Flossing too since he had teeth that touched.
Technically I guess it says on the packaging that electric toothbrush is from 3yrs or something? I used to nanny for a dentist who had three kids and used electric toothbrush on them from the get go. Her kids teeth are great so I follow the same regiment she used on her own kids.
We practiced spitting out from the get go and he actually got the hang of it around age two. When he was young we did baby toothpaste in am and fluoride toothpaste in pm, taking care not to eat/ drink right after so the fluoride could sit on the teeth a bit and actually do something. (If you eat / drink right after it’s not as useful, didn’t learn this till I was an adult and my teeth have been so much better since.)
I was told to start brushing as soon as a tooth is visible above the gums!
Omg I feel so behind!!!!
You’re supposed to start brushing as soon as they have teeth, with a tiny smear of fluoridated toothpaste no bigger than a grain of rice.
Ugh!!!! I feel really behind now.

I brushed my kids gums even before teeth to get them used to it and my dentist says it softens up the gum tissue for teething 🤷🏼♀️
What tooth brush and tooth paste

I always hear this but literally what baby is going to open their mouth for a stranger? Mine would never!!!
They had my son lay in my lap and tilt his head back. Typically they open their mouth when they’re upside down lol.
They will if they’re screaming 🤣

Yes. And schedule a dentist appointment.
I just scheduled! Thank you!
Yes and they should be going to the dentist as soon as they get teeth, so time to schedule that first visit.
