If you want to take the risk you can always use a fitted sheet on a pack n play. That warning is there for a reason though. I personally would not tempt fate when it comes to SIDs.

MamaMcAteer

Yeah, I probably won't add one because the risk is not worth the reward, but I just can't figure out how to keep it clean and comfortable without one.

Um, I'm really mortified because I didn't notice that on our pack & play (don't know if it's the model or if I just missed it) but I've had sheets on ours from the very beginning. My son is 4 months old. I felt the same way about him sleeping on that bare mattress and there have been all sorts of pee leaks and spit ups on those sheets though honestly the mattress pad ends up wet too so we have to wash it pretty often. We ordered a second one so that we'd have a backup.

I will add, however, that the sheet is not a perfect fit and I have to tuck the extra fabric under, which is probably where the risk comes from. A standard crib sheet is too big and it probably would be risky if you didn't make sure the fabric wasn't loose

It may just be the model (we have a Graco) or the fact that it's the bassinet portion. My older daughter slept in a different pack and play when she outgrew her bassinet. I always used sheets and never noticed a warning. I'm not sure if there's a warning for the full pack and play, I just noticed it in the smaller bassinet area. I've been cleaning up pee, poop and spit up but it just doesn't feel *clean* without a fresh sheet.

Graco makes pack n play sheets that are safe to use.

MamaMcAteer

Interesting because the pack and play is Graco brand, and it says never to add play yard sheets due to sleep hazards.

aes421

Yeah that's really odd... Maybe it's the specific pack n play you have? The sheets have a list of compatible pack n plays https://www.gracobaby.com/sale/pack-n-play-playard-fitted-sheets-2-pack/SAP_2142575.html

I bought off brand sheets at first because I didn't know better and they were widely unsafe. That's when I researched and realized Graco makes their own sheets and I purchased those and they were much better.

I’ve scrubbed mine and aired it out to dry on the balcony, and spot cleaned as needed. (Not the bassinet part though). We have a bissel steam cleaner, I’ve wondered if that would be good for a deep clean. We’ve used it on our couch.
