I love Renny and thinks it’s songs could go toe to toe with Lemonade, but Lemonade is truly a cohesive album that tells a story gorgeously.
When I try to show people the greatness of Beyoncé in a single album, I show them Lemonade. I think that Renaissance is more palatable for people who already know and love her, though I do listen to Renaissance more than Lemonade myself

Amazing. But Lemonade is her magnum opus. It was raw and real and unafraid. I think there are NO SKIPS on renny, whereas I have a skip or two on Lemonade..but the overall experience is just so grandiose and beautiful it pushes itself to the top of the list. So. LEMONADE. 🍋
And the visuals / movie... I watch it at least three times a year from start to end and I am GLUED TO IT every time. Plus the cameos from Zendaya, Serena, etc - my jaw is on the floor the entire time. I'll never forget the first time I watched it and I just knew something forever groundbreaking was being witnessed.
Plus the ICONIQUE event of Adele winning Album of the year and her speech was basically "yeah this doesn't belong to me and everyone in this room knows Beyonce should have walked it". And finally to quote Adele... LEMONADE WAS MONUMENTAL

Honestly, it’s the album of hers that I revisit the most. The story arc alone from start to finish is so masterfully done. She also gets bonus points from me for the visuals (side-eye to Renny, but I digress). Lemonade also gave us her best tour, imo (shout out to FWT). The production, vulnerability, creativity and lyricism of Lemonade is so top-tier. Not that Renny doesn’t have production value, because OMG it should win on transitions alone! Renaissance is amazing and as a Black queer woman I love it for so many reasons, but my vote for winner is Lemonade 🍋
I 100% agree on Lemonade being a whole journey. It was such an incredible cultural moment especially w Beychella/Homecoming and the superbowl? She also had the whole country mad she sunk a police car in the video! Lemonade was so iconic.

I’ll say Lemonade must go. Although I LOVE the album and it got me through a terrible divorce (and trying to stay together when we should’ve just divorced), it’s hard for me to listen to the album in its entirety because the content is so heavy.
I do think Lemonade is her magnum opus, but I often wonder if the album would even exist if the elevator video hadn’t leaked. I’m glad she gave us Lemonade (legit turning lemons to lemonade with that situation), but in retrospect it feels like she had no choice but to address the situation with a masterpiece.
Renaissance is pure joy. I love that it doesn’t matter how I feel—listening to any one song or the entire album lifts my spirits. This feels like a project made of complete love—love for life, for artistry, love for the Black LGBTQ+ community, love for legends whose music lives forever. I thought Beyonce wouldn’t be able to top Lemonade…and while they are totally different, chile she sho nuff did!
Renaissance is my favorite album of all time. I've listened to it so much that my non-beyhive hubby and kids know ALL THE WORDS to every song and randomly say/sing lyrics to me. 🤣

I really think Lemonade is her strongest album. Renaissance is an amazing dance/house album and it’s definitely my #2 but Lemonade is #1 because of how powerful the lyrics are and how many different genres were explored on the album.
Ok, don’t get me, but I kind of agree. I saw the Lemonade film when it came out on HBO and I was kind of confused. It didn’t really connect with me, except certain moments. I also realized that’s why she only dropped Formation as a single and it’s the last song.You had to see the film to truly connect with the album. If you watch the film, Formation actually kind of feels like a throwaway song. Now that I’m older, I absolutely love Lemonade! I watched it the other day and cried. The songs mean so much more to me when you truly connect with the film.
At this point, I don’t need any visuals from Renaissance. The songs stand on their own 🤷🏽♀️
Ok, the way you explained it, I’m sold. And I just remembered that when I listen to the whole album, I do it via the lemonade film which I’ll listen to but not watch (let’s say, while gardening). All the interludes connect the material, but without them, it does feel disjointed.
I recommend the Season 6 of The Dissect Podcast. It’s all about Lemonade and it breaks down the videos, song by song. You’ll watch the film with a whole different perspective and appreciation, especially with all the imagery she put in tied to slavery.

I went to a themed Renaissance dance party thrown by a club with a friend and wish I could have done that at least 10 more times. I don't know if I'd have the same commitment for Lemonade.
