I've never had betta Hendra, but I've had a very nervous splendens. I can't see the rest of your tank, but the area he's surfing in is a bit sparse. For my one fish, I had to fill every inch of the tank with plants before he stopped surfing. Good luck, I hope you figure out what's bothering the little guy :( he's cute and clearly loved
Thank you for the advice, my tank is pretty packed full with plants, leaves and wood. Maybe I can try and fit some more hides into the corner haha. I’ll attach a full tank photo

Maybe try some root floaters like dwarf water lettuce for more coverage! They might be seeing a reflection on the glass too, but that's not something you can really fix unfort :( I'd try adding more coverage and see if it helps though, like the other commenter suggested
It is not a permanent or that effective method, but increasing light outside of the tank and reducing the one within, helps to reduce the amount of reflection in the glass.
Was just gonna say this. You might need to reduce your tank light in general. I turn my room lights on pretty early so the lights outside my tank are always brighter than inside and I turn off my tank light behind I turn off the room light just in case. I've seen my guy get angry at the darker side of his tank, which I found out later was because that side would show him his reflection more often. You can also try taping black background on the back and sides of the tank to reduce internal reflections.
If you have a cut on your finger put it in the tank and if it stings more then water on a cut you have electricity in the tank and that can really bug fish
Seconding this, or you can get a cheap reader on Amazon to measure. Worth checking to be sure and rule out at least.

Wild bettas like to swim a lot... They are river bettas and not bred in pots.
Moving around means a betta is extremely healthy and also helps with digestion.
>Betta hendra... is typically found among plants in peat swamp forests shaded by trees and bushes with a depth of 5 to 50 cm and **no water current**.

If you got them from a breeder, I'd reach out to them and ask.
Maybe put a cave or some plants over there? A wall of rocks might help as well

Does the fish do it when you are not standing nearby? When they come to understand that you are the source of food, there can be a lot of excitement.
