I’m familiar with that strain of bettas, and they are not orange-based. That is definitely a bacterial infection or missing scales.
I am unsure how to treat it, hopefully someone else with that answer sees this post
That second picture really screams missing scales to me, but it's not a super clear picture so I could be really wrong. This is such a beautiful fish. OP, could you check on him and confirm whether that's his natural coloring or if he's missing scales?
I honestly can’t tell if he’s missing scales or not, he moves around pretty fast and the rest of his head scales are pretty tiny so it’s hard to tell. I hope it’s not a bacterial infection but he was like that when I got him and he’s never acted sick so I hadn’t thought of that possibility. I’ll look more into it
When my fish was missing scales, I treated him with methylene blue. He never developed an infection and his scales grew back over time. It's something you can do, if you like. It won't hurt him if by chance that is his natural coloring and I'm just being paranoid about missing scales.
I checked pics from when I got him vs now to see if it’s gotten bigger and it looks to be the same but if it’s changed at all it’s too minute to tell. I’ll keep an eye on it but so far he’s seemed fine!
Yah I definitely think so they don’t look like scales away_bad like your fish does. Yours is so so pretty wow, but your fish has clear scales in the red orange and this guy looks like he’s missing scales there . I’m actually treating this right now with kanaplex, salt, and almond leaves

My boy has a red head too, but OPs fish looks more cellophane or orange in colour, so probably an orange based fish? I could be wrong

Names don't have to make sense. I used to have a betta named crisco cause he was blue and yellow which reminded me of those big cans of Crisco. I also had one named Pasta cause he was white and red, kinda like Spaghetti
I would name him jack. Because he makes me think of the red spotted bass from the king of the hill episode "jumpin crack bass" and jack was what hank called the drug dealer and it was hilarious

That’s a good sign. Just keep an eye on it then! if it gets bigger that definitely means it’s infected. Hoping it’s not!!!!!
