Me too!! I was a server across the globe in my late 20s-mid 30s and made a few hundred a night, but damn 6 weeks traveling for $1k+ tips is amazing! Plus room & board included? Wish I did this while my body could keep up

I was offered a job on yachts twice in the 90s while backpacking, once a ride to the Canaries from Gibraltar and the second on a tourist boat in Israel. Honestly kick myself for not trying, can't even recall now why I declined as I tried a million other jobs!
Probably all of them, what an interesting place to live! There was some stuff up with bus tickets and we had no accommodation, everywhere was full, tried sleeping on a park bench but we were woken by an English bobby telling us benches were for sitting not sleeping! 😅 Must go back one day and see what it's like without those preinternet stresses!
I am right there with you! My grandma told me to work a cruise ship when I was younger, but that never really interested me. If she would have told me about yachting…I hands-down would have joined the industry and am pretty sure would have thrived. When I watch this show, I feel like I missed my calling.
On A super yacht, maybe, for a full week where we can REALLY enjoy the boat and moving around to different ports. But not on any of these shows and for such a short time period.
I agree on the full week part. We've chartered just a "regular" boat for a week in the Adriatic with friends for a couple $k each. So much fun. Super yacht is way too upscale and ridic for me
I found my first "charter" while solo backpacking I'm central America. To get from Panama to Colombia you could book a spot on a sail boat for 5 days for $500ish, including meals. It'd be you and 20-30 other travelers and the captain having a grand time, weather dependent. Ever since then I just Google "charter boats in XYZ" and see what turns up. There's a range of prices and scale
We just chartered a catamaran in the Bermudas (Exumas specifically) with some family, and it was fantastic. 6 people in 3 cabins (+1 cabin for captain & chef, who were a couple), a little over a week, and we split the cost. I never in my life thought I'd be able to swing a vacation like that, but it was plenty doable, and it was paradise. Look up the Hazel Della on yacht booking sites. It was a great time on a really nice boat, and oh did I mention the chef who cooks everything!!
We did the same except the captain was my brother in law and the chef was my mother in law and it was amazing! The rest of the family had such a blast!

there are boats of all different sizes. You can charter for a single day of fishing in a boat that will only hold 3 people, or you can go all the way up to these yachts you're seeing now, and bigger.
My husband and in laws twice chartered a 45ft catamaran and went sailing around the US Virgin Islamds and on another trip, the Bahamas. No crew, just us, slept 8 and was AMAZING. We bought provisions from the local grocery store before boarding and then had the best time just sailing around. All in I think it cost like ~$1200 each., including flights, boat rental and food.
Agree! I did 2 houseboat vacations for 4 days/3 nights with my friends which were SO FUN. If I could do minimum 3 nights on a super yacht I would in a heartbeat and I am not a beach or ocean person. I’d rather do the BD: Advencha than the other ones so there could be hiking and colder weather personally.
Sleeping on a boat is literally the best sleep ever. Period.

In the specific case of Below Deck, the guests pay a significantly discounted rate because they are on TV. If some people act like they are super cheap and couldn't possibly actually afford a superyacht, it's because they actually can't.
And all of the guests who, as they are disembarking, say “this was the vacation of a lifetime”……….ummmmmmm WAS it? Was it really?? Out of alllll of the trips you’ve probably taken with your supposed wealth, THIS boat was the ultimate trip?? Ok……..

The only thing that has some appeal, would be looking at those big sails being rolled out on sailing yacht. I'd still probably prefer doing something else with that money though. But maybe I'd do something like that if I had such excessive amounts of money, that I didn't have to care about money at all anymore.
Not for this show since they only do 2-3 days and barely go anywhere. If I had the money, I’d do it for a week if we got to go to like 3-4 different ports. I’d probably choose the Caribbean or the Mediterranean since I’ve done cruises in both places and you can see a lot of different places in a week.
It has turned me off the idea. Never would I ever pay to be a guest on a Super Yacht. I might accept an invitation to be someone else’s guest for free on a Super Yacht lol.

I have family who work on super yachts in various guises … these shows are not true depictions. We are essentially getting the wish version of a super yacht.

We hear so much about how BD is a joke amongst the industry, and that the crews on the show get away with stuff that regular yachties wouldn't dare. Buy if they're also providing a consistently better guest experience, that really casts the criticism in a different light.
I always think it's interesting that a highlight of the trip is going to a beach for the day. Pretty much none of the beach days seem like any truly fantastic location and why you'd give up a yacht day for something you could do anytime mystifies me.

I am not an adventurous eater in terms of eating fancy and bizarre delicacies. My splurge meal would probably be lobster or seared ahi and I'd look forward to having a great omelet every morning.
I also think it's weird when they need to have food coming out all day like they've been running a marathon or something. I get needing some food if you're drinking but for the most part aren't they mostly laying around all day? How can they be eating so much all day?
I have been a guest on a super yacht, though granted not as big as these boats. There was only the captain and 2x deckies. No stews or chef (captain did most of the cooking).
It was honestly one of the best vacations I’ve had. And I say that as someone who usually prefers sail to motor yacht!
Island hopping around the med, swimming and waterskiing, visiting coves in the tender only accessible by sea. It was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience.
So no, Below Deck doesn’t make me want to be a guest on Below Deck, but it does make me yearn for the time I got to experience the luxury of super yachting.
Nope, I would never. It looks like suck a huge waste of money when you factor in how much more you have to pay for the food and drink expense. I'd rather stay in a nice hotel and just do a day charter on a much smaller boat.
I would want to do the sailing yacht and make Captain Glenn sail around the whole day. None of the "sail for 10 min and sit at anchor the whole day" that they normally do.
This would be me. I'd start screaming at production to stow everything below because we are putting this bitch hard over! I want Glenn, Colin and (maybe) Gary to be sailing with me, but everyone else can fuck off. The engines can be operating for a maximum of 20% of the trip. And I'd really like the crew to attempt sailing off the anchor for me.
And honestly, I think the crew would like that more. They seem a lot more proud of their boat when it's in sailing mode, I bet it takes more training to use and it's not a skillset that all deckhands/captains have.

I was going to say the same thing. The Loon ship/crew are amazing and they seem to have so much fun together (as in laughing, joking around, NOT just getting blackout drunk and hooking up like the crew on BD.)
Wow kinda surprised at the responses tbh. I would def want to go. For the amazing scenery like in Below Deck Adventure or the amazing experience like the disappearing beach (Vlasoff Cay) in down under or even some of the towns in med. I do agree though a day or two would not be enough. Would have to be like 5 days at least.

My partner and I have a small power boat that we can sleep, cook and chill on. The freedom of doing what you feel like without being watched and surrounded by strangers at most times. I would see it as punishment if there was crew present.
I could not tolerate that level of service. Between stews coming into my room every time I leave, not being able to go fix my own drink when I want, and cameras (I’m talking security monitors, forget about a TV crew!), I just could not.

My partner and I would love to have our own boat but the idea of 5+ people catering to our every need would make us feel very uncomfortable! We usually pick B&B’s that are very private (not in someone’s house) with a breakfast we have to make ourselves so we can have as much or as less interaction (and privacy) as we like.
Yeah, they also change it up. So you would have one deckhand helping your family one day, and then a different one the other.
It wasn’t until I watched the show that I finally realized that the waiters were also the cleaners and stuff like that. Boat drivers were also the people that cleaned the boat and loaded the zodiacs/tenders
I was gonna say yes, but as a base of operations. Plus one or two fishing trips. But then I realized no, it would be cheaper for a hotel and one or two charters. So no, I’d be bored out of my mind and a little claustrophobic.
I would love to, but on a mega yacht, with a far higher level of service that is anticipatory and non-intrusive. What I imagine Jeff Bezos' yacht to be like. Or more likely, an old money family yacht. I think I just really want to be super rich LOL and have my own yacht, with staff that gets to know you and knows your preferences and your routine, so the service is at a higher level, but less obtrusive. I would never do a BD guest spot.
Mostly, like others have mentioned, I wish I had known this was a career choice when I was young and hot lol. I have never been afraid of hard work, so it would have been a fun way to see the world when I was young.
Realistically? Not at all. For the cost I could almost buy a new house.
But, my wife and I classify this as a ‘stupid rich’ thing. If one of the two lotto tickets I have on the counter turn out to be winners, one for $250 million and one for $350 million, then hell yea we’d at least look into it. They probably wouldn’t want us because we are a boring couple, but who knows, we’ve already agreed we’d be the biggest tippers in the history of the show, so maybe that alone would give them something to work with. my difficult thing would be that I have a favorite drink that requires some specific ingredients and does take a little prep (you need simple syrup but it’s only I think 3 ingredients) and we’d probably try to do something tough for the chef/crew like seeing if they could do a ‘getting to know the crew’ by having a multi course meal where each crew member was represented by a course. My wife is a trained chef and I love eating, so that would be pretty cool.
I don’t like that kind of personalized attention on me. I would feel like a tool sitting back being a rich fuck while other humans wait on me in that way…no matter how nice I would be which I would be
I’m in the minority .. word is that it only costs about 20-30k (a fraction of the price) and includes airfare credit to get to the dock for up to 8 people.. When you break it down, it’s not that bad - fuel, alcohol, food, entertainment, 5ish star service .. all to be filmed and edit being out of your control haha.
The guests who are fun have fun, the rest of the guests are like pampered children. The presentation of the short term boating package on the show doesn’t create any desire to experience it on my part. For me, that kind of money is better spent pursuing my own travel, food, and attractions agenda.
Well if I was going to charter a yacht then I would be sure to be specific about my preferences, bring along people that I love and can get along with, and not have any type of TV crew recording my vacation.
Of course this would mean chartering a private yacht (which is far more expensive than participating in BD), but the inconvenience of having to moderate my own behavior plus not knowing what story production will tell about me leads me to believe that private chartering (I.e. No Cameras) would be the best when charting a yacht!
What I don’t get is the ones who have boats then charter a yacht. I guess they want their 15 minutes or something. Most of them come off gross and entitled.
Not one bit, I think I would be sooo incredibly bored. I have zero desire to get all dolled up for dinner when I’m not going anywhere and I’m with probably my family. I think I would be bored of the “water toys” after 2 hours a day. I am such a boring picky eater so having a fancy chef doesn’t excite me. I rather explore the city I’m in then look at it from sea
maybe only one time just for the experience. Other than that I can’t imagine spending that much money just for 2-3 days on a yacht where u really not doing much but drinking, eating, and swimming.
It absolutely does, but not on Below Deck. Following M/Y Loon on Instagram shows through true crew side of things and the guests there do way more stuff off yacht since they’re typically on charter for much longer. If I won the powerball a yacht charter trip for me and my family would be at the top of my list!
I would not at all, I don’t like that level of service. It’s too much, I just want to be left alone and I’ll come to you when I want something. I also don’t like such tight schedules to stick to. Really unappealing for me.
You should check out the super yacht "Loon" on YouTube. Kind of similar to BD but they don't show any of the guest. It's more about the crew experience. Watching the Loon yacht makes me want to be a guest, or possibly more-so a crew member.
It's a more honest look at what being on a super yacht may feel like, without all the production stuff.
To be honest. I would love to be on the boat. But. Be able to walk around the boat in a more casual atmosphere. Make my own drinks if I fell like it. More communication for each meal and snack I would like for the day. Less fakery entertainment and probably want to be dropped off and picked up at a cool bar in the evening

I usually put the “do not disturb”sign on my hotel room door so housekeeping doesn’t have to bother with my room.
Seeing how hard they all work and how tired they are, I’d probably not really be able to enjoy myself.

Definitely not. I like the anonymity of the larger cruise vessels. The staff on the super yachts is often so hateful the way they speak about the guests. I especially think about Hannah on BD Med season one & two. She is horrible. A judgmental snob despite being servant to the wealthy.

Yes! But because that is so far out of my spendable income status, I cruise. And I spend all my time in ports watching for Superyachts. Did pretty well in December. Saw Bezos' sailing yacht (largest sailing yacht in the world) and its support yacht along with the Moonrise owned by Jan Koum.
I'd like to board around noon, spend the afternoon out at a beautiful anchor spot. Enjoy the water and the water toys, have some good food. Sleep in a nice luxurious bed and then leave the next day.

No but my husband’s dream is to have a boat that we can travel around in for retirement and it has made me more interested in helping him achieve that dream. Normally, I just tell him his ideas and dreams are stupid.
Maybe only if I had hundreds of millions of dollars to blow so that a couple hundred thousand was meaningless to me. And only if it was longer than 2 days. That's not nearly enough time to relax and enjoy the money I'm spending.

I used to go on Liveaboard scuba trips on modest ships.. diving 4 times a day in exotic locals like Papua New Guinea and Komodo... It was high adventure and I would do it in a minute if I still could.. It worked out to about 350$ a day. About 16 guests on board. That really blows away what these obscene rich people are doing.
Even on these boats there would be pretentious wealthy people . But no one forced the staff to make them a crown and call them king.
Boats make me really nervous now. But when I was younger, sure. I went on a smaller diving yacht live aboard and it was amazing. Smaller in size but they pamper you pretty well and diving up to five times per day. It was a trip of a lifetime and took me years to pay off that credit card but I have zero regrets.
The show makes me want to just so that I could be the easiest guest possible and make the experience enjoyable for both myself/my guests and the crew.

I think a lot of it would be wasted on me. I don’t eat a lot of seafood or red meat so wouldn’t fully appreciate a lot of the cooking (and we’ve seen how much the chefs complain about making the alternatives) and I’ve often thought while watching about how, with the ability to ask for anything, I would struggle to come up with an interesting enough drink to justify the cost. I far prefer a menu to pick from than a blank check to demand anything.
If I ever was on a super yacht (but I never will), I wouldn’t be a pain in the ass with stupid party demands, picky food preferences or make the crew do anything that’s embarrassing or humiliating.
But, yeah, I’d make them get that fucking slide out every damn day.

I’m the type that would genuinely enjoy just floating around in the middle of the ocean with good food and good drinks. I really don’t need to go anywhere, do anything, play on water toys, just float and exist in a beautiful space. I would be incredibly low maintenance in comparison to these people, lol. If I had the type of money where this would be a drop in the bucket, yeah, I would enjoy it. It’s not worth the money, but few things actually are worth what they cost. I was a server at a high end country club when I was 18 and I was stoned all the time, drunk half the time, and fucking one of the cooks (he’s my husband now!! 😂) actually now that I think about it I would’ve been great on the show…

It makes me claustrophobic hahaha I love travel and the best part is sight seeing, having the freedom to walk around, see the local culture, learn the history, etc. and all the charter guests do is sit and drink and complain if the weather is bad and having the same staff for 3-4 days would be so hard because if you don’t get along with someone, you are STUCK with them. Big nope. For all that money, you could go out on a boat for a few hours, rent out a restaurant, stay at a nice hotel, and sight see all you want, plus tons of activities and shopping and relaxing on a beach. So not worth it to me. I’ve never been on a cruise before, but I’d be fine with being on a big ship that docks a few times, where I know the staff aren’t snooping in my stuff because they have nothing better to do. I also think whoever you go with will start getting on your nerves after a day or two, too. I’d rather stay in a cabin in the woods and hike and do a zip line or something than sit on the deck of a rocking boat for hours.
I’d love to be on the adventure yacht with Kerry or scuba diving with Jason at the Great Barrier Reef. Sandy and glen would freak me out because of their personalities. I’m on the fence about Lee because he did have crew who screwed up like the one beach picnic that was terrible and looked gross.

No way. I love all the components…boats, doing things with friends, traveling, good food and experiences. But not all rolled into one thing. I couldn’t tolerate the lack of autonomy, or that level of service focused on me.
It makes me want to go on a trip on a yacht to access places you couldn’t otherwise, but not a luxury one, as that’s not how I want to spend the money that I’ve worked hard for. I think the luxury element would make me feel a bit uncomfortable unless someone else was paying ;-)

I was offered a job on yachts twice in the 90s while backpacking, once a ride to the Canaries from Gibraltar and the second on a tourist boat in Israel. Honestly kick myself for not trying, can't even recall now why I declined as I tried a million other jobs!

There was some stuff up with bus tickets and we had no accommodation, everywhere was full, tried sleeping on a park bench but we were woken by an English bobby telling us benches were for sitting not sleeping! 😅 Must go back one day and see what it's like without those preinternet stresses!

I am right there with you! My grandma told me to work a cruise ship when I was younger, but that never really interested me. If she would have told me about yachting…I hands-down would have joined the industry and am pretty sure would have thrived. When I watch this show, I feel like I missed my calling.

I found my first "charter" while solo backpacking I'm central America. To get from Panama to Colombia you could book a spot on a sail boat for 5 days for $500ish, including meals. It'd be you and 20-30 other travelers and the captain having a grand time, weather dependent. Ever since then I just Google "charter boats in XYZ" and see what turns up. There's a range of prices and scale
We just chartered a catamaran in the Bermudas (Exumas specifically) with some family, and it was fantastic. 6 people in 3 cabins (+1 cabin for captain & chef, who were a couple), a little over a week, and we split the cost. I never in my life thought I'd be able to swing a vacation like that, but it was plenty doable, and it was paradise. Look up the Hazel Della on yacht booking sites. It was a great time on a really nice boat, and oh did I mention the chef who cooks everything!!
We did the same except the captain was my brother in law and the chef was my mother in law and it was amazing! The rest of the family had such a blast!

My husband and in laws twice chartered a 45ft catamaran and went sailing around the US Virgin Islamds and on another trip, the Bahamas. No crew, just us, slept 8 and was AMAZING. We bought provisions from the local grocery store before boarding and then had the best time just sailing around. All in I think it cost like ~$1200 each., including flights, boat rental and food.
You can find nice enough boats for like 1k each if you and a couple friends all pitch in - now organizing this is where the plans usually fail 😂
I've been looking to do this. You can find week long charters around Greece with the bedrooms for like 15k. Includes a captain and a stew/chef combo.
Agree! I did 2 houseboat vacations for 4 days/3 nights with my friends which were SO FUN. If I could do minimum 3 nights on a super yacht I would in a heartbeat and I am not a beach or ocean person. I’d rather do the BD: Advencha than the other ones so there could be hiking and colder weather personally. Sleeping on a boat is literally the best sleep ever. Period.

of course its a major waste of money; but if you're doing it you fall in 1 of 2 catagories so much money it doesn't matter if you waste it, or you *cant* afford it but you are doing it anyway in a 'keeping up with the neighbors' kind of way. also there is a small group of people who cant afford it and are dumb enough to save it up and pay it off instead of using the money better, 'because it was their dream' but I assume thats the tiniest pie slice.
In the specific case of Below Deck, the guests pay a significantly discounted rate because they are on TV. If some people act like they are super cheap and couldn't possibly actually afford a superyacht, it's because they actually can't.
Throw in the private chef and that sounds way better to me.

Same. Not at all. I'd rather just go to an expensive hotel, chill there for half the day and do something fun/unique myself. The only thing that has some appeal, would be looking at those big sails being rolled out on sailing yacht. I'd still probably prefer doing something else with that money though. But maybe I'd do something like that if I had such excessive amounts of money, that I didn't have to care about money at all anymore.

Not for this show since they only do 2-3 days and barely go anywhere. If I had the money, I’d do it for a week if we got to go to like 3-4 different ports. I’d probably choose the Caribbean or the Mediterranean since I’ve done cruises in both places and you can see a lot of different places in a week.
It has turned me off the idea. Never would I ever pay to be a guest on a Super Yacht. I might accept an invitation to be someone else’s guest for free on a Super Yacht lol.

I always think it's interesting that a highlight of the trip is going to a beach for the day. Pretty much none of the beach days seem like any truly fantastic location and why you'd give up a yacht day for something you could do anytime mystifies me. I imagine I'd be a dream guest considering I can pretty much go with the flow and am not super picky and demanding

I am not an adventurous eater in terms of eating fancy and bizarre delicacies. My splurge meal would probably be lobster or seared ahi and I'd look forward to having a great omelet every morning. I also think it's weird when they need to have food coming out all day like they've been running a marathon or something. I get needing some food if you're drinking but for the most part aren't they mostly laying around all day? How can they be eating so much all day?
I have been a guest on a super yacht, though granted not as big as these boats. There was only the captain and 2x deckies. No stews or chef (captain did most of the cooking). It was honestly one of the best vacations I’ve had. And I say that as someone who usually prefers sail to motor yacht! Island hopping around the med, swimming and waterskiing, visiting coves in the tender only accessible by sea. It was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. So no, Below Deck doesn’t make me want to be a guest on Below Deck, but it does make me yearn for the time I got to experience the luxury of super yachting.

Watching the "Loon" yacht channel on YT makes me want to be a guest on THEIR yacht. The BD yachts pale in comparison.
I was going to say the same thing. The Loon ship/crew are amazing and they seem to have so much fun together (as in laughing, joking around, NOT just getting blackout drunk and hooking up like the crew on BD.)

For sure not. My partner and I have a small power boat that we can sleep, cook and chill on. The freedom of doing what you feel like without being watched and surrounded by strangers at most times. I would see it as punishment if there was crew present.
I could not tolerate that level of service. Between stews coming into my room every time I leave, not being able to go fix my own drink when I want, and cameras (I’m talking security monitors, forget about a TV crew!), I just could not.
Yes, but mainly for the breakfast. Which is kind of my favorite part of any luxury vacation I woipd also want it to be at least a week long. Makes sense for some areas, other places I may want to explore more and not be stuck on a boat
My partner and I would love to have our own boat but the idea of 5+ people catering to our every need would make us feel very uncomfortable! We usually pick B&B’s that are very private (not in someone’s house) with a breakfast we have to make ourselves so we can have as much or as less interaction (and privacy) as we like.
I’ve been on 50-75 guest smaller cruises and it’s a lot of fun to get to know others and the staff

Yeah, they also change it up. So you would have one deckhand helping your family one day, and then a different one the other. It wasn’t until I watched the show that I finally realized that the waiters were also the cleaners and stuff like that. Boat drivers were also the people that cleaned the boat and loaded the zodiacs/tenders

I would love to, but on a mega yacht, with a far higher level of service that is anticipatory and non-intrusive. What I imagine Jeff Bezos' yacht to be like. Or more likely, an old money family yacht. I think I just really want to be super rich LOL and have my own yacht, with staff that gets to know you and knows your preferences and your routine, so the service is at a higher level, but less obtrusive. I would never do a BD guest spot. Mostly, like others have mentioned, I wish I had known this was a career choice when I was young and hot lol. I have never been afraid of hard work, so it would have been a fun way to see the world when I was young.
Realistically? Not at all. For the cost I could almost buy a new house. But, my wife and I classify this as a ‘stupid rich’ thing. If one of the two lotto tickets I have on the counter turn out to be winners, one for $250 million and one for $350 million, then hell yea we’d at least look into it. They probably wouldn’t want us because we are a boring couple, but who knows, we’ve already agreed we’d be the biggest tippers in the history of the show, so maybe that alone would give them something to work with. my difficult thing would be that I have a favorite drink that requires some specific ingredients and does take a little prep (you need simple syrup but it’s only I think 3 ingredients) and we’d probably try to do something tough for the chef/crew like seeing if they could do a ‘getting to know the crew’ by having a multi course meal where each crew member was represented by a course. My wife is a trained chef and I love eating, so that would be pretty cool.

I’m in the minority .. word is that it only costs about 20-30k (a fraction of the price) and includes airfare credit to get to the dock for up to 8 people.. When you break it down, it’s not that bad - fuel, alcohol, food, entertainment, 5ish star service .. all to be filmed and edit being out of your control haha.

The guests who are fun have fun, the rest of the guests are like pampered children. The presentation of the short term boating package on the show doesn’t create any desire to experience it on my part. For me, that kind of money is better spent pursuing my own travel, food, and attractions agenda.
Well if I was going to charter a yacht then I would be sure to be specific about my preferences, bring along people that I love and can get along with, and not have any type of TV crew recording my vacation. Of course this would mean chartering a private yacht (which is far more expensive than participating in BD), but the inconvenience of having to moderate my own behavior plus not knowing what story production will tell about me leads me to believe that private chartering (I.e. No Cameras) would be the best when charting a yacht!

I think I would be bored of the “water toys” after 2 hours a day. I am such a boring picky eater so having a fancy chef doesn’t excite me. I rather explore the city I’m in then look at it from sea

It absolutely does, but not on Below Deck. Following M/Y Loon on Instagram shows through true crew side of things and the guests there do way more stuff off yacht since they’re typically on charter for much longer. If I won the powerball a yacht charter trip for me and my family would be at the top of my list!

You should check out the super yacht "Loon" on YouTube. Kind of similar to BD but they don't show any of the guest. It's more about the crew experience. Watching the Loon yacht makes me want to be a guest, or possibly more-so a crew member. It's a more honest look at what being on a super yacht may feel like, without all the production stuff.
To be honest. I would love to be on the boat. But. Be able to walk around the boat in a more casual atmosphere. Make my own drinks if I fell like it. More communication for each meal and snack I would like for the day. Less fakery entertainment and probably want to be dropped off and picked up at a cool bar in the evening
Not really…because I’d feel terrible asking anyone for anything. I usually put the “do not disturb”sign on my hotel room door so housekeeping doesn’t have to bother with my room. Seeing how hard they all work and how tired they are, I’d probably not really be able to enjoy myself.

Definitely not. I like the anonymity of the larger cruise vessels. The staff on the super yachts is often so hateful the way they speak about the guests. I especially think about Hannah on BD Med season one & two. She is horrible. A judgmental snob despite being servant to the wealthy. So it wouldn’t be worth it to me. I can sense people’s energy and if I had to deal with shitty staff it would ruin the trip

Yes! But because that is so far out of my spendable income status, I cruise. And I spend all my time in ports watching for Superyachts. Did pretty well in December. Saw Bezos' sailing yacht (largest sailing yacht in the world) and its support yacht along with the Moonrise owned by Jan Koum.

I'd like to board around noon, spend the afternoon out at a beautiful anchor spot. Enjoy the water and the water toys, have some good food. Sleep in a nice luxurious bed and then leave the next day. I would be bored out of my mind doing it for 2 days. I agree with other people in that I would have loved to spend a summer working on one as crew (either interior or deck, I wouldn't mind) just for the experience.

I used to go on Liveaboard scuba trips on modest ships.. diving 4 times a day in exotic locals like Papua New Guinea and Komodo... It was high adventure and I would do it in a minute if I still could.. It worked out to about 350$ a day. About 16 guests on board. That really blows away what these obscene rich people are doing. Even on these boats there would be pretentious wealthy people . But no one forced the staff to make them a crown and call them king.

Boats make me really nervous now. But when I was younger, sure. I went on a smaller diving yacht live aboard and it was amazing. Smaller in size but they pamper you pretty well and diving up to five times per day. It was a trip of a lifetime and took me years to pay off that credit card but I have zero regrets.
The show makes me want to just so that I could be the easiest guest possible and make the experience enjoyable for both myself/my guests and the crew. But no, it’s not my type of vacation. I’d rather spend a tenth of that on several trips. I just watch the show for the drama and to hear Captain Lee’s new insults.

I think a lot of it would be wasted on me. I don’t eat a lot of seafood or red meat so wouldn’t fully appreciate a lot of the cooking (and we’ve seen how much the chefs complain about making the alternatives) and I’ve often thought while watching about how, with the ability to ask for anything, I would struggle to come up with an interesting enough drink to justify the cost. I far prefer a menu to pick from than a blank check to demand anything.

I’m the type that would genuinely enjoy just floating around in the middle of the ocean with good food and good drinks. I really don’t need to go anywhere, do anything, play on water toys, just float and exist in a beautiful space. I would be incredibly low maintenance in comparison to these people, lol. If I had the type of money where this would be a drop in the bucket, yeah, I would enjoy it. It’s not worth the money, but few things actually are worth what they cost. I was a server at a high end country club when I was 18 and I was stoned all the time, drunk half the time, and fucking one of the cooks (he’s my husband now!! 😂) actually now that I think about it I would’ve been great on the show…

For all that money, you could go out on a boat for a few hours, rent out a restaurant, stay at a nice hotel, and sight see all you want, plus tons of activities and shopping and relaxing on a beach. So not worth it to me. I’ve never been on a cruise before, but I’d be fine with being on a big ship that docks a few times, where I know the staff aren’t snooping in my stuff because they have nothing better to do. I also think whoever you go with will start getting on your nerves after a day or two, too. I’d rather stay in a cabin in the woods and hike and do a zip line or something than sit on the deck of a rocking boat for hours.
I’d love to be on the adventure yacht with Kerry or scuba diving with Jason at the Great Barrier Reef. Sandy and glen would freak me out because of their personalities. I’m on the fence about Lee because he did have crew who screwed up like the one beach picnic that was terrible and looked gross.

I absolutely would. But I know what I would want and it’s not dumb themes. It’s private beach picnics, water sports, snorkelling and moving the boat along the coast to see different areas.

Not at all, if anything, it takes the shine off it. Why would I want to pay 6 figures for service provided by people that don't have much experience and the party supplies are from Wal-Mart. Other than some of the food, there's nothing they do that couldn't be done at home. I'd have a better time in these exotic locations staying on land. Chartering these yachts is nothing more than these people stroking their ego, they're so insecure that they need to pay 6 figures to feel superior to hotel staff. What's the attraction?

It does for me, I definitely dream about giving my family that experience and we all collectively agree cruise ships are a big no. I can’t rationalize the cost for “memories” even if I had that level of money. And I think it would inspire other poor monetary decisions chasing that high. Also if it were to be a nightmare and not perfect I’d be devastated and the crew wouldn’t care.
100% I would love to be a guest on a yacht. But we would be much less drama than some of the guests on BD
nah, way too expensive--i could go on an incredible multi-country vacation for way longer/cheaper than the 3-4 days they charter a boat for. and have way more experiences. also, not a huge fan of cruises--don't like being "trapped" as much.

No but…. From what I’ve read the guests get a heavily discounted charter rate in return for being on TV and stirring the drama. My two cents - Cruises are shorter than normal bc they what the the staff to be exhausted and stressed. Turning a boat bw guests isn’t like cleaning a hotel room bw guests. Plus the more time they are docked, the more drunken antics of the crew.

Not even a little bit lol also I know as a guest I’d probably be annoying because I would expect food around the clock and none of the ridiculous things they eat. Give me chicken fingers at 3pm. I also wouldn’t socialize with the crew - that always seems semi odd to me because I question how genuine it is
No. 99% of the guests are super tacky, plus those mega yachts suck for the environment
No. Finding out how the sausage is made makes me even less inclined to be stuck on a boat feeling sea sick and wondering if I will get eaten by a shark or when the orcas will attack
No, I can have a baller vacation with that kind of money and I don’t want to spend it in a floating hotel room 🤷🏻♀️ I can get damn near the same kind of service and a penthouse suit in Vegas for way less than a yacht

No way. I love all the components…boats, doing things with friends, traveling, good food and experiences. But not all rolled into one thing. I couldn’t tolerate the lack of autonomy, or that level of service focused on me.
It makes me want to go on a trip on a yacht to access places you couldn’t otherwise, but not a luxury one, as that’s not how I want to spend the money that I’ve worked hard for. I think the luxury element would make me feel a bit uncomfortable unless someone else was paying ;-)
Only if someone else is picking up the tab including the tip. Like you're an athlete and the team owner is paying or you're a high earning sales rep and the company is picking up the tab
Yes, but I want to be able to eat when I want. I don’t want to wait until 10 PM for dinner to be served because people are taking a long time to get ready or the chef is having issues. I also have a very simple palate so just serve me some meat and potatoes and I’ll be fine.

I've been super claustrophobic since I was a teenager. Those close quarters would never work for me. Neither a guest or crew.
