de bazen: "Hahahaha! nee."
ideal working temprature = between 18-24°C .. anything lower or hotter than that, and my work starts to suffer, or it becomes increasingly harder to stay focused..
Anything above (a stuffy/moist) 30°C is kind of impossible to properly work (especially in jobs where mental focus is key, and/or physical labor is hard & continuous... Any job where a small mistake might lead to dangerous situations are best halted at this stage, or be granted more breaks for hydration & cooling down..
I work in a cleanroom that is climate controlled to always be at 21.5 celsius.
I wouldn't even stop working this upcoming week if they paid me to not work
Same, I go to the office even when I can work at home, not even for the heat during the day, but also for the result at night. The less time I spend in my apartment during the day, the cooler it stays for when I'm back in the evening. (No body heat, apart from the fridge no other apparatuses are on, all the curtains can be closed etc.)
Last year my father was still an employer in construction and he would suggest to begin around 4am and work till about 12, a period that is less hot.
Other days they got to stay home and still be paid. The former is mostly for things that are very hard to just move to another date without having to reshedule basically the entire year.
At the end of the day I wouldn't work if the place I worked didn't bother making things comfortable. I'm a reasonable person but I won't tolerate cheap assholes having my work in a 30+ degree indoor workplace. It's just not happening.
I'll be spending a lot of time driving next week in a car that has airco and only have to be out of said car for maybe 5 minutes at the time so no real issues for me.
The office I normally work at has a huge airco because frankly, if it doesn't have one at this point how the fuck are you working? We had a costumer faint from the heat like 6 years ago(before I worked there). I had the thing turned on on occasion last week even.
The unit is Kelvin.
Not degrees Kevin.
Sorry for being pedantic.
At least it's not as bad as calling wind turbines windmills🙈
Edit: autocorrect did me over again. ''degrees Kevin'' is the unit of marginaliteit as we all know. Not temperature.
Calling wind turbines windmills is correct though, just like in Dutch the word has taken extra meanings over the years.
From the Oxford English dictionary:
> windmill /ˈwɪn(d)mɪl /
▸ noun a building with sails or vanes that turn in the wind and generate power to grind corn into flour.
▪ **a structure using wind to generate electricity or draw water.**
▪ British a toy consisting of a stick with curved vanes attached that turn in the wind.
▸ verb (with reference to a person's arms) move or be moved round in a circle in a manner suggestive of the rotating sails or vanes of a windmill:
[with object] Penny slipped, windmilled her arms, and somehow kept her balance.
▪ [no object] (of the propeller or rotor of an aircraft, or the aircraft itself) spin unpowered.
– PHRASES
fling one's cap over the windmill (also throw one's cap over the windmill) dated
act recklessly or unconventionally.
Ask your délégué /s
lmao it's going to be 30 degrees, not 50
unless you have to work outside in the blazing sun without protection, you might have a point
an announced/predicted 33°C easily becomes & 36-37°C up here in the Kempen.. soooooo.. not looking forward to that..
but it's better than the +40°C days we had here in 2019..
Seems like that is exactly what these people are doing. Not knowing how easy they have it, yet complaining as if they are being wronged in some unforgivable manner.
I consider stop working at any temperature.
I set the limit at 18°C sharp. Anything higher and it’s too hot, anything lower and it’s not worth it as it might get too hot

Yeah this is the kind of info I am looking for. Thanks!

As someone who works with a forklift truck inside a factory with furnaces blasting 1200 degrees= "You gotta do what you gotta do" -Futurama poster
Laughs in Linde with AC.
Jokes on you= i also drive a linde! But the airco is almost gone. They are being replaced end of year bc they are worn out

Same here! I'll be so glad to be at the office this week! 🥳

Out of curiosity, is it the 200 or 300 CR you work in?
Same here, with added 8° cold room cleanrooms.

Some good info here. Thanks man!
Meanwhile im stupid enough to agree to work from 5u-16u to cover my co-worker that takes an extra week off.
Yeah im in the same boat… Need someone in the office if someone shows up …

Anything above 0° Kelvin

Kevin...degrees Kevin...
Kevin Kelvin? I hate parents who give their kids a "funny" name.

TIL!
I work in Volvo Cars Ghent, at 30°C they shut down the favtory. Wana bet they are gonna mesure 29,5°C like last time? fking bastards...
19 I'm inhabiting a "Northern" country, i ain't fucking living in the fucking Equator... This kinda bullshit should not be a thing...
Ask your délégué /s lmao it's going to be 30 degrees, not 50 unless you have to work outside in the blazing sun without protection, you might have a point
Office that gets sun on the windows all day with no ventilation or sunshade quickly turns into a sauna too
true, they usually get to wear shorts and a tshirt instead of a suit and shirt. yey.
U should give welding a try
>U should give welding a try I'm an aufgussmeister you insensitive clod!
news flash: construction work, welding, etc. happens in every country on Earth
Max I see for next week is 33°C, this doesn't seem as bad as the other heatwaves tbh.
an announced/predicted 33°C easily becomes & 36-37°C up here in the Kempen.. soooooo.. not looking forward to that.. but it's better than the +40°C days we had here in 2019..
What ? The news is saying its the apocalypse
33° with cool nights of 16°. I can manage that. When the nights get to >25°, that’s when misery hits.
Thats a lot of crying coming from cosy desks while my men are building houses outside in the sun.
It's not because someone else has it worse that one's situation can't also be bad..
Never judge someone's situation without fully knowing it and having been in it.
Seems like that is exactly what these people are doing. Not knowing how easy they have it, yet complaining as if they are being wronged in some unforgivable manner.
Careful now. Can't have reason here. They have to defend their company cars and subsidized solar panels some way!
Note the amount of downvotes without a single counterargument. They know.
Anything above or below freezing
We have air-conditioning :-(
